Chai!
Poor tortoise...
You made a mistake being in Nigeria where poverty has pushed people into eating anything both eatable and uneatable.

*MODIFIED*

All these rare animals should be preserved for educational purposes, I also believe that this young man that killed and ate the tortoise has never seen a tortoise in his life for the first time and he doesn't even know the name of the animal he killed, reason why I said earlier that these animals should be protected and preserved for educational purposes. Believe also with me that it'll take him another lifetime to be opportune to see this type of animal again.
A time will come when our children will be left with only pictures of these animals in the classroom or other educational facilities.
Why kill what you don't know anything about?
The guy is a clown.

You are in a desert walking along in the sand when all of a sudden, you look down and see a tortoise, you reach down...

You just made me remember the theme in blade runner; what it means to be human- having the ability to empathize. Funny enough to detect anomalies (empathy) in the replicants, they asked a question if u see a tortoise stranded in the desert lying on it's back, what would u do? Would you turn it over or leave it lying there? I'm sure the writer never imagined a human being or replica would go as far to Cook and eat it

Oftentimes, I wonder if it's poverty or plain stupidity that's causing all these. What's with the continual, gleeful destruction of our wildlife and ecosystem?

Must you guys eat every crawling and slithering creatures

It's high time the promoters of this site(Nairaland) create an editorial page where they take a position on environmental issues, biodiversity and sundry matters and also educate its readers on the dangers of depleting the ecosystem.

It's not enough to be banning people whose views aren't in tandem with the set rules. There has to be a conscious effort to sensitive, inform and educate your readers. This fetish of cooking snakes and tortoise and posting pictures all over the site is prebendal, predatory and anti-nature.

Very good point.

I am fed up with the oil spillage and illegal refineries that have destroyed the ecosystem of the Niger delta. The destruction of the country rainforest and wildlife just because they are hungry
