Move to Surulere. Surulere is very central and easily accessible. Down to the island from Surulere is less than an hour long journey.

Surulere to orile to festac and to Badagry is very accessible. Surulere to Oshodi too is within reach. Surulere is your best bet.

Vi to lekki phase 1 is fine. Anything beyond that are developments without a proper road network.

How can you call Ajah Island... It's like calling bread and Akara sandwich or burger!

OP the truth be say everywhere for Lagos dey expensive some are just more expensive than the others.

In summary, the cost of living in Lagos is high even Abuja and P. H. dey learn work

if your reason is cost of properties or commodities, you'd be very surprised at how little the differences are.

What do you expect from a small Land with a population of 900 % more than it's actually population capacity

I live on the mainland ojodu berger near road safety and I have my peace of mind. Steady power supply (#10,000 prepaid takes me a month plus), clean water, good security.
Bro, island is for those who have concrete reasons for staying on the island....such as the island "connection".....those in showbiz industry and real estate business.

Yaba, Surelere, Ogba, Ikeja, Festac, Ago Palace, Egbeda, Abule Egba, Maryland, Anthony, Some part of Obanikoro and Palm Groove, Wilmer Street (Ajegunle), extreme cases like Iba (the army housing eatat is nice), Epe is bae if you like a quiet ambient kind of environment and finally ikorodu towards the local government side, ebute and itamaga side.

Magodo and berger is also head quarter of hold up. The best thing u can do is find an apartment to a place very close to ur working place or ur business place. No place is safe in terms of hold up in lag. As for bad area issue, I can't pray for my enemies to leave in ajah to eleko. Very bad area. They enjoying nothing in those places. Even lekki, is over hyped. The only place u can enjoy in island is, ikoyi, vi and Lagos island. As for mainland, Surulere is the best, but not all surulere. U can leave around baba animashaun, bode Thomas, adeniran ogunsanya, akerele, aguda, apapa road, oyingbo. Don't even dream of renting house to around that kilo, or ijesha, lawanson area, because u will blame urself.

Surulere for easy access to the Island and the MAINland
Ikeja if you don't mind Lagos traffic but 100% social life (Allen Avenue - you gerrit)

Ikorodu if you are a miser ("You think say you dey wise")
Mushin if you belong to the street and love the trenches (Who goes you)
Agege if you don't mind getting robbed or stabbed occasionally (Kuron beyen no)
Ojo if you are Igbo
