I don't actually agree with the emboldened. I don't have to be an Islamic scholar to understand that the religion doesn't have a problem with its followers wallowing in abject penury.

The gap between the north and south is huge, especially in ideology. Most Nigerians are not interested in seeing a working country (especially the north); they just want to see their tribe man or religious fellow running the country.

I remember a northerner told me in 2015 that even if Buhari would lead us into hellfire, he would gladly join him. These are supposedly educated people from Nigeria's north. I'll never forget that comment.
