If you have time, Pay through Form A if you can, open a Revolut, Stirling or Monzo account. Select the Maintenace/upkeep section and credit your UK account and then do the transfer to the landlord Or use Lemonade/OhentPay/Barter by Flutterwave to credit the landlord’s account at black market rate. Here’s the link for Form A , select educational service and at the drop down. It’ll give you various options, select maintenance and upkeep. Have all the required documents ready. https://www.tradesystem.gov.ng/index.html

Best of Luck

But would he be able to open this account without UK phone line? I doubt

Hi guys, please I need assistance with this issue. I bought a car last year with a mileage of 136k, and insurance was £1,234. I know I made a very huge mistake but I was a novice. My Question is how can I reduce the insurance? I’m planning on selling off the car in 6 months time and get another one with lesser mileage, should I sell it off immediately or wait till the 6months? I just don’t want to continue paying this high insurance. What can I do in this situation?

Are you sure the insurance is due to the car. Are you new in the UK? If yes, that might be average you get for insurance. It might even be more depending on the location.

To answer your question, you can always sell whenever you want. Selling it now might mean you will lose the months of insurance history you have acquired.

I believe you can. As a matter of fact, I opened a Wise (Transfer wise) account without a UK phone number, I typed in my Nigerian number plus the dialing code. The only thing I did was put in a UK address of a trusted person as my address so my card could get delivered to them. Transfer wise is another good option, just realised I forgot to mention them.

Like Ticha already said, it’s not always the case that the house appreciates in value. Some people that bought just before the 2008 housing crash have been in negative equity and are just beginning to emerge out of the deficit. For such people, it will probably be cheaper to rent than to pay the mortgage. They are referred to as mortgage prisoners and some of them are not able to switch to cheaper deals due to stricter lending rules after 2008.

In summary, people shouldn’t be in a hurry to get mortgages. Check affordability and ensure that you have enough money to cover your mortgage should things change tomorrow.

We are not always financially buoyant. ........ But the mortgage, still gets paid ........

If you can pay rent continuously, you can also pay a mortgage. ...... If things turn, sell the property........ (to sleep under the bridge)....... grin

Not with negative equity, but affordability from the borrower........

Some people with positive positions, might be facing affordability issues, simply sell and downsize .......

Speak to your employer or GP. If you're looking at a job with the NHS, you'll be scheduled for an appointment (to review your history and give imms as required) with OH so you don't need to sweat it.
Thanks so much

Is this how crazy the market has gotten?

Is it even advisable to buy house in this market? Imagine buying high and market crash!

But then, "rent money equals dead money"-Lexusgs430

So which way to go? Buy or continue renting?

Some people sell their property on purpose at low prices for tax purposes but to family only.

I still don’t get people that argue against this point and vote for renting

If you are not going to hang on to the property for more than 5 years, then you are better off renting. Reason being when you add up the stamp duty , solicitors fees, mortgage fees, repairs during ownership etc ..then it might be better off renting.

Some old buildings will cost you so much to heat up because they have not been insulated properly and there is only so much you can do. The new buildings on the other hand are eco friendly and well insulated. Depending on the location most of their rooms are very big and they are so warm during the winter periods, you don’t really need the heating on for long periods.

I still disagree cus the value of the property after 5 years will most likely not be the same. The rent you are paying is lost (i.e rent money is dead money ~ oga lexusgs430)

Stamp duty , solicitors fee and mortgage fees are all lost money if you are keeping the property for lees than 5 years, there is no guarantee that the property will go up in value within 5 years . It also depends on the location of the property.

Good evening Guys

Trying to book TB test in Abuja for someone. But can’t see any date …..

What’s the process now? How do I register first and pick any date before sending a mail requesting shift of date. No available date in their system again

Oga, I remember many years ago ...... People advised us never to buy a property (that we should just apply through the council, for accommodation)......

That buying a property, was financial slavery........

People should do with our information, how they deem fit........

TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY ......... cheesy

By the time you refuse to buy, and look back ....... May you be pleased with your decisions.......... wink

Contraband items can lead to premium tears.

Beans
Red oil
Fish commercial quantity
Meat commercial quantity.

Etc etc.

Your cargo will be seized

You will still pay for it to be safely destroyed.
