It is called a National sacrifice. Amunike did not want to work with Rohr because of Rohr's negative ideology. Eguavoen shares an offensive philosophy and they are friends and former teammates. Eguavoen was also his captain.

I just hope they won’t have issues

If there is corporation between both of them then there is nothing to be worried of

National sacrifice ? Hmmmmmmmm

Some players didn’t made it to the afcon under eguavoen and some people where accusing eguavoen, some where even crying that bassey that didn’t play under rohr didn’t make the squad but I defended the squad ,my opinion was that akpoguma should have made the squad ahead of ndah and Ebuehi ahead of shehu and nothing much ,I didn’t even take it too serious self

A whole boss like amunike go work under eguavoen, someone that’s even interested in the job ,water don pass garri grin

Majority of our local coaches are shady but I am still glad eguavoen is in charge even though amunike might have some little influence

now you get what I was trying to point out bro wink
If water pass garri then we wait make garri soak or reduce water grin

Well the siasia issues and salisu won't make me dispute that anyway but we should always give them some benefit of doubt sometimes wink

I think he is the third coach now behind Lillo, the short man in the picture. Guardiola rates Rodolfo highly. He has been a big part of the team.

Maybe so but he too like DEAL under the table.

Judging by what has transpired since d last 7years in our national team..personally speaking, I won't be moved again by who is invited and who is not invited to a match or tournament as d case maybe..all I am after is good football and result..if d present coaching crew feels "d entire nassarawa united players only" can give dem d desired outcome and achieve d two purpose of "good football and result". I remember Obafemi Martins was invited against Kenya and to be sincere not the same Obagoal.....Ike Uche fall out with Keshi during 2013 Afcon and no coach will take a player to WC who don't follow his instructions....Ideye indifferent form didn't do justice to his exclusion...remember Keshi didn't want Osaze just cos during 2008 Olympic,Osaze criticized Siasia openly and 2010 WC criticized the technical team for preferred Chinedu Obasi ahead of him,no coach wants such player but Keshi was prevailed on he made the team but they still had little disagreements.

Chinedu Obasi and Emma Sarki allegations are baseless cos as at then they can't make the team.....Obasi was having injury crises and Sarki cannot even make Nigeria number five super eagles team.

Every tournament squad will typically have 2 or 3 surprise or questionable selections to coaches preferences e.g. Nwakali. However, you start to have problems when you have up to 6 questionable selections which really weakens a teams bench like Keshi's 2014 squad. For example, when Onazi got hurt the players available on the bench to take his place were Ramon Azeez and Gabriel Reuben. At that time Azeez was still lacking confidence and Reuben though a good player was very far from being match fit since he had spent several months on the sidelines from injury.

Also, how the likes of Uchebo, Ewuekwe, Agbim, Amoebi, and Babatunde made the squad is a mystery to me. Yes Babatunde gave a decent account of himself, however, we had better options at that time.

Bros, that 2014 squad reeked of corruption...The likes of Eguekwe, Ruben, Babatunde, Agbim, Uchebo and Ameobi etc had no business in that team.

Uzoenyi gets a pass cos he was the MVP at the CHAN but it was hard justifying his place while the likes of Uche ike, Obasi, Aluko etc were left out. It was a disgrace..
We forget things so easily in this country and it's the reason why people like OBJ , Good luck Jonathan, IBB are national heroes today and someone like Sunday Igboho will wake up on a good side of his bed one morning and become a freedom fighter/liberator... In 5 years' time Buhari too (if he is still alive) will be offering advice on how to grow the economy, because we would have forgotten how terribly he handled the economy

My point is.. prior to and during the 2013 nation's cup, Ike uche was fighting Keshi, he wanted to turn himself to a mafia leader in the super eagles forgetting that Keshi himself was a master mafia, there was no way he could have made the world cup squad even if his name was Messi.
Obasi was always injured and unreliable, Aluko too was in decline... He couldn't even make the AFCON winning team the year before (2013) Eguekwe, Odunlami, Oboabona were giving stellar performances at the heart of the defence.. heck Oboabona even retired Yobo to the bench (because he was better) Agbim was third choice ( he was never going to play anyway), Michael babatunde justified his inclusion in the squad before injury ended his tournament...
Please guys kill this talk abeg

When I remember his tears after missing the penalty that confirmed their defeat in AFCON 2002 (where they were the best team) ironically against Cameroon, I feel happy for him...20 years later, he does it as a coach.

Cisse has in the past argued against appointing these white journeymen as coaches in Africa.

If we must hire a foreigner, let's go for the elite else we stick with our local coaches.

Before we all scream in excitement about Cisse and local coaches.Do you know that Aliou Cisse was allowed to employ 2-3 foreign expatriates to work for him?

During Samson Siasia tenure he mostly went with his right hand man, kalika, who was paid in USD as his match reader/strategiest. He was successful then, the times Siasia didn't meet his objectives coincided with NFF not making provision for kalika and he didnt do well without him..

I just pray these local coaches do not take us back to the dark ages where we had the likes of Oshaniwa, Chiogozie agbim, Egwuekwe, Ruben Gabriel, Uchebor, Ebenezer kunle, Uche Nwofor etc in our squad to the WC.

I have said several times, this is first hand not media reports.

Some Aluko after doing so well in the SE ,he was in EPL then with Hull. Was dropped without explanation no call up given to him.

A certain bullish coach , demanded he change his agent and signe be with his agent and move to an Turkey.

Of course Sone told him where to go.

But he NEVER got called back to the SE.

There is not just historical but generational institutionalised Corruption, Nepotism, Godfatherism and favouritism that pervades the NFF in its entirety.

This is the reality.

We have a lot of them who have done so well and wasn't called up.

Until you can pin the new coaches to any wrongdoing, why not give them the benefit of doubt?

Or wasn't Aguero doing so well before Guardiola benched him for Gabriel Jesus? Or there was some underhand dealings too?

Do you know the meaning of benching someone ?

Throughout aguero time in the epl he got more game time than Jesus apart from his last season where he was injured almost all season

Rotating a player doesn’t mean you are benching him

Here's what Amokachi have to say about Ideye been dropped for the WC in 2014.

"..Brown for me was one player that I regret that we did not take to the World Cup in 2014,

Hundred percent I didn't know how he didn't make that list," he added. "I never saw it coming that he didn't make the list till when the list came out and we found out.

"I think I probably had a lot of fights with some people that I shouldn't have, but it happened because I saw no reason why such a player should be left out.

We ended up going to the World Cup with players that even me I don't even know.

Four of those combined caps (two each) were in the friendlies just before the squad was named

"I think it is very tough if a coach is already an agent," Amokachi continued. "It is very, very difficult, and that is why I always say you cannot be a coach and be an agent at the same time.

"When the World Cup comes around, you always have a lot of new players showing up," he added. "Players who will decide that they are Nigerians and bring confusion into the team.

"When you find yourself in that situation, you try to advise, because you have agents that will be calling left, right and centre.

"If a coach is an agent, he will fall a victim too. Those are things that we really really need to avoid. There is no room to be trying new players..."

Well, we’ve had 5 years of uninspiring gernot rohr + I’m not very sold on peseiro anyway, so I don’t mind the combo of Eguavoen and Amuneke.

First of all they are Nigerians, they are team mates and also friends, besides Amuneke visited the team at the afcon to show you say everything is zzehhbetween them.

To allay most people fears here, I don’t think some shady shady things will happen before World Cup, I mean bulk, infact, almost all the guys at afcon will probably be at the World Cup, maybe 2-5 addition and subtraction. I believe the era of bringing some guy from the cloud is gone or almost, before you make the team, we must see you have consistent top class performance, I mean, the coaching crew will definitely not drop Dennis who is in red top form in the EPL over some scrawny player, it’ just won’t work.

Lastly, im relishing the combo, yes we jah for 2 nd round at the Afcon but everyone saw our team and how we played, We’ve always suspected we can play better and not have our wings clipped. Both are attacking coaches, both will complement each other and improve our already improving team.

I was so angry that year. Imagine an injured Reuben Gabriel making the AFCON squad and subsequently the WC and being paid match bonuses for all matches from friendlies to the tournaments totalling over $120k.

Reuben was injured before AFCON, during AFCON and after AFCON. He was barely fit when he was included in the WC squad. And it wasn't even a secret.

Musa, Reuben, Uchebo, Nwofor and Rabiu Ibrahim all had one agent.. His name is Tony Harris..

I know people make mistakes in life but it took me so long to forgive Keshi for trying to destroy my love for Nigerian football. But he is not the only one doing it. Our Youth football coaches are the biggest crooks.

Andrew, did you know that Daniel Amokachie made France 98 team as injured player...did you know Emma Amuneke was not really fit for Atlanta 96...Ben Iroha was half fit prior to US 94.....when coaches believe in a player it happen...If you don't know it was glaring that Chiedozie Awaziem was injured prior to just concluded Afcon but technical crew believe they can manage it and if Nigeria progressed we would have seen Awaziem.
you can’t be comparing those names with Gabriel, at least we know what a fit Amokachi can do, do we know what Gabriel can do?

I know a lot will insult me for saying this again but a lot of shady deals happened during keshi’s time with the national team even before the 2013 afcon. Even the then nff had no say in his team because he was backed by top politicians direct from the presidency .

Keshi was a mafia and a strong one at that who was untouchable during Jonathan’s reign as the president which is the reason his shady deals with player racketing was a kind of open for all to see

He felt like a demi God and I bet you that if Jonathan won his 2nd tenure keshi would have remained the coach of the national team till his untimely demise

I remember vividly when pinnick took over from maigari his first move was to sack keshi but he was seriously warned not to attempt it. Have you asked yourself why keshi got the boot immediately buhari won the 2015 elections?

I will say it and continue to say it that keshi remain the most corrupt local coach to handle the super eagles

I laugh when some people say the squad list was justified. Reuben was even named in the Confederations Cup squad, it was only after his manager at Kilmarnock said publicly that he doesn't understand why an injured player was named in the Nigerian squad that Keshi dropped him.

How about the fight between Pinnick, who was then Delta State FA chairman and Keshi over the latter's percentage share for the transfer of Sunday Mba to Bastia, that initially scuttled the deal?

At the WC in 2014, we were going toe to toe with France, until Onazi got injured and had to be replaced by Gabriel, who obviously was not up to par. The tide of the game changed in France's favour with the introduction of Gabriel and eventually the SE buckled under pressure and conceded 2 goals.

I wonder if Fegor Ogude or John Ogu, both played well in the Confederations Cup the previous year, had been on the bench, maybe the result would have been different.

It's also strange that the following players, Odunlami, Nwofor, Uzoenyi, Uchebo and Ameobi either got little or no minutes at the WC and were not called up again after the WC for the duration of Keshi's reigns as SE coach.

It makes one wonder whether the purpose for their invitation has been fulfilled.

no right thinking coach who has the luxury of players scattered in top leagues all over Europe will ignore them for local based players in the name of quota system as witnessed during keshi’s time with the super eagles. All was to make way for desperate home based players as a marketing tool to ship them off to obscure leagues in Europe and Asia

Keshi knew it will be difficult to coerced exposed pros in top European leagues to dump their agents and sign with his management team inorder to have a chance in the national team so he gave almost 50% slot to local based players who will do whatever he says just to make the team

All those 2 months training with local based players when you have seasoned pros in europe was just waste of tax payers money cheesy

Imagine dropping an Imoh Ezekiel who had over 15 goals in that season in the colors of one of Belgians top clubs standard liege for a Uchebo from the same league who didn’t score up to 6 goals with relegation strugglers cercle
brugge

Until then taiye Taiwo was our best left back and was doing well in the colors of dynamo kiev with ideye and lukman but they all got ignored just to make room for oshaniwa and co

Abdul ajagun was in his 1st season with Greek giants panathiniakos and performed well but was not deemed good enough for a chance in the team

Uche and martins were banging in goals for their clubs but got ignored

Aluko was doing well with hull city and arguable their best player in the championship then but he never got a chance. Even prior to the afcon triumph a year before the World Cup he was the shining light in Glasgow rangers but to keshi he wasn’t good enough and uzoenyi was better than him

Do you know eve to the submission of the World Cup list keshi and the nff had a big fight because Osaze wasn’t listed for the tournament? It took last minute intervention of top officials in the nff to add his name

Mk una leave tori for another day

I wonder if Fegor Ogude or John Ogu, both played well in the Confederations Cup the previous year, had been on the bench, maybe the result would have been different.

It's also strange that the following players, Odunlami, Nwofor, Uzoenyi, Uchebo and Ameobi either got little or no minutes at the WC and were not called up again after the WC for the duration of Keshi's reigns as SE coach.

It makes one wonder whether the purpose for their invitation has been fulfilled.

I laugh when some people say the squad list was justified. Reuben was even named in the Confederations Cup squad, it was only after his manager at Kilmarnock said publicly that he doesn't understand why an injured player was named in the Nigerian squad that Keshi dropped him.
