Saw this pic in the archives. Never knew Sam Haastrup flew the F-7ni too. Only saw him flying the Alpha Jets in the North East. At a time, some peeps regarded him as the most feared fighter pilot in the Nigerian Airforce. I'm not sure about now.

So we hear the President flew to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the AU Summit rather than to Ghana. Quite a snub to Accra. Gives you an idea of what Nigerian Presidents think of some of these little republics they often have to bail.

ALLEGATION OF DELAYED PAYMENT OF SOLDIERS' JANUARY SALARY MISLEADING, INCITING

The Nigerian Army (NA) has been notified of a publication by Sahara Reporters alleging that personnel of the Nigerian Army lamented delay in payment of their January salary, with many paid peanuts, while Generals feed fat. This report is not only misleading, but a grandiose attempt to incite personnel against established precept of discipline in the NA. For avoidance of doubt, since the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya assumed command, he has prioritized the welfare of officers, soldiers and their families, including ensuring prompt payment of salaries, allowances and all statutory entitlements to personnel. Therefore, the allegation suggesting delay and non implementation of new salary increase is a reckless falsehood in all its intent and purposes.

It must be emphasised, that over the years, the NA has built a reputation and unbroken record of prompt payment of salaries and allowances. Officers and soldiers get their monthly salaries and allowances as at when due.

Additionally, if there is any envisaged delay, troops are usually communicated through the internal communication mechanism.

It is therefore instructive to state that for the month of January, all salaries and allowances have been paid. The attempt to stir up discontent and whip up sentiment with regards to the unsubstantiated and baseless report that Generals feed fat is an outrageous frivolity. It is an attempt to incite personnel against the institution and cause disaffection in the ranks and should therefore be outrightly discountenanced.

The NA wishes to call on all credible media to distance themselves from the apparent unprofessional and disgraceful yellow journalism practiced by some media channels and purveyors of fake of news. Our troops are in high spirit and would not be distracted by any mischievous submission by agent provocateurs.

You dey craze well well. Nigeria paid salaries of Ghana soldiers? can you post your evidence so the whole world will see it? You are just a fooolish liar. You better focus on nigeria and nigerians. what nigerians need is food, electricity, security and a future for their children and families.

Today, Nigerians don't have food, they don't have security, they don't have electricity. they don't even have a future for their children and their families. and you are here talking like a f00l? grin

Nigeria continued to bear over 70% of the financial cost for sustaining ECOMOG in Sierra Leone. A BBC news source had put the cost of Nigeria’s involvement in Sierra Leone at almost 8 billion dollars (Sierra Leone profile, 2008). Nigeria had not only spent a lot on welfare, allowances, food, medical and other essential needs alongside the equipment, logistics and weapons of contributing countries, but was also paying the salaries and allowances of their troops (Kusa, 2007). However, all this becomes insignificant when one considers the painful fact that a large number of troops died because they lacked sufficient body armor, welfare, and logistics while fighting,

Bro the thing weak me fa.

Chassis and armored capsule separate like that, Maka why?!!

Even on war duty na heavy explosion dey cause this Kain thing, and in most cases the vehicle survives far better than this one has.

Substandard vehicles? Or jazz?

Hmmm.. NAVMC and DMI should please investigate this to prevent repeat, especially if it is found to be vehicle/mechanical failure.

RIP and Godspeed to the fallen gallant men!

It's not impossible actually.

If I remember correctly we are the first to deploy the Isotrex Phantom 2 for any form of combat operations worldwide.

The above could result in this very painful albeit unavoidable battle innoculation for the Army as an institution.

Even the big boys suffer such incidents as examples on Google abound.

May this sad incident instill a stronger safety culture throughout the Nigerian Army.

Once again, RIP to the fallen and may their deaths not be in vain.

The vehicle is too new to have been involved in a blast incident.

Plus many of this model were deployed to the East from depot
