Good morning everyone! Please i need a little assistance from experienced individuals regarding how salary is calculated when one did not resume work on the 1st of a month.

I resumed work as a new staff on the 10th of march. Please how much would be deducted from my salary ? How is it calculated? I would appreciate a clear explanation, thank you.
HR no dey pay for Saturday and sunday
You workdays in a month is usually 20 or 22 depending on the month.... so, guy if you resume on the tenth, chances are 8 days don fly from 20/22 days....

Nigga, if your salary is less than 100k, what you see will make you to feel heat when you receive alert..

A considerate organisation should pay you Your whole salary not minding when you were offered employment.

Days you will have to work overtime, are they going for pay you for that? I doubt it
It actually depends on the company's policy but any company that does that is 70% toxic and doesn't care about their staff wellbeing.
So they will pay you for days you did not work?
How fair is that on those that started work on the 1st day of the month?
Businesses are not charity, one should expect to be paid for days you worked and not expect anymore if not you are the greedy one.

Theory just full this place cheesy
In a normal settings, a company on a good standing, if you start work after payroll has been prepared, OYO is your own.
If you start work before payroll is prepared then you are going to be included in the payroll and you will get a full month salary!

Hmm... (Experts, feel free to correct me)

There are 23 working days in March, and you're working on only 16 of them.

Open your calculator and divide 16 by 23. Then, multiply the answer by your full monthly salary.

The new answer is what you should be paid this month.

Example:

If your monthly salary is #75,000, then calculate 16/23 * 75,000.

Your answer (and what they should pay you) will be #52,174.
I think some company apply 22 working days.

Are you going to pay for the days he overworked if you had a business, won't you just smile and thank yourself for having a well to do staff.

I am sure you are one of those entitled employees who know nothing about how to run a business. The day the company won't make enough to pay salaries, where do you expect salaries to come from?

I always tell people that if they think they are underpaid they should go and start their own business. You people think doing business in this shithole is easy.

A company is no charity organization and expecting them to do this means you are not been fair to them.
Just tell us your company is not upto standard and doesn't have a good wage structure.

This is correct. Some organizations do not use working days only though. In such instance, your salary will be 21/31 *75000 which is N50,806. This is usually applicable when they use a Payroll software. Computers no get sentiment.

Stop trying to promote corruption. The fortune companies of this world will not pay you for days you did not work and your insistence on overtime, no one ask you to work overtime. Shut down your computer at the close of business and go home.

You know little about organisations. You don't discuss overtime in such manner

Is that how it is done where you work? They pay you full salary if you started at the middle of the month because of eg overtime?
If it works that way, then more Greese e to their elbow.
I am yet to see a business home and abroad that works that way except in charitable cases.

His entitlement mentality is ridiculous. He sounds like those who think more of their office as a workchop and not workshop. He's going about the thread insisting on promoting corruption.

What do you know about organizations? You apparently know nothing and trying to act like you do. Please tell me two companies that has the policy you are trying to promote in place and I will show you how corrupt they must be.

That said, if your overtime is justified which must be discussed and approved, you surely get paid for it.

A lot of folks on this forum are students and have an assumption of how things should work.
Reality will dawn in real life.

Normally I don’t comment on issues like this on a platform like Nairaland.

However, for record purpose I will like to address this issue this for once.

A lot of people rush to Nairaland to complain about their bosses, salary or company without them telling us of the value that they are adding to their organizations .

Many of the people that cries foul here has no business value to their employer hence they are frustrated.

Thank you.

When you start your own company, you can pay them 100% of their salary even if they work for 5 days in a month...

Most of you that accuse companies of being toxic are usually the most inefficient workers, even when you know the company owner is working his butt off to pay salaries...

Five days a month is another conversation entirely
It wasn't his fault that he was employed inbtw the mnth, why would they because of that deduct 8days salary. Did he intentionally not come to work?

And their boss decided to keep them on the payroll out of the goodness of his heart, right?

If they are that valueless, sack them outright. Unless you define value as doing more than what you are required to.

All workers don't have to get paid on the same day. When your one month cycle ends, you can get your full salary, I see no big deal in the whole thing. Unless it's a large company where salary payment is made once a month or harmonized.

Your comment on companies being toxic was my major concern. We all know how people can be when they know there is no consequence for their action. That's the main reason why public institutions are so inefficient. They are no consequences for their actions so they abuse it. That's why Nigeria is where it is today!

Very simple, divide your salary by 31 days , remove 4 days first (Sundays) then divide the remaining by 10 and subtract 10 days that you missed

Are u referring to excess hours? Cos you can only have overtime on public holidays. There's no way you can have excess hours in a month you started on d 10th of it. So, normally u'll be paid only ur basic

I’m sorry, but why is a graduate not able to do a simple pro rata estimate?

A diligent JSS1-3 student should be able to knock this out without much stress.
Re: How Much Is My Salary? Help!! by GodisFirst: 2:18pm On Mar 18, 2022
As a new employee, a good company may pay you full month salary or even give you some take off grant of extra one month Salary to enable you quickly adjust yourself properly and cushion the effects of change of work place, while some may choose to prorate it as @N2B2 explained above in his calculation.
So just don't worry about that, focus on the job and make your impact, you may get raise.
