Most of you clamored for Amoo, he made the List. We wish for Simon and Lookman on both Wings, we have it. We hope for a Combo of Dennis and Osimhen in Attack, we have it.

We want a real Steel in midfield that brings something different to Ndidi, we have it. We want Collins out of the Squad for Bassey, we have it. We want a Return of Balogun to the Squad, we have it.

We want Ejuke, Nwakali replaced because we are not satisfied with them, we have it.

We can't have all, and apparently we can't be 100% pleased. Good List by the way..... 95% a good List.

Nothing wey we never see for this call up before..

But being on standby is more understandable than having Shehu being on the main list while in the Turkish second division.. Or clubless Musa..

Haba bro, Is Ahmed Musa club less? No
Has he been featuring regularly for his club? Yes.
Shehu Abdullahi is at best average and does well against African opponents.
Etebo is just returning from injury so I expected him to be excused but reports has it that he has been featuring for Watford's under 23. The coaching crew would have invited Bonke in his place or Simon Tijani of Salzburg.
Not surprised to see Awoniyi on standby neither Onauchu.

Don't know how Onazi made it to the standby list leaving out guys like Obonna,Yusuf etc

Good to see Amoo, Dennis and lookman in the foray.

The list is 95% excellent with the exception of Etebo who is not yet back to full fitness and Onazi on standby where as there are younger and better performers in Midfield.

I think Doherty has some level of influence on this. Firstly, Eguavoen did attend his live sessions during AFCON. He also heavily supported him to retain the job. Post AFCON he was the one who first started talking about recalling Onazi, before he met with Eguavoen and Amuneke in London.

It's a good list. I don't see reason for much complaints. Rohr did worse.

Nah... Akpoguma is good
He deserves a place in the team.
He captained the German side that eliminated us during the u20worldcup in 2015 and he has been solid

First of all, let me say that I am not actually surprised to see this list. Rohr is gone, so we’re going to to applying the ‘Nigerian factor’ in sending out player invite.

Can anyone tell me how did onazi make the standby list? I am a big fan of Etebo but how did he make the list when he hasn’t played in more than 6 months? Why do we keep wasting slots on the likes of Musa and Ighalo when we have young and hungry strikers like Awoniyi, Onuachu, Ejuke, Onyekuru, etc.

And by the way, are we punishing Alex Iwobi for picking up a red card? And at the same time, it seems we’re rewarding Emmanuel Dennis for snubbing the team when we needed him most!

Nigeria, we hail thee!

What did the young and hungry strikers do at Afcon? Punishing Iwobi?

We have Blackpool captain. Our opponents are more aggressive in trying to boost their squad and it seems we are just playing safe with familiar names.

Look at our midfield also. Why are we still reluctant in calling up Alhassan Yusuf and Obinna Nwobodo?

TheLoneCitizen:

I don't really have a problem with Shehu, because Ebuehi, the only competition has not proven to be consistent at club level.

If there is a quota that calls for an ethnic balance in the Super Eagles, it makes sense that that position is used to fill it.

This list shows that the coaching crew monitors our players and listens to conversations among football fans.

Impressive list. Those not included can't do better than those on that list.

My only problem is Onazi being on the standby list.
It doesn't portray the coaching crew in good light.
It shows they might be easily influenced.

Thank you. Etebo has no business in this list.
We all can't agree on all the names. But we want the best performing players always.

Ighalo is still performing. You can't make argument for Musa being a captain when you have Nwakaeme clearly better in the same league, although I don't fancy the latter.

Well, everyone will not get to play. Let's hope those they pick to play deliver.
The war is going to be in the midfield. I hope our attackers will be at their best.

First of all( go down low) back to the topic. Don't you know that Iwobi isn't eligible for the game. Next time if you don't know, ask and don't wallow in obvious ignorance.
Didn't you see inclusion of Amoo, Bassey and Luku, isn't that commendable?

My bro and friend, remember Tubaba song, broda e, i still dey feel you o, one luv!!!

Akpoguma's case is very similar to Nwakaeme's case. Two players who were both played out of position and since then haven't gotten a chance to truly express themselves in their natural positions.

At least Akpoguma got multiple call ups. Nwakaeme hasn't been called up since the Algeria game.
