FIGHTING TALK:
Boris Johnson To hold Cobra Meeting Today To Discuss Ukraine After Putin ‘Orders Troops’ Into Rebel Territory

BORIS Johnson
will hold a Cobra meeting this morning to discuss the latest developments in Ukraine, a No 10 spokesperson has said.

The emergency response follows reports Vladimir Putin ordered troops into Ukraine just hours after recognising Russian rebel states following a Bond Villain-style meeting.

The Russian leader signed a decree recognising the independence of separatist regions in eastern Ukraine last night - paving the way to provide them military support.

The move also triggered threats of new sanctions from the US and Europe and further fuelled fears that Russia could imminently invade Ukraine.

Mr Johnson spoke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday evening to pledge Britain’s steadfast support in the face of Russia’s aggression.

And he will use Tuesday's Cobra meeting, which is scheduled to take place at 6.30am, to "coordinate the UK response", including agreeing a "significant package of sanctions to be introduced immediately", the No 10 spokesperson said.

They warned the PM believes an invasion is “a real possibility in the coming hours and days”.

And they added: “The Prime Minister strongly condemned the Kremlin’s decision today to recognise Luhansk and Donetsk as independent states, and said the move made the Minsk agreements and process unworkable."

Putin has now reportedly despatched his troops to enter Ukraine on a "peacekeeping mission" after recognising the regions as independent states.

According to the decree he signed, the Kremlin leader has ordered his defence ministry to order Russian peacekeepers into the breakaway regions.

No date for any deployment was provided by Moscow, with the order saying that it "comes into force from the day it was signed".

In a TV address to the Russian nation tonight, the former KGB officer spoke with frightening fervour about Ukraine's place in Russia's orbit - suggesting his ambitions may extend to a complete takeover.

After a rambling address, he said modern Ukraine was “created” by Russia - before issuing a direct threat.

He ranted: "So you want de-communisation? That suits us.

“But let’s not stop half way. We are prepared to show you what real de-communisation looks like."

It comes after Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said the UK will announce new sanctions against Russia on Tuesday "in response to their breach of international law and attack on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity".

Joe Biden has also "strongly condemned" Putin's decision to recognise the independence of the states as he reassured President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the US' "commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity".

After his speech, Putin
signed decrees recognizing the Donetsk and Luhansk region's independence - eight years after fighting erupted between Russia-backed separatists and Ukrainian forces - and called on lawmakers to approve measures paving the way for military support.

Until now, Ukraine and the West have accused Russia of supporting the separatists, but Moscow has denied that, saying that Russians who fought there were volunteers.

At an earlier meeting of Putin's Security Council, a stream of top officials argued for recognising the region's independence.

Tony Blair followed his good friend, George Bush, to destroy little Saddam Hussein of Iraq. If Boris Johnson follows Joe Biden to fight Russia, it won't be as easy as Iraq.

These Western countries (US and EU) have good diplomats and should continue to use diplomacy in this issue. Unless the US is ready for World War III, they should stop luring Ukraine to join NATO.

The West are trying to wreck The Russian economy with sanctions and are systematically luring Putin into taking aggressive posturings on the Ukraine/NATO issue.. Obviously, Russia needs to act, but with Ukraine insistence on joining NATO, Russias actions can be used to leverage the narrative that Putin is a power hungry dictator, desperate to control all of Eastern Europe.?

Military actions taken by Russia over this, just like in the case of the invasion of cremea, provides the West with the excuse they need to increase sanctions, as they try to shut off Russias expanding energy/gas entanglement with Western Europe. Not a coincidence that this is happening after Angela Mikel..

I used to love Putin. The strong no-nonsense untouchable badass ex-KGB agent, man made of steel. A balance to world power etc etc

I thought and believed Russia to be non-expantionist. Loved that country for their resolute willpower throughout history. From the fire of Moscow to Stalin's snipers in Stalingrad, I have loved this country of theirs.

But in this past few weeks I have made time for reflection on the man Putin.

The respectable demeanor and aura he carried has been reduced to dust, revealing another power hungry, devilish Hitler.

I am horribly disturbed by his flagrant disregard for rules of engagement. One a KGB agent should know better about.

Declare recognition for parts of a sovereign State. And then decree troops be deployed into a sovereign state?

This is unacceptable by any standard.

What a low-life cunning way to invade a sovereign State. Some hype it as a game of chess. I call it con.

Watching a man I so much revered talking nonsense history and making an utter fool of himself on TV. Couldn't believe it's same Vladimir Putin I could argue to the moon & back for.

Except China who's waiting to play same script on Taiwan, anybody supporting this insanity just because they hate America should have his/her head checked.

He is saying all the Anti-Putin activists can gather in one place, declare themselves a sovereign State and have other nations recognize them.

He referenced how a country can not pursue it's security to the detriment of another country, what exactly has he just done?

Well, by this provocative action of his, if Ukraine doesn't immediately formally apply to join NATO, then something is wrong.

UK?
Same country responsible for the death of over 100K Irish and same government that deployed massive troops to N.Ireland against their will.

Same UK that went to war with Argentina over a land that is closer to Argentina.
