Read it 28yrs ago. Thank God I am still alive.
I only have just 1 contact of my primary school friend. Last day of my primary school "graduation" 1997. All class mates assembled in front of my house, was a street from my school, sang songs for about an hour, with dancing and rejoicing. That would be the last day I will ever see 98% my mate. #Nolstagic

This is primary 3 Reader..it's not a novel.

Edet or Ali and simbi on Christmas day. Their father bought chicken to celebrate it.

Mehn...this takes me down memory lane and reminds me of my pry 3 teacher, Mr. Ibikunle. Very tall and grumpy old.
I remember, on one of our reading days, I just looked away for a sec and he threw a wooden duster at me and the thing hit me on the fore head. undecided.

Modified:
Wait o. If like many claimed, this is actually Ali and simbi, how come their father is Igbo? Is Ali an igbo name? Or even simbi? That is not Mr Nwosu lipsrsealed. I think it should be Mr Dada or something. grin.

Op I stand to be corrected. It is not Xmas day,it is a Friday. It goes thus.."today is Friday, Edet and his cousins are eating chicken and rice. Can you see Edet? Can you see the chicken? Can you see the bowlful of rice?

Now our publishers have been affected seriously by corruption! They are in for business not for the learning pleasure of pupils.

I don’t have any contact of my primary school classmates. I have many contacts of my secondary school classmates because that was the period Facebook was created. For my university friends, I still keep in touch with them though the very close ones.

This is Macmillan Primary English Course 2. It was a textbook for primary 2 pupils, and I used it in 1997. This textbook version is no longer in production though.

Here is the passage, culled from my memories:

Mr. Nwosu has two daughters and four sons. They are preparing for Christmas. Nkechi is sweeping the floor, and Mary is cutting the pineapple with a knife. Mrs. Nwosu is cooking the rice. There are some tomatoes on the table near the big pot. Mr. Nwosu is holding two big chickens.
The girls are happy. They like Christmas time. They like eating chicken and rice, and they like singing Christmas songs.

I belong to primary school of 70s, therefore, my generation does not know this. We used "aláwìíyé" and noec books that we named "Mr Bako, Binta and Bintu".

I think govt should enact a policy that will mandate schools to issue list of books only and not turn to book vendors, also publishers should be stopped from selling books directly to schools, they should go and drop it at a bookshop, while they just take sample copy to schools for marketing purposes only.
Nowadays, you can hardly see students of 3schools within the same area discuss about a particular text read in school just because the school wants to make extra money beyond tuition
