A job is a job as long it is legal and honest, it should be considered a worthy job. Most of these manual jobs e,g carpentry are big outside Nigeria. My point is that Nigeria need to start appreciate such workers and pay them more if they can.

It's unfortunate that we do that in this part of the world, because most of this artisan are illiterate or doesn't have tertiary education.
I guess things are fast changing, educated individuals are fast jumping into this sphere because there are lots of cash rolling in their.

They actually look down a lot on menial jobs not knowing those people cash out far more than they that are working salaried jobs.

One time, a company contacted me to shoot a video commercial for them and at first, they were pricing me like garri, then I ignored them but they kept on pressing and then I told them I have price packages for my jobs and sent them a quote alongside my portfolio site carrying my name as the website URL and they realized they were not dealing with your everyday point and shoot guy.

Then on the day of shooting, they were shocked when I and my crew pulled up in a Venza, they were expecting someone sweating with equipments up and down. Summary, till date, we still work together but their perception of me and my work has since changed and we deal on a professional level now, you want me to work for you? No problem, I send you a quote, you either pay or not, no dragging up and down.

My 1 day job is way above the monthly salary of your average Nigerian office worker. It's all about packaging and knowing your onion fam.

Nigeria will teach you shege.

You will graduate with certificate but you will be encouraged to ride okada. Sell puff-puff. Do ashawo, do drugs and yahoo. They will normalise it for you na, hehe, and some of you will stupidly believe it.

They will tell you "a lazy man is the devil's workshop", "great things start from humble beginnings"... and similar stupid things you hear from time to time. It's called social conditioning. After some time you self, will begin to reason "maybe its true sha. everyone in the world hustles".

They wouldnt tell you about industrialisation. They wouldnt tell you about government-loans, programs and enablements to keep a large section of the population gainfully employed.

Menial job my foot. Suffering just dey begin wella. When the suffering don enter top gear, the next time you hear Oduduwa or Biafra, nobody go beg you. For now, keep shouting PVC.

I'm telling you, the way some people treat people doing such jobs in Nigeria is so bad, I hate seeing such, that person is a human being just like you and is doing something legitimate, he/she should be given their respect accordingly...

You can tell the quality of a person by how they treat people doing menial jobs. Lots of jobs classified as menial jobs pays higher than white collar jobs. Bus drivers easily make 500k monthly, and many have their own houses and train their kids in the uni.

Those west don't consider them as menial jobs rather skilled jobs. This is why a cleaner can get a nice car and a good upkeep.

The irony of things is that without people doing menial jobs, human civilisations will cease to exist. If there are no tailors to sew your clothes, cleaners to clean the streets, farmers to work in farms, how can you survive?
