All thanks to your yahoo Yahoo friends whom you admire and want to be like.

I rented an office but because I look young my landlord thought he has seen a yahooboy he can extort. Imagine after moving in the fool came telling me that the paint I met I will pay for it, I just told him " baba this little conversation is over and until my rent expires we have nothing to discuss ever again".

God bless you for the answer you gave to the Old extortionist

I am in Lagos and I am paying 650k for an apartment that does not worth the price

Everybody should just hustle and leave this country or just earn in dollar

How do you earn in Dollars?

I don't mean Upwork or all those time-wasting stuffs. Let us know. Thanks

How can a person have over 300,000 Naira and still can’t afford any descent house? How did we get here?

The first time I moved out of my parents house In 2018 I literally rented a house for 40,000 naira a year, and it was a room self contain in delta.

Today there is no single room self contain below 200-250,000 naira, and that’s even the ones in rural areas, anyone in town is from 300k and above, and yes just a room !!! Wtf is happening?

I’m so worried about Nigerians, am I the only one facing these issues or is every one so rich they can easily pay 300k for a damm single room apartment
How did you can I to this conclusion? I rented a house for my sis 6 months ago in Lagos,it was 2 rooms self con and 65k a year.. I think the location matters.

this is the number one problem with Nigerians.
you put all the responsibility on a deity when you choose to do nothing about your situation. Even all the prophets called God and still fought and spoke out but here we want someone in the sky to say abracadabra and house rent will become one naira. WE ARE THE PROBLEM.
sorry. I am talking about EVERY NIGERIAN and not just you.

God will not do anything about it if we that are here feeling the heat refuse to speak up and force our representatives in the house and senate to speak and address such matters but we have time to debate on BBN and spend billions on BBN votes. God will do NOTHING about it. God has more important things to do in countries with natural disaster and war.

Yahoo boys ruined everything most of them only move in an apartment after they cashout, and after the first year they can't renew the rent again then they will gather all their friends to live with them so they can split the rent imagine 5boys in a 2bedroom apartment and the rent is 250-300k.

Same Yahoo boys are making unclean prostitute to feel like they are made of gold, imagine a prostitute demanding N25,000 for the same toilet every other person has used and will still use after you. What exactly are these boys paying for?

Anyways na them sabi

The rate at which teenagers rent house is alarming. Yes I won't call them yahoo boys.
A guy of 21 that is supposed to be in his parent house is renting two bed flat at exorbitant price. What is on his mind.at the point of paying is not the price of the rent but the freedom to have sex anytime , roll with girls , smoke ,drink
Such drive makes them pay any amount

Elders say the seriousness of the boy shows you the kind of man he would become.

I started living alone at 21, my first apartment there was nothing in it but a bed. A man of 21 Choosing to live alone is very much welcome idea.

There is nothing good that can’t be corrupted. You are just making excuses; guys do all these things even in their parent’s house.

This is how you see men of over 30 still in their comfort zone, eating their mummy’s food undecided

Girls are into more ritual stuff now, seems from the olosho they learnt from guys carrying them. Any girl on the street now even if she is married don't rule it out that she is not one of them.

Country is terrible now, notice how traffic on nairaland have reduced especially this February, the land now I'm not even sure god will help again.
the traffic reduction on nairaland is cause by unbanning of Twitter majority of people have gone back to their Twitter account

This is the problem of wanting to stay close to the city. In bwari about 40km away from the city centre, one can get a 2bedrooms apartment for 350k

It's because of inflation.
This government has diligently supervised the devaluation of the Naira.

If you did not subsidise the building of my house, you have no moral rights to dictate my prices. Whether sale or rental.
Imagine how this government has increased prices of everything you get from it since 2015.

Truth be told, yahoo boys are the reason for rent increase in asaba, God punish these yahoo boys aka armed robbers
no they are not. the reason for the increase is cos nothing is regulated in nigeria , prices are determined by landlords , if one landlord in an area jacks up price and it works for him, every other landlord would want to do same, and no regulation body is there to stop or control the landlords.

They don't consider the side of the landlords. They talk as if they are not in Nigeria. Where dollar is now trading for N570.

As of 2016, I could remember cement was sold for N1300, clay filling sand for N18k. Now, cement is N4300, and clay filling sand for N40k.

Your opening statement is very correct

People think these boys action don't affect us adversely..same thing in PH

Any new building u go to price, they be telling u from 600k upwards for 2 bed because lots of them are even paying extra money to landlord and for 2-3 yrs....

I wish state governments can enact laws to stop all these

It is giving most tenants high BP esp when ur rent is due to pay another huge money on terrible apartment. some landlords wil convert their normal face me I face you tiny room to sefcon and inflate the price to over 300% .

person go leave 3bedroom flat because of high rentage fee for a single room sefcon tinkin he can comfortably afford it after first ur expire . To even renew d rent for the single sefcon room e no easy.
ABI shey na to further downgrade to batcher kinda apartment because e no easy for local Man.

this is why you need a regulatory body to decide prices and not landlords nor tenants.

Why Ritual and Yahoo dey on the rise..Nigerians have been made tough to survive by any means. The African leaders made it look like you cant challenge them hence the soft target is by any other means but not the government. Everything get elastic limit, I dey sure of that one

It's because everyone now wants to live in Lagos and Abuja. Some fools work remotely but they still live in mega cities paying huge rents when they have all the opportunities to relocate to smaller cities or live in their own towns. If not that common sense signed a memorandum of understanding with me, I will still be in Abuja now wasting money on rent.
