In my time, the uni offered me hardship funds, but in the same email or maybe when I queried eligibility as an international student they also told me they'd be informing the Home Office of international students who claimed funds. I don't know what that means.

The person should apply for it. Universities aren't being generous. The UK Government disbursed a huge £££ to all universities in England (I want to believe same for other parts) to cushion the effect of Covid-19 on students as they had written to the universities and parliament to refund their tuition fees and monies paid for accommodation. If a particular university didn't announce it, trust me the money is being disbursed underground. They dip into it whenever any student come forward for such. People had nothing to eat in Nigeria during lock down now. Did it not affect the person emotionally and psychologically? You need the money take care of yourself �

Which university is this? I heard some universities didn't extend it to International students but some OS still got the financial aids perhaps not directly from that pot. Students from certain country did that during the case of Delta variant outbreak in that country.

They are not under any obligation to offer any assistant to International students even if the UK govt gave them billions.

Agreed, De Montfort was one of the few unis that gave a decent amount like twice to thrice. A school like Coventry opened the portal and gave a deadline, only for them to turn around and say No more funds as it is first come first serve, despite still within the deadline application.

I felt this was a case of racial bias too. As you said, they should have suspended her instead of taking her licence just like that.

Hi guys, I recently got a job in Central London and would be going next month as a first timer.

Can anyone kindly recommend areas to look at for long term accommodation for sm1 working in Central London. Factors I'm considering are low crime rate, affordable rent (900 pcm max), studios/1 bedroom flat, commute time of 30-40 mins max, nearness to transport/supermarkets etc. Also areas to avoid.

For almost murdering a child because she can't keep her emotions and over-religiousity in check? And we wonder why the system in Nigeria isn't working....

We seriously need to realise that certain level of carelessness should carry grave consequences. Mistakes, one-off... etc. It is still what it is. She messed up BIG TIME! - maybe it's time for her to go and rest at home. If you have lost a family member as a result of the careless handling that many of the healthworkers in Nigeria do, you wouldn't talk like this.

The house needs to be repainted with mould resistant paint and vents put in if there is none - which is usually wipeable so double plus.
2 things - contact environmental health (be ready for your lease not t be renewed) and make a report with pictures and videos. The council will force the landlord to rectify. Or offer to go halves to get the mould cleaned and the house repainted professionally. Opening windows will not solve the underlying damp issue. That needs to be sorted first - it could be a leak or even worse rising damp (which requires the whole house to be re-plastered)

You also run a serious risk of all of you developing respiratory issues. Mould spores no be play o

I don’t even consider the judgement harsh. Imagine the parents having to do her job. They ought to be the ones panicking and not her with the supposed knowledge. In all fairness, she got the right judgement.

I see healthcare as “you are either in or out”. There is no standing by the door. Cos a little mistake, someone’s loved one is gone. And that’s why they get the respect from everyone, cos we all know it’s not an easy job.

Leave Nigeria out of this as we don't live there and it's a misnomer to make that comparison.

At some point in the career of every single healthcare professional regardless of how good they are at their job, he/she will panic and he/she will make a mistake that might/might not lead to patient harm. The whole concept of improving patient safety is to continuously learn from mistakes and to prevent a reoccurence.

I'm not religious, but I understand that some religious people tend to scream Jesus/God when confronted with certain situations. If this Nurse received a suspension, she would have learned from this episode and received further training that would make her a better Nurse. This episode highlights why Nurses feel the responsibility they bear isn't worth the pay they receive, a single mistake is all it takes to end a long career.

The reason why I suspect racial bias is at play here and strongly believe this expulsion can be commuted to a suspension if this Nurse goes to court is because the NMC/GMC/GPhC are not immune to bias. There has been countless court cases won against them on the disparity of their decision making based on the skin colour of registrants.

Regardless of how we want to speak the grammar concerning this nurse, if this actually happened, then expulsion seems even fair. It's not until there is murder involved that we'll know she not only messed up but need to start her training from the beginning.

If it was my child and you are busy screaming Jesus instead of doing what you're TRAINED AND PAID to do, you'll realise after the episode that expulsion is actually your best option.

For crying out loud, that child could have DIED. What's the suspension for?? She clearly needs to start from the basics again.

Based on the summary below. Looks like she didn’t deserve to be striked off the register. A suspension and some training could have fixed this. However, I am not a medical practitioner, so these things might be more stringent than I think.

This man keeps saying I should clean and open the windows but this isn’t working. I keep opening the windows despite this extremely cold weather but the molds keep getting bigger. My kitchen entirely turned black and I have to scrub the Walls every 2 weeks.

When you moved in, were the affected areas, freshly painted ?

If yes, the property is probably got a mould issue (some properties do, is the property an end of terrace?....

Buy a humidifier + open windows + don't spread clothes the Nigerian way (every available space must be a dryer)........

If you have tried all and failed..... Make an official complaint to the letting agent and LL...... Informing them you would lodge a report with the council, stating property is not fit for human habitation + your have kids suffering from asthma and this mould is making matters worse........

Mould causing respiratory issues and rattyness......

You would both agree to temporarily end contract with no financial consequence, but you would have to start looking for another better house .......

You cannot be paying rent and be inconvenienced ..... You must enjoy your rent, also speak to neighbours, find out if previous tenant complained about mould exposure etc etc ........

This is a story of redemption and I like the fact that lessons have been learnt for both Father and son even though the father went too far to cause his son to bleed. That child A was really about to go wayward at just 10 yrs and his father did a factory reset for him
