Europe cup is played after league games because they are in same league and most country players are home based or playing around europe.
But Afcon is played with africa timetable not Europe timetable.

Thats terribley bad. But in reality John Ogu wasn't good for the Super Eagles, because i've watched him play for the team. Sorry to say he was below average.. He should keep making his money in Europe while he's still active.

Can any coach bench Salah, Drogba, Eto, Mane, JJ, Kanu for choosing country over club? The answer is no! U were simply not good enough that's why it was very easy for the coach to make such a decision. Be good at what u do and you'll become indispensable to pple

It's because they have not kidnapped any of your relations that made you believe anything good will come out of this zoo.

Nigeria infiltrated by Fulani(fourth deadliest terrorist organisation in the world) is not worth fighting for.

John fashunu is still receiving monthly allowance for playing for England. Ask Jay Jay , Kanu etc ,how much they were receiving?. They fought with their life to retain their hotels.

They would have pay you more and u forfeit the zoo representation.

Fashanu lied...Three lions do not pay pension...football doesn't pay pension..do you know how many people have played for them

Even Osihmen doesn't have covid

Well, I hope he won't be filled of regrets years from now, just like you

You don't understand okay, John Ogu lost out of 2014 world cup because NFA felt that he was not playing at the club side so not good to represent Nigeria but they forgot that his club side sidlined him because he honoured Nigeria at the CAF competition.

It's is simple, even now, foreign based players are valued more than our local boys and every Nigerian playing outside of Africa knows this and that their club side is where the made money/name before being called to represent Nigeria hence, they will still prefer their club side to Nigeria though they may not be vocal about their preference, thank you.

CAF should have found a way to play the AFCON around July/August, so as to have a win-win situation.
If I were football manager, I won't release any players. Imagine Liverpool loosing her key talismen. And it's not like these CAF or African FA would compesete players.
Saka, Alli, Abraham all made the best decision of their lives in shunning NFF

I concur with you. This tournament is a serious distraction for club sides and I don't blame the if the are reluctant to release their players. CAF should have this tournament played at the end of the season not at the middle of the season when the leagues have become so hot. Some clubs are contending for the titles, others are battling for top 4 finish while others are fighting relegation. This is a crucial time. Every club needs her regular players especially now. I do not blame these clubs, I blame CAF for all this.

This people don't rate the African continent well at all. They have zero respect for Africa.

No, not what you think okay, its boils on the timing, January is hectic and very busy; July-Aug would have been better.

No club side is having problems with Copa America, Euro cos their timing suits club side, thank you.

Why?

Why should CAF move a traditional tournament because of European clubs?

One day you would even accept when they say we should scrap it.

Nonsense.

Africa should develop their continent, develop their league, make it attractive, pump in money and pay players in dollars. CAF is a big joke to the world, all they do is collect money from fifa, collect bribes etc al

All these players you mentioned were all wonderful but as some point in their carriers were benched or even left out for reasons that are flimsy okay.

Salah who is a champion was former Roma star, do you know much about him in Roma?

Eto was the best forward in Barca during dinho days but was benched and disgrace by Guadola and at Inter became a defender.

Okocha was a champion at Frankfort and PSG but the coming of Dinho forced Okocha out and he found solance at Bolton.

Before Neankwo left Arsenal, he was benched, please ask questions.

All these players were good but before or after were benched and dispensabled. No player is indespensable, no one at all, if Dinho later became surplus and left Barca for AC Milan, no player is indespensable (Chelsea didn't fear any player, the way the feared Dinho then "genuine Chelsea fans will confirm this" but no one talks about Ronaldinho again).

not surprised bcox the same happened between Mikel n conte wen mikel choosed olympics against club football n dts the same thing that i was saying about the denis case with Watford..
the point is dt, this problem isnt starting this year bcoz of covid, its a been their for long.
European clubs av always believed that January AFCON do disturb club activities BT d difference between then n now is that..
our African legends like Eto, drogba, adebayo, diop, yaya, okocha, kanu etc were all loyal n committed to African football which gave them more respect back then and also dey were more happy representing dier country n playing in Africa unlike the players dt we av today dt are moni chasers for example ziyech..
which coach go tell Drogba, kanoute, adebayo, kanu or Eto to choose between country n club wen AFCON is involved??
whites dnt joke with loyalty, dey wont dare such if dey see one...
I think our players needs to do more or it gets worst than dis..
If not for the european clubs will you have those guys you mentioned up there? What loyalty have African countries shown to their players? They are only good to come help win trophies and that's it

Smart guy. You mentioned big players like Eto
Why not use struggling African players for your example
Drogba, Kanu, Eto etc will easily find clubs fighting for their signature if their coach decides to do away with them for going for Afcon. Let Iwobi try it. His comatose career will be gone

Let's always try to be real and put ourselves in these guys shoes. The blame is on CAF

Excerpts from Wright on this issue....

Players are allowed to play for their clubs until 3 January before leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations after Fifa rules stating clubs must release players by 27 December was changed "in the spirit of goodwill and solidarity".

"Loads of the best players in Europe right now are African," said Wright.

"If we love them at club level why can't we love them at international level like their counterparts across the globe? Why is this tournament constantly getting so much flak?

"I have got to give a shout out to the players like Sebastien Haller who are taking a stand against the media backlash, plus Patrick Vieira for coming out and speaking about this.

"This is why it is important to have a black manager who can let people understand where his roots are and how important this tournament is for African people.

They say he who pays the piper dictates the tune.
The europeans build the players maintain the players and give them a better quality of life than their so called roots yet you want to dictate terms and conditions.
Thats like a man who abandons his child to be adopted by another family , the when the child is doing well wants that same child to come take care of him then telling the adopted family that they have no say.
