Apapa, Tin-Can Ports Operating Beyond Capacity by Parachoko: 9:04pm On Mar 27, 2022
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Mohammed Bello-Koko, has said the Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports are operating far beyond their capacity.

Bello-Koko, who made the disclosure in a chat with journalists in Lagos, said that excess cargoes at the two ports would be diverted to the Lekki Deep Seaport by September when it commences operation.

He also said some of the businesses, which the country is losing to neighbouring countries, would be retrieved back with the Lekki Deep Seaport.

“Some of the businesses we have lost to other neighbouring West African countries due to drought limitation will be regained. There will be employment creation and increased revenue for government”

“It will create competition and compel other terminal operators to up their games to reduce cargo dwell time at their terminals. Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports have been operating far beyond their capacity; which means that the excess cargoes that have been going there would be diverted to Lekki port,” he explained.

According to the NPA MD, the port is meant to have three container terminals and will be the first automated port in Nigeria that enables speedy clearing of goods.

The NPA MD, who noted that the commencement of Lekki Port would reduce the rate of traffic at Apapa and Tin-Can Island ports, said there would be Ship-to-Shore cranes which would enable faster processing of goods.

Tinubu has sold Yoruba coast to fulani. They took one fulani out and replaced with another fulani MD. Very soon Yoruba will be forbidden from worshipping Olokun and Yemoja.

Hope this will no be extra wahala for Lekki road.
Why plan a port without plan to build a rail and road network to support such.

Nigeria needs to stop this excessive importation culture and strive to become a net exporter, to strengthen our currency and improve our terrible balance of trade.

Lagos is like a welfed kid but due to greed is still collecting more food and stuffing himself to dysfunctional. It has become a fulani cashcow, they take away all the money without minding the living conditions of the inhabitants, with millions continuing to pour in, very soon inside ones room will be the only space left in lagos.

They said they have built railways.
How will the train run where there is no fuel ... Imagine if they had used all the money they borrowed to build 2 massive refineries, another LNG plant in Oguta and a large deep seaport in Akwa Ibom

Tell the Government in those state to be creative like Lagos.

Lagos State facilitated the creation of the Lekki Deep Sea Port. The Port is privately owned for at least 45 years.

Shareholding thus;
China Harbour and Tolaram 75%
Lagos state is 20%
Federal Government is 5%

Therefore, it's not the federal government building the Lekki deep sea port. They only have shares because of the law enabling federal through NPA that territorial sea belong to federal Government. That's the only reason that federal government is involve.

If you must know, Lagos state has many of such Private partnership initiatives she earns percentages from. While Lagos government is being creative, your governors are lazing around waiting for FG to do everything for them.

What stops River states from partnering foreign investors to build rifinery
While they earn certain percentage from the deal. Lagos is not your mate.

Respect Lagos, Respect Tinubu the visionary leader.
