Hello All,

I see a number of guys that are recently denied complaining that couldn't get another date. Well, from my experience, you have to keep checking till the date shows up oo. I don't advise you to choose the regular option, you definitely don't want to blow up your opportunity again.

It took me about 14 days of constantly checking to see Sept 2022. I chose the date and applied for EA which got approved yesterday.

NB: I was denied December 1st in Lagos and my new application is in Abuja.
My own EA got denied and I don’t know why

Hello All,

I am in a little bit of fix. My questions are in two parts.
I was delayed in Lagos on 20th of December by one elderly black woman after she asked my age (Over 30) and marital status (Single) as the last questions before handing me the blue paper. I applied to a college for a course relating to my current profession but I have a BSc degree in a non related course. What do you think I am doing wrong?
Also, I have since filled another DS160, booked appointment in Lagos but my EA was rejected. I filled a second DS160, pick Abuja, hoping to get EA there but my problem is that I can't seem to find how to change my appointment to Abuja. Do i need to cancel and reschedule?
My resumption date is 4th of January.

Yes you need to cancel. Update your Ds 160 ID in your profile then login in again

In the USA, you use the actual point on the of which it is. E.g 2. something / 5. something. With that ‘we’ will know what to advise you on.

That aside, with a low CGPA, you can easily do RESULT EVALUATION to USA STANDARD which the final result would be a scale of 4.0. Most schools there works on 4.0 scale (most not all).

That also aside, you can and should write out your mind and soul out inside your STATEMENT OF PURPOSE/INTENT on how and why you had a low CGPA during your UG, and how you go about beating that now with a high GRE score and so on (you detailed working experience on your CV) etc.

Shalom!

I had 1.82cgpa on scale of 5.0, with 325 GRE score, are there schools that consider such cgpa grade in respect to the gre score that I can apply to?

GPA too low, GRE too high, the least I have seen US Universities accepting is 2.5/4, do you have plenty work experience? Or maybe you can improve your chances by doing PGD related to what you wantu do and smashing it, adding it to your high GRE will give you a big chance, Also write TOEFL to increase your options

That was what I had. I was admitted and graduated.

Evaluate your undergrad grade with WES

If you have a student copy of your transcript.
Go to WES website, use the free calculator to evaluate it to 4.0. Quote me on the outcome.

You have a good GRE score. So we should target schools that use "GPA + GRE score" to decide admission. You should get a conditional admission with this combo.

Looking forward to your replies

yeah, like I said, there are US schools that accept 2.5/4 and above, just use Google, getting funding will now depend on other aspects of your profile like GRE, SOP, LOR and work experience

Not really, but you can mention it in your SOP and add the transcript as a one year program you did to demonstrate that you've improved since after your undergraduate studies, it goes a long way

i highly disagree with this, being self sponsored is very risky, i did it my first interview and i think it was the cus of of my denial, its better she leaves in her account and have her as your sponsor only.
Why is being self sponsored very risky ? If the person is buoyant to sponsor his or herself

What is wrong ?

I have not been able to see dates at all if I click previously denied...it will bring" there are no dates availablee"
But with regular, I can see available dates...
Are you saying I should keep checking??

I'm not sponsoring myself.

My mum is my sponsor. I have heard people saying it's okay if me as the student have the money in my account.

I'm considering this because most people advice the sponsor have about 3x of the COA which won't be possible in my own case. Hence, if the money can be in my account with the disguise that she deposited it into my account.
