Well, Eguavoen felt that at the AFCON we had the missing links in Osimhen, Dennis and Ighalo. And on their return his philosophy will yield fruits regardless of the strategy of the opponent. I hope he has now seen the light. Cc 13large benji93: |

Great, unfortunately, they are average. So their passing would still suck. Philosophies are nice and indicate you know what you are doing, but they are useless anyway. Your philosophy is only as good as your players. Meliforme: |

Joebie: LOL A veteran Super Eagles follower declared Rohr as our best coach in 20 years I argued that record for record, Rohr is not even better than Keshi, and he decides to call me unintelligent amongst other things. Yet, at no point did he mention how Rohr was better than Keshi. He mentioned that the team was in shambles from 2014-2017 and how we did not qualify for AFCON, but Keshi left the job during the qualifiers in 2014. He even mentioned that Rohr has helped bring up players from the youth team, citing Osimhen, and I countered that Kelechi, Omeruo, Ndidi and co, are also graduates of the youth team. Anyway, dem don insult me for Twitter because of Keshi and Rohr today. 3 Likes |

benji93: Actually, what a good passing philosophy does is to improve the movement of players and improve their decision making with the ball which makes them play better. So it is more than just having the right players for it. 2 Likes |

You this man, Guardiola don full your head. Beautiful. if you want us to institute your philosophy beg Guardiola to borrow us his players. If you can do that i would be fully behind you. I love the passing Philosophy too, i was so much in awe of that 2009-2012 team Barcelona under Guardiola(the first time you succeed at something is usually the most memorable) even though I am not a Barcelona fan. It would be incredible if you can establish it. For instance, Bielsa tries to do it too, but his team keeps leaking goals from one game to another, and Bielsa is even more faithful to that Philosophy than Guardiola. Even if they are 6 goals down, he would not relent. TheGoodJoe: 1 Like |

You guys should stop blaming Simon and Chukwueze. They will do zilch without a supportive midfield. |

Meliforme: Bros loosen up. It was an away game. We didn't even play up to this when we played Sierra Leone and Cape Verde away. Yes, upsets happen in football just like we saw Macedonia beat Italy. But going into that game in Abuja, Nigeria are favorites to win it. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

benji93: That is because Bielsa was up against Masters of the passing philosophy too. Guardiola Klopp Potter Eddie Howe Viera Arteta Tuchel Conte Hassenhutl Gerard And others. The world is moving towards the passing game. It is not about players alone but adopting the ideas. To play the game, it takes teaching the players to abide to the building blocks of it. 1 Like |

There's only so much you can do to improve movement, if the players themselves are not constantly required to make such movements at their clubs where they play regularly, it would be impractical to think it would work when you call them to play for their national teams. And ofcourse you could say, i told you so, our players are not so technical, which i will admit into evidence for this one. . It won't be instinctual, and they would very likely fail in their attempt to do it. In your assumption that it improves movement, you are forgetting the fact that, for places where this has been successful, the players have always been very technical, and they can make such movements with no problems. They could try it, and it may work for a few passes but then they get stuck, without that high technical ability, you crawl back into the hit-and-run shell. TheGoodJoe: |

Is there anything a local coach does that's not amateurish? Can they ever do anything right? Even Keshi was amateurish too, even though he actually won. I am still waiting for a coach that would do better than that man. 8 Likes |

benji93: The Ghanaian team was more versed in the possessive play, especially in the first half and Addo spent days with them. This is not rocket science, or you must have David Silva or Bernardo Silva in your team. You train the team in the basics of the philosophy. Then keep building in the understanding of it. We have seen teams like Swansea and some other small teams in England adopt it. We have teams all over the world adopting it. Even the Ghanaian team played it to an okay level. We should stop the excuses and start developing our ideas in the passing game and make just philosophical adjustments. 1 Like |
