Given the recent occurrence in Lagos, Ogun and other major cities such as Portharcourt it is almost a dangerous thing to be a young, vibrant beautiful lady. Young girls who have been victims of kidnap, rape, robbery, murder and ritual killings committed no offence other than they were ladies.
Nigerian youth have been flooded with the misinformation that the quickest way to wealth is ritual and unfortunately that have misled many into believing that the female body parts can provide wealth, power and protection. Ignoring what the Bible admonishes about hasten ill-gotten wealth has no lasting value (proverbs 10:2 )


Should a young girl go around walking in fear and looking over her shoulders in fear of whom or what is lurking around? After all, girls are social beings, too, and must transition from one place to another irrespective of the danger which looms outside.
Safety tips are not about staying indoors so evil might not fall. Humans are social. Hence this is a clarion call for every parent, brother and sister family and friends to educate young girls and ladies about safety tips, especially those in major cities.


Here is a list of precautionary safety measures a young lady could arm herself with:

Have faith in the protection of God

Except the Lord keeps the city, the watchmen wake but in vain (psa 127:1b)
The horse is prepared for the day of battle but safety is of the Lord. (Pro 21:31)


The above verses showed us that no matter how prepared one is on the day of battle or whatever is gauge a person puts in place of protection, true protection comes from the Lord. We must acknowledge this fact least we trust in our flesh in vain.


Shun late-night movements

Endeavour to leave wherever you are before nightfall. If situations warrant you not leaving before nightfall, have a sleepover when possible, and if you must leave, be alert. Most evils are perpetrated at nightfall. If your life is not worth the risk then don’t take it.


Avoid seeing anywhere or a system as being safe.

Before now, most of us would have argued that the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) was the safest means of transportation, so we threw caution to the wind. But the events of recent happenings have proved otherwise. Be safety conscious at all times even as we trust in the arm of the Lord that He can save us from all evils.


Give Attention to Details

Danger signs are always present only that we don’t give attention to them. Perhaps is because we trust that everywhere or some certain places are safe.
One of the danger signs that would have put off Bamise Ayanwole was that the BRT bus had no light on, yet she boarded because she trusted.
Avoid boarding a bus which had no light on or it’s poorly lit.
Give attention to details of the bus such as bus number, bus colour, the interior design, the route, and the driver and the conductor. Watch for any unusual body language.
Whenever possible, don’t sit at the extreme of the bus, sit somewhere not very far from the door.

Never board an empty bus at night where it’s just you, the driver and maybe the conductor. Never go on a bus mindlessly be safety conscious.


Get someone to involve

It might look as though one can’t have a life of privacy anymore. Well, your life is important so you must guard it even if it means telling at least one person-a family or a friend- your moment per time. Let them know when you are leaving one destination to another. Never assume all is well and no journey is too short for any evil plan to scale.


Use your Social Media

If after ticking all safety boxes right and you notice the ‘kurukere’ movement, my sisters use your social media and raise alarm. Let them hear you already doing a video call and giving out their details. Who knows this might deter any plan they had.


Armed yourself

Your bag is not just to carry other personal items like make-up. Carry a defence tool around such as pepper spray if you are an unavoidable nightcrawler.

Be bold to attack back for God has not given us the spirit of timidity but of power and sound mind.
This article is not to build fear in us, neither is it to build a mentality of ‘evil lurks everywhere’ rather it is to wake us up to being safety conscious even as we draw our protection in the blood and the name of Jesus. Be at peace with yourself knowing God got your back.

..thats why BRT drivers, dey do them yafunyafun..better way again..make them stay for there papa house..is it a must to enter that, unsafe brt bus..are they competing..
