Shagari was not solider ,the british used hausa soliders to fight other ethnic nationslitord in history because the british always identify the martial tribe and the people that gave them.problems to conquer.The southereners were recruited into the army for admi istrative purposes,and not combat.Tbe people called the pag an tribe from the north were later recruited so as to have a balanced army.
They later created elite schools like that of Eton in england ,called Barewa college ,so has to groom and train the leaders of Nigeria,the school produced 4 heads of state.

Awolowo did all that for a purpose while he was a finance minister.Ojukuwu looted the central bamk in benin,so he changed the currency,what was bad in changing the currency to control the money in circulation and protect your countries currency during a war?
Awolowo went on inspection of the parts of eastern Nigeria during negotiation and saw people with kwashikor while the soliders and elites were very fat.What do you expect ,food that was meant for the people were diverted and captured by biafran soliders what do you expect him to do in a war.They stopped supplies.

I think its morally okay,to support the region that supports you.After the civil war the west was the first to welcome easterners,accepted them rented there house to them gave them there property back.You use the hospitals,schools markets and because millionares.so is it not normal,that you will support such people politically,which will advance their region,and inturn further improve the life of the igbos that land every hour in places like lagos and ibadan. ,

i will search but I make no promises, I believe awolowo had our local textile industry in mind when he made that campaign promise but it was against the vested interests of Igbo traders heavily invested in it and their dependents so the opposition ran with it and blew it out of proportion as is expected

be that as it may, awolowo wasn't the primary or even one of the biggest villains of their civil war woes, general shagari, relative to shehu i think by virtue of being a Fulani wartime enemy qualified as a bigger villain if we Want to use emotion over logic, I'm not saying elements of that sentiment wasn't there but logic will say business interests of the day was the determinant factor

British colonisation started from the coast then through river routes via the oil rivers courtesy of the royal Niger company, soldiers were exclusively from southern and middlebelt stock as the sokoto caliphate was at war with the royal Niger company, lord lugard himself went on this campaign and was in command when the walls of kano and rano were breached! Hausas were hardly part of that army oga, and when they became part of the army they were admitted in trickles, the colonial army was southern and middlebeltan and the officer corps largely southern, don't mistake the current Nigerian army with the British colonial army of Nigeria we had at independence, that army was professional, our current army is mediocre by comparison. I know shagari wasn't a soldier but one of his close relatives made it to general in the army, I think he was a couple of years ahead of buhari, he is late now, I have no arguments about barewa college but power staying in the north and the underdevelopment of Nigeria served British interests so they created barewa college so that the largely uneducated north would start producing people to go into the Nigerian civil service dominated by educated southerners and water down the effect of southern pan-africanists inimical to British post colonial interests,

the mistake you make is in seeing the southeastern vote against awolowo as a vote against the southwest when it simply is a policy repudiation vote

we are discussing in terms of our(Nigerian) military history and its ethnic composition and as such it must start with colonisation/conquest and before that our history with those who did the colonisation/conquest and as such we are talking about the British/Nigerian history which started with slave trade at the coasts to the royal Niger company after abolition and then the protectorates at the coasts to the missionaries and finally colonial conquests prior to the turn of the 19th century

South south people donot have any problems with yorubas infact from the 1st republic ,we always align ,2nd and 3rd republic it was the same thing.They collect money higher than all other states ,they have 13% derivation,so what problem will they have with tinubu.

Understand that many people from across Nigeria live in Lagos and see what is in effect a monopoly of economy and politics by one man despite appearances and protestations in Lagos and think yorubas too weak to permit that and would never tolerate it to happen to them and secondly, Tinubu brought buhari, despite the bloodshed across Nigeria by buhari's fulanis Tinubu won't condemn him openly because of his ambitions, we see that too.

your logic doesn't apply to this discourse, when census is conducted, will Lagos state approve of me travelling back to delta state to get counted? Doesn't Lagos state frown on northerners who travel back to their state of origin during election period to vote as this skews voter statistics against them? Doesn't Lagos state frown on northerners who travel back to their state of origin during election period to vote as this skews voter statistics against them? Lol!Dangote is on of the biggest investor in Lagos ,he is from kano and a resident of lagos and citizen of Nigeria.Vaswani brothers ,chargouri,s ,Thankashi changal, chellerams ,are all residents of lagos ,citizens of Nigeria ,india and lebanon.They have a stake in the business environment and infastruture through the manufacturer association of Nigeria.we are talking politically now,the governance of the state are not connected with the business of the state .Nigerdelta people are very okay with yorubas ,they normally dont have any problems at all in lagos.The only time we heard of the nigerdelta people was when they wanted to demolish ajegunle.
