There's so much inflation in the country, cost of living is high there's no job, governance is not efficient, unprofitable spending, borrowing, politicians run the country and not industrialists and technocrats.

The men that managed to build houses are retired and cashing out from their investments. They use same to provide for their unemployed kids pls what do u want them to do?

Here's a way out. Peter Obi invested state money into sabmiler breweries to the tune of $30m and today that company is worth $100m. That is the kind of leadership Nigerians need but poor miserable bastards have 1000 reasons why obi is not going anywhere because they have already found solace in abject poverty, misery, and hardship. But until u change the entire political landscape, you will only be having a repeat.

Somebody said na God will help them. And i wonder, what exactly will god help a miserable black man to do. Your dad was probably born in the 60s then his parents were facing the same hardship but will always say god will help us. Now you're saying the same thing god will help u. You are going to give birth to children who will continue in poverty and god will help us.

This god does not exist.

Get your PVC.

Wake the fvck up.

This is the problem of wanting to stay close to the city. In bwari about 40km away from the city centre, one can get a 2bedrooms apartment for 350k

Your are right bro, I gave one out last year no water for #300k at peyi

That is why the government needs to take the lead in providing accomodations in the country as it is done in other countries. The single issue of accommodation has kept many Nigerians below poverty line. They pay a huge chunk of their earnings on rent, what is left is just a pittance that can only feed them for a short while. I can also see how rents are driving the inflationary trend in the country, if I paid a huge rent to secure a warehouse or shop for my business, then I would have to raise the price to compensate for that.

Federal Government needs to employ many youth graduates in the real estate and give them the skills and tools/tech needed to build this sector. Nigerian real estate is really lagging behind many African countries let alone Europe and America. Ask yourself, what is wrong if FG employed youths in real estate and payed them salaries as they are paying civil servants, but unlike civil servants, these salaries are not without outcomes, the outcomes are the millions of exquisite and modern buildings and infrastructure available for average Nigerians which they can rent at affordable rates monthly. This is what China is doing, most of their youth graduates are either in construction or manufacturing. This is also a great way to bridge the gap between the rich and poor, because if housing construction is done by the government and other private participants who are real estate professionals, the quality of accommodation will improve greatly and for all.

A well honed real estate is a great avenue to provide millions of jobs for the youths. Sincerely speaking, if I were a president, this what I would do.

You are not the only one. I have 800k yet I haven't been able to get a 2br in Lagos for almost 2 years. They keep showing me boys quarters or uncompleted flats. The worst is the agent and agreement fees keep increasing. Now they are calling 130k for both. Nigeria is just getting worse by the day and the there is no hope of it ever getting better. I can't wait to leave this useless place.

We are not ready for this conversation.

This is the best thing now, but even landlords of old properties are either renovating and dividing it to get more flats. Or they increase their rents because they know the drill.

However, if one is lucky to see a decent old flat with enough parking space (very important), just take it and upgrade to your taste.
Funny. Landlords of these days are extremely greedy and heartless! After you've upgraded it to your taste, the landlord will either increase your rent or give you quit notice so the next tenant can pay much more. Talking from experience and I've also seen it happen again and again

Your opening statement is very correct

People think these boys action don't affect us adversely..same thing in PH

Any new building u go to price, they be telling u from 600k upwards for 2 bed because lots of them are even paying extra money to landlord and for 2-3 yrs....

I wish state governments can enact laws to stop all these
one poorly built newly constructed 2bedrooms at my street the owner pegged it at 400k per annum, then further openned his smelly mouth that he doesn't want yahoo boys. Who will pay 400k for a 2bedroom if not a thief?

Yahoo boys ruined everything most of them only move in an apartment after they cashout, and after the first year they can't renew the rent again then they will gather all their friends to live with them so they can split the rent imagine 5boys in a 2bedroom apartment and the rent is 250-300k.

Same Yahoo boys are making unclean prostitute to feel like they are made of gold, imagine a prostitute demanding N25,000 for the same toilet every other person has used and will still use after you. What exactly are these boys paying for?

Anyways na them sabi
Not true, it's a case of demand and supply. Government needs to build high rise apartments like Sir Jakande did in the past, competition, more supply of apartments will stabilize the rent Price.

How can a person have over 300,000 Naira and still can’t afford any descent house? How did we get here?

The first time I moved out of my parents house In 2018 I literally rented a house for 40,000 naira a year, and it was a room self contain in delta.

Today there is no single room self contain below 200-250,000 naira, and that’s even the ones in rural areas, anyone in town is from 300k and above, and yes just a room !!! Wtf is happening?

I’m so worried about Nigerians, am I the only one facing these issues or is every one so rich they can easily pay 300k for a damm single room apartment

The inflation currently going on in Nigeria, particularly in Abuja and Lagos is hyper. I wish more could be done to mitigate this issue. However, it's either the government doesn't care or are equally confused and overwhelmed by the whole situation.

Never seen this happen. Usually they wait for you to leave before increasing the rent of your flat. Everything you put should be removable. I would never understand breaking ground to install tiles in another man’s house.

Truth be told, yahoo boys are the reason for rent increase in asaba, God punish these yahoo boys aka armed robbers
Yahoo boys are not the reason, lack of proper rentage laws are. Some landlords collect 'landlord's drink' when you want to rent their apartment and the money they ask you to pay for the landlord drink is at their own discretion and you also have some that increase rent every year. Na yahoo boys dey cause those ones too? The average black man is inconsiderate, wicked and greedy

2 bed room flat 400k yearly embarassed
I rented the house for 300k yearly at start
After another my landlord add 50k after another year he added another 50k
I just tire because i no next year he will add money again .

Wow...you're so lucky! What state are you in? 2bed in Lagos is on an average rent of 800k per annum. Most landlords and developers don't even build a 3 bed anymore because the. current price is out of reach of most people.

Bro aswear to God, you just said my mind, I'm currently looking for a one bed room with a yearly budget of 300k, can you imagine that i could get a conducive apartment, the flats i saw were from 400k and above for just a one bed room flat oh, i have been depressed since yesterday, honestly! Lagos Government especially under this sanwo olu i will say is the worst, i think the cause of all this, is below there are no low cost housing built by government, May God bless late lateef jakande. I think he was the one that spear headed low cost housing. Sanwo olu has no vision for lagos. Lagos Land lord don't have competition that's why they are increasing rent any how they like.

things have gone crazy in Nigeria bro. Even the government wants to sell a pint of petrol for an unimaginable 300 naira if possible. The ripple effect is not only felt on rents. As of today, a bag of rice sells for 28,000 naira. Imagine that figure bro? Some serious measures needs to be taken in dealing with inflation generally. God has blessed Nigeria enormously but some have turned it to their family inheritance. Inflation no be our mate o.

He keeps adding money to the rent yearly. The tenant never entered any agreement with the landlord for yearly increment of #50000. We will rather settle this in the court, that is if he can find my new location, after staying one year in his house, without paying a dime. NONSENSE
