Good day Prof, I bought a 3.5kva Lutian 58 days ago but it has started giving me problems.

First, it started with hard starting. I called a repairer who said its the carburettor, I changed it and it started working.

Later same day, I tried starting it, it wouldn't start. In fact the key starter doesn't work anymore. My guess, the guy that fixed it only succeeded in damaging it more.

I have called the shop where I bought it, and they said they don't give guarantee on generators.

Please, Prof what can be wrong with a Gen less than two months old that will lead to hard starting.

Is this how lutian products fail other people. My neighbour runs his Gen every night when there is no light and it works seamlessly.

Please help.

Try change oil to another brand, if it's same issue. Contact a very good engineer to check it for you

I changed the oli from climax to Zico oil and ever since then, it been working perfectly fine and no more shortage again. Thanks for your suggestion, the gen is working perfectly fine now.

Try and locate their service center around you, they should have. I don't have an Idea of the price but you should be ready to part with over 50k.

Did you overfill? Check the air filter and squeeze out excess oil if any.

Please house which generator should I go for? Elepaq constant 4.5kv keystart or Kemage 4.5kv key start with remote. Both are same price and I’m used to Elepaq constant but thinking of trying a new product

Note: The generator won’t be working long hours because I get at least 16 hours light per day. The generator is just for back up incase I have visitors or emergency

I will always go for brand new unless money is an issue.

Both gensets are great. However, I personally prefer Elepaq constant. This is because its parts are readily available and a lot of technicians are familiar with its design. Kemage will need some time to get same popularity as Elepaq in the market.

Depends on the KVA and if its electric start or not, should expect to spend from 160k for the SPG 3000 series. I am not current with price.

For me I will go for Kemage 4.5kv which is better bargain if you are sure of the originality. For the SPare parts question, almost all the brands in the market uses sumec parts as alternative

Which type of gen? Reduce the power output, Does it surge? If it does service the carb. Good luck.

Is climax oil bad cos that's what I am using

I experienced shortage of oil before 2weeks of service and it’s always very dark, but since I migrated to Zico oil everything is normal now.

Your budget should be over 200k. Get either Sumec or Tec with at least 3000 starting watts.
