This is my favourite clause;

10. Clause 84 stipulates that anyone holding a political office – ministers, commissioners, special advisers, and others – must relinquish the position before they can be eligible to participate in the electoral process either as a candidate or as a delegate.

Will Prof Osinbajo, Ameachi, Dave Umahi, Orji Uzor Kalu and Rochas Okorocha resign by June 2022 so as to participate in the 2023 Election

.

Wicked...

That's a horrible gamble.

It didn’t say Elected political office holders, aside Amaechi who is a political appointee , the rest of the list can contest without resigning... and it’s worthy to note, this law as been in place ever since.

The law is vague tho "political office" can be elective or appointment based

I hope they follow these rules to the letters. Because the politicians will always run to the judiciary who will misinterprete the law in order to suit their clients there creating an uproar.

It's talking of appointed political officers like ministers, commissioners, advisers etc and not elected officers like gov, pres, legislators.

We're getting there gradually. I'm.so happy. To those who might be thinking this was Buhari's making, you might just he deceiving yourselves. The UN had been pressurising this government underneath to sign the bill into law or face sanctions, just the same way the same organisation had been pressurising them to remove subsidy. Everyone is sick and tired of kill8ngs arising from the electoral fraud and malpractice.

To all those ballot box snatchers, your engagement with pioiticians is over. If you like burn down the whole collation centre to favour your paymasters, it doesn't matter cos the results would never be lost.

I wonder why our greedy politicians would say no to electoral reform Bill this day and age. Some of them would be granting channelstv interviews from their remote villages,.make phone calls , even send money to their side chicks, mistresses and mayguard without hitches. We know what they're afraid of.

Many of our law makers won't return next year with this development. Power now belongs to the people and I see all the lucky ones among them working very hard to retain their seats now cos it won't be business as usual. They must show what they've done to their constituencies. No more sitting in abuja and be enjoying tax payers money. I've not seen Senator Adeola in my constituency in Lagos since 2019. He only shows up in agbada when election is approaching.

I think Okorocha should be exempted, he was voted in as a senator and not holding appointments position.
Meanwhile, will all the governors seeking reelection too resigns, including all legislators ?

That No. 10 is the hammer on their heads no wonder they don't want the bill to succeed.

Umahi, Amaechi(Mr Turnaniscal bolock), Emefiele, Osibanjo etc howmarket?

One or thing us missing: if you win any seat and defect that seat must be declared vacant and the defector can not contest in any election for that seat.

Of course it would when all this sanctions pile up together. Remember the days of Germany and when they were carrying Bundle of money in wheel barrow to buy a single bread.

Russia would get the worst of the worst. One thing U.S, UK and the top gunners of Nato members hate is to be dared.

This only affects Ameachi who is a political appointee not the others who are elected.

Otherwise, everyone who holds an office with hopes of participating in an election has to resign.
