blamingthedevil:Local production of goods do not happen with a magic wand. It needs power, security, favourable economic policies, good road network, boosting the supply local raw materials, and a list of others You guys should stop singing this local production, as if Dangote and Flour mills are enjoying the way they import wheat so we can eat bread |
| Re: Bola Tinubu Visits Sultan Of Sokoto by blamingthedevil(op): 11:19pm On Feb 14, 2022 |
izzou:But, will you say lack of all these things, we should fold our hands and be looking like zoombies ? No country in the world has all these you mentioned in place, but they develop in complimentary form. American is crying about infrastructures too until recent infrastructures act , thanks to President Biden |
| Re: Bola Tinubu Visits Sultan Of Sokoto by izzou(m): 11:30pm On Feb 14, 2022 |
blamingthedevil:Power is a huge problem for Nigeria, and you are talking about local production. Which developed and developing country still struggle with power? Even Ghana is far better. Anybody coming in should not even bring that nonsense song of local production. There is a reason people are running away from producing locally. Fix it first, and the same people would run back here. |

I urge all traditional rulers and indeed all dignitaries to wrap their seats with a rubber mackintosh whenever Tinubu is coming around on a visit so as not to endure what Awujale passed through few days ago. That thing use to smell well well ![]() |

izzou:You are so on-point. Honestly, if I could offer advice to any of the candidates on boosting local production, it will be as follows: 1. Create an Industrial zone (Manufacturing hub) preferably in the South West or South South that has access to the sea. It could be one of the already existing FTZs i.e. Olokola, Lekki or Ikot Abasi. 2. Develop massive infrastructure there i.e. Seaport, Airport, Independent Power Supply Structure, Massive Road/Rail network that connects to other existing arterial transport systems to move goods to the hinterland. 3. Provide comprehensive and business friendly security framework. 4. Provide an enabling business environment. Preferably digitized and highly optimized to guarantee smooth processing of permits and ease of access to getting things seamlessly done with government regulators. Maybe even establish an Agency for this purpose. 5. Massive Tax holidays perhaps up to 10 years. In return, extract commitment for each company to contribute 2.5% of Gross profits towards an Industrial Development Fund. 6. Build on a massive scale, low and medium cost housing projects adjacent to the FTZ with dedicated transport links to convey persons in and out. 7. Provide a comprehensive guarantee to any company willing to invest in the Manufacturing hub of an investment payback of up to 70% if their project fails due to any shortcomings the government's part. This is just a rough idea, but if this is done successfully in one place, it can be replicated to another location, and on to another and in due time we also will become a Manufacturing centre. This in addition to our growing Service industry will make us an economic superpower in Africa. It will have a ripple effect on the strength of our currency, unemployment will be tackled and the GDP base will rise even further. This is what China did step by step with the help of the United States to become the economic superpower that they are today. The only problem though is labour. While we have abundance of labour here in Nigeria, majority of them are unskilled labour. We need serious educational reforms on a short-medium-long term basis to correct this. |

Good job to our incoming president (that is if power is to shift southwards). In life, you get what you put in it, and Tinubu will surely reap the rewards of his hard work. Personally, I’ll like power to remain in the north, but Tinubu’s political work ethics is giving me a different opinion. So, just as I admired Buhari for working so hard to attain the presidency after 4 attempts, is thesame way I now admire Tinubu for his persistency and consultation. I hope any would-be young politicians will learn a thing or two from this and not feel entitled to office, like some people from a certain region whose stock in trade is to cry and whine like b1tches on heat. God bless a true patriot, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You have cemented your name in the annals of Nigeria’s political history. You have earned your place alongside political heavyweights like: Ahmadu Bello, Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikwe, Tafa Balewa, Aminu Kano, Tom Ikimi, Michael Opara, Shehu Shagari, Lateef Jakande and co. Even your enemies shall continue to prophecy your name……Tinubu,,,Tinubu,,,,Tinubu,,,Tinubu |
