Udele1, nobody will see you here. Clown. If this was a Fulani man shipping something from Onitsha to North, can it be seized like this knowing fully well it will perish? How can customs arrest someone for patronising local content? And demand fro bribe? Mpama. |

DoctorOlasDesk: What are you saying Mr man? Go with a lawyer? Do these people respect your law? Do they respect your lawyer? Do they obey the law? Or haven't u watch how they maltreated and arrest a lawyer that went with his client to make recovery of his goods seized by the custom officers? Are u even in Nigeria? Please if you don't know what to say just shut ur mouth please. In Nigeria whether u are right or not those men in uniform don't care. They are heartless human beings. 1 Like |

wirinet:I doubt what you are saying, how could National Environmental Safety Enforcement Regulatory Agency be called by the Nigerian Customs to inspect if the goods are prohibited, after which they certified that those donkeys are not prohibited, and are fit for consumption. I guest you skipped the document attached or you are trying to justify that Ugly act. If one religion forbids it, which I know thats what you referred to as FG, then what about the other religion that didn't forbid it? Ok, what's the difference between Donkey and Cows, are they not all livestock? So if a vegetarian comes into power, he will start banning all killing of animals because it violates his belief. SMH |

Re: Help! Goods Worth N200,000,000 Detained By NIGERIAN CUSTOMS by wirinet(m): 9:28pm On Mar 23, 2022 |
janedonez: You guys are just getting overly emotional. The FG along with most countries of the world are banning or discouraging the killing and trading of donkeys. I know the law on the ban Killing and trading of donkeys had passed through first and second reading, but I am not sure it had been made law yet.
Donkeys that used to be a common feature in nigeria and West Africa is becoming an endangered species. That's how we killed of elephants from West Africa due to Ivory trade. Even though I sympathize with the guy whose goods were seized by customs. I am somehow appalled that a whole truckload of donkeys (a very non aggressive animal that had helped man to carry load for centuries)were being slaughtered in such numbers for profit. The guy did not do his due diligence before embarking on the business on such a scale. Forget the papers he obtained. In Nigeria you could get any paper you want for the right amount. The ministry guys are only after bribe. People had been arrested for trading just a couple of donkeys, and this guy was caught with a truckload. I am sure he was not aware that trading in donkeys in Nigeria is controversial, else he would not have done strong head and would have negotiated with the custom officers (bribe). I really doubt the guy can win this. The government officials that gave him the papers would deny the papers were genuine when they get to court, as the whole thing looks bad. If NYSC could deny Kemi Adeosun's discharge certificate, what is a few ministry papers. |
Re: Help! Goods Worth N200,000,000 Detained By NIGERIAN CUSTOMS by wirinet(m): 9:45pm On Mar 23, 2022 |
janedonez: They are not listed as endangered yet, but their numbers are getting critically low and most countries have banned trading in donkeys. See this aljazeera report. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOCIgG-MRT0 |
