See on every withdrawal you are charged 3cad and the maximum you can withdraw on the atm per day is 500 cad cash and 1k cad online purchase on debit card. Now imagine paying 3cad on every withdrawal you are losing money which is hard to make here. I will advice u change the money to usd and travel with it. You can travel with as much as 10k usd once decleared. If not make it 9k900usd and dont declear nothing will happen becos you havent broken any law. In fact i travelled with around that amount and took it to bureau the change here and converted it to cad and deposited in my account. Its very simple. You can decide to change in bank too just that the price is slightly lower with few cents

This is not entirely true boss, POS and WEB payment with visa card are actually free no charges, while ATM withdrawal charge attract 1.5$ and the limit is 1k$ per day. I get your point about the charges involved but not everyone get that nerve to travel with that kind of money.

Thank you @makano.

My wife got an offer from Seneca for PSW starting January 2023. We plan that she would go with our son while i remain in Nigeria to increase her home ties and also continue with my job before i later join. I hope this works.

makano:
Hello Easy2018

Its actually slim getting your Visa when you going together with your wife, but not impossible..

But if you insist you wanna go together with your wife, you must have strong home ties that will force your return back to your home country, Cos the Visa officer will obviously know that you both wont return.. Remember its a temporary permit you are applying for and not an Express entry application, so you must really have convincing reasons for the Visa officer to show that you both will return back to your home country...

If you know you wont be able to convince the Visa officer of your return(yourself and your wife) to your home country, then I will advise you apply alone and use your wife as your home tie..

Peace

Wow thank you for this. I really hope to get a supervisor soon and get full funding. I hope that my tears of leaving this country will be dried soon.
Toceen2022:

For your 300 and 400 level CGPA, just add it up and divide by 2, then convert it to percentage. So your cgpa for the last 2 years will be 86.8%. Seriously you have a great chance of receiving full funding.

I've not received any funding yet, but by April the school will send it out to applicants. I don't know how much it'll be for now.

Hmmmm i beg to differ i used my gtb visa card a few times and it was 3cad charge per withdrawal in fact if u use another bank canadian card on another banks atm it is 3$ charge i had to travel back to nigeria to withdraw my almost 6k dollars from gtb last year becos of these charges. Go to the atm and try it am speaking from experience bro in canada on a student account u cant withdraw cash from an atm more than 500 dollars except u do online transactions and that is a maximum of 1k even using a canadian bank atm except you call the bank to increase you money for that day due to a purchase you want to make

Well you might be right about GTBANK coz I don’t know much about them. But for FirstBank ooo. $VisaGold card is $1k a day limit for ATM and 3$ withdrawal charges, POS & WEB are free and the limit is $6k, while First $VisaDebit card is also $1k with 1.5$ withdrawal charges (POS & WEB) are also free too.

What am trying to buttress out is, if you deposit $10k to any of those account, the charges you needed to withdraw everything outside the country is just 30$ & 15$ respectively which still make sense to me rather than carry cash. Like I said earlier not everybody get that nerve to change and carry that kind of money for traveling.

first of all thank you for this, when you travelled with that huge amount, did you still show them your bank statement at the border? Or just showed them the cash? I was also thinking of holding some dollars and I don’t know if I show have the rest in naria in my account, since I have to still buy the dollar for my dollar account in black market which will be crazy expensive

If you parents decide to send you 3.5M to your account, that's fine. Instead use half of that 3.5M to apply for PTA and leave the rest in your account.

You can show the $4000 gotten from PTA to the Immigration Officer. And the remaining in your account, and a screenshot of your parents account statement..

This should do. Good luck. Thank you very much, and I could show the money in my naria account or it doesn’t matter?

Congrats BeejayB and thanks for sharing.
1. Please what is the enrollment letter?
2. What currency did you have the balance of your tuition you showed on your app?
3. Did you have to also show this at the Point Of entry?... I'm assuming POE means the airport in Canada. Is that right?

BeejayB:

I got to the airport around 5.30 on March 9. They allowed my mum, aunt and uncle to enter with me after much persuasion..
As soon as we entered, the agriculture guys decided to check my bag and I payed 2k for declaration and a certificate I was given…

NSCC don't give refund for anything. Even if an applicant defers his admission, tuition deposit is still not transferable to the new intake. Applicant needs to pay another tuition deposit for deferment.

Hello House, please

For someone going for a 4year University Bsc program and fees is 18,100 Cad, a year. How much should be shown on POF? I know the rule says 1yr tuition & living expense, but the new portal asks for total duration fees.

So what should be Nigerian bank balance on POF. 4yrs tuition or the IRCC rule of 1yr?

Note, 1st semester fees already paid even though the school does not ask for deposit.

You can use Form A to pay. Some banks are faster due to lower customer demands.

There is a post on how to use Flywire info on Form A on this thread. Read the last 10 pages or so. Or use the search bar.

Flywire to Naira rate is black market rate. About N465-485 or so

Please I have a question, I will really appreciate a response.

I want to get my police character certificate for my study visa and I will be traveling to lagos to get it, please what's the procedure and cost. And is it something I can complete in a day so that I will just return back the same day? Thanks.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by technix: 1:06pm On Mar 12, 2022
No timeline is specified. But the rule says one must be ACTIVELY studying.

This means that one should be enrolled, and one should be able to demonstrate that one is making reasonable progress toward the completion of one's courses in the time allotted by the program.

Changing after a semester is fine. But changing after one or two weeks (I haven't seen anyone) may require a convincing explanation, especially with respect to demonstrating progress.

**Anyone who has seen a change of DLI after a few weeks can mention.

Ruby22:

Could you kindly explain how soon one can change schools inside Canada after enrollment. Does it have a timeline? Does the student have to be studying for a week, 2 weeks or fir how long. I will appreciate help with this from the gurus.

Enrollment letter is the letter you get from the school usually after you register for courses at the school.

The balance was in my naira account. The guy calculated it to CAD using a calculator.

Yeah POE is the airport in canada. And yes I opened my bank app and showed them the balance.
