Good morning everyone,

I am new here and kindly seek your advice.

I recently got a fully funded PhD offer with a tuition waiver and stipend of $31,000 per annum. I have two daughters aged 7 and 2 years. The 2 year old is a US citizen. I wish to go with my husband and two daughters. My questions are as follows:

1. Is this stipend amount enough to cover for a family of four? If not, how do I calculate the amount needed?

2. Do I need to include my two year old, who is a citizen, in my I-20 as a dependent and consequently apply for F2 visa for her?

3. If the two-year old won't be applying for F2, it means her upkeep cost will not be reflected in the I-20. Should I, nonetheless, let this reflect in my POF?

4. My older daughter and husband were denied J2 visa twice in 2018 (before my baby was born) when they applied with me as dependents. Only my J1 was approved as it was self funding then. Would this affect their chances of getting F2 visas this time?

5. Is it likely the VO would ask for proof of payment of hospital bills for the birth of my younger daughter? I completed all payments, though it was by installments.

6. Due to past refusals, I'm thinking of applying with my older daughter first, when we get approval, my husband can then apply for his. Or should we all apply at once?

7. Finally, my daughter's Nigerian passport and mine will expire in June 2023. The PhD program is for 5 years. Do we need to renew our passports before applying for the F1/F2 visa?

I will be most grateful if I get answers to these questions as I have no one else to ask.

Thank you.
1. You didn't disclose the university or the city you will be studying. That will help answer your question appropriately.

2. I stand to be corrected, you will have to ask your school to send you dependent sevis I-20

3. Yes, with her study arrangement, the VO will ask you of this.

4. No

5. I don't think the VO will ask about that, but to be on the safer side go with them.

6. Apply with your 2years old. While you husband apply with the older child.

7. You can only renew 6 months to the expiration of your passport. You can also renew at the Nigerian embassy in US.

Hey house, after accepting your admission, how long does it take before ISSS sends the immigration clearance form.
It's been more than 3 days now and I've not gotten the ICF, I was wondering if I should email them

Congratulations. You have a long list
1. The stipend is suppose to be for the student ideally. For proof of funds, you will have to tell your school that you are coming with 2 dependants and they will calculate amount needed.
2. Your younger daughter doesn't need to apply for visa since she's a citizen.
4. About this, you can't really say. It maybe because the J program was for a short while and also depending on how well the interview went.
5. Yes you may need to go with the birthing receipt just in case
6. You can either apply together or separately. Weigh your options for this.
7. June 2023 is more than a yr from now. You will have to renew while in the US.

Good afternoon everyone. My sponsor is my dad and the school I’m going is in the same state but a different part entirely, my mum is also in the us but a different state because of work. If I’m asked if I have a relation in the us should I mention both my parent. Also what are the documents I need from my sponsor to take to the embassy.
2. I am currently on my Nysc and my school will be resuming September and I will also be passing out by September but I might not wait till then so should I just not include the Nysc when filling my DS-160 form.
Please help a sister thanks
If you’ll be going to SRU fall 2022 please let’s connect

Good morning all.

Please I need help. My interview was rescheduled to March instead of April. And my school TAMUC is yet to send updated I-20 for Summer.

I have called , emailed and done everything in my power, but it’s looking like the updated I-20 won’t come in before my interview date.

Please what should I do? To go with the I-20 for Spring and explain the situation or cancel the appointment?

Your advice will be highly appreciated. Thank you

Have you re-sent your financial documents? Because my friend had to resend her's before receiving the updated i-20.

Summarily, "Closely before or on April 15th."
Though for a different department, that is the response I got when I asked.

Please how long did it take before she got hers?

I’ve re-uploaded the financial documents. The frustrating thing is that I’ve been emailing them since Jan 27th and I was never asked to re-send the financials.

I don’t know if they can process it within 5 days because my interview date is really close

Is August 15 the earliest resumption date or when your classes begin? You can keep checking for closer dates if August 18 is class start and if you don't find you can apply for an expedited appointment, 60days to resumption
Whogochuk:
I just got August 18 visa appointment in Lagos and my I-20 says my program start date is August 15 will that be a problem?
