I went to see a friend today in the hostel and took a walk around the bathroom area. The last time I saw a bathroom this dirty was far back in the boarding house, I never knew we have the same here.

Meanwhile, malabites and malabresses have resorted to bathing outside the bathrooms (they stay in the quadrangle). Despite the increments the VC (first female VC) is bringing on a daily basis, the state of the toilets in the hostel is this terrible.

I just dey reason this thing since I saw this post... Guys are not allowed into any female hostel, day or night, so how the Bleep did you take a walk around the bathroom area of a female hostel and took pictures.

Yeah, that's the state of all hostels in UNICAL after the holidays but in Hall 6 and my wing, nah, this can't happen. We made sure to keep the toilet and bathroom clean and it was simply possible due to the fact that the hostel was kinda empty; now, with the resumption, the pigs of the hostel has returned. Just this Wednesday, and the toilet is disgusting.
The most funny part is even when we do cleanup as a wing, the cleaner still doesn't wash the toilet/bathroom; waiting for us the student to do it every time, which is wrong cause she is paid to do it. We washing it doesn't mean she wouldn't still do her job.

Yesterday, I made it vividly and politely clear to the cleaner that she ought to begin her job.

But honestly, I give credit to the VC Florence; since her administration began, the welfare and state of the hostels have been increasing gradually than in Akpagu's tenure.
Although, stepmother made life difficult for us..... UNICAL is not for the chicken-hearted nor the poor. I don't wish for my enemy to attend UNICAL..... E get why¡¡¡!!!

Who's fault? The local born-dirty users of the toilet that can't keep it clean after usage or the management that don't know what is going on till when inform? No one is abusing nobody. Both male and female hostel are bad in many sch.

Those two years in the uniben hostel taught me not to be amazed by these pictures. We used to wash toilet before we do the needful and sometimes it was really hellish and messy. Yuck!!!

Write a letter to him telling him about the state of the toilet giving him 7 days ultimatum to fix up that toilet or else a protest is gonna take place and it wouldn't be funny..I think that way he is gonna do something about it rather that watching things like this happen in a hostel toilet that's supposed to be hygienic for people to poop at ease..

Those days we used to call it SOS (shit on top shit). The truth is nobody cares, even when we protested all they ended up doing was a little fix here and there.

This is better than what I saw in unn. Dont blame the school , blame the users, many people are from very dirty homes and they'd use public facilities anyhow because it doesn't belong to them, even if you hire the best cleaners as long as people don't use the facilities with respect for the next user ,it'd continue to be like this

My brother!!!!! I sincerely advocate that other schools should start posting theirs on social media. This will make the authorities sit up. School Authorities will be busy painting buildings and constructing gates meanwhile areas that affect the welfare of the students including rest rooms are left in this type of condition.

In Nigeria, the university employees responsible for cleaning and maintenance of the toilet ends are either corrupt, or refuse to clean or maintain the toilet ends.

This is not true.
Those cleaners have suffered hell trying to keep that place clean.
If you have bn opportune to stay around the environment, you will appreciate the cleaners.
They will even be cleaning the toilet and someone will come in and mess it up before them.
If they complain, you will see the students insulting the cleaner and be telling her, is this not why you are bn employed here.

I studied at ABU Zaria and I know how the cleaners were a hundred percent dedicated to their jobs leading to very decent toilets and the entire campus.Sometimes it's down to our individual attitudes and honesty.I'm waiting for uploads on the state of things in the northern universities,l mean the far north

Tell your friend to read his or her books and finish off from there. You don't expect the toilets/bathrooms to like like that in your family house. If we were to rate the facilities in Nigerian universities, no one would attend any. Period

Clearly it's the students fault. Since government and the University administration can employ janitors to clean the toilets, why not draw up a rooster so each room in the block can wash the toilets every day(for the ladies) or every two days (for the men) ?
