There are actually some shows on TV where " Troubled/bad kids" are sent to Jail for a while. The Idea is to scare them sh$t into good behaviour before they commit a crime that would send them there permanently.
It really takes a community to raise a child. Abroad the options are somewhat limited. So you have the home-school-church*-camp in Nigeria you have home,school,church,aunties,uncles,neighbours etc.
I always like to use the word "suggest" so as not to come appear judgmental . It is not easy raising teenagers - in the realm of social media and peer pressure. You do your very best and pray that It is enough.

You can't love my kids more than I do and seldomly beating them when they err doesn't turn them to slaves. I will employ every available method to teach them the way of the Lord so I can have peace in my old age and they can become useful to the society. Raising kids is not one size fits all!

It will be very easy for a 15 year boy to rape and beat up a 6 year old child because he has been beaten to the point of trauma he feels its not a big deal, his mother's has beaten the house help to stupor, and his father has beaten his mother to stupor so violence is a part of life.

I think U misunderstood the narrative. The police didn't leave cos they agreed with the mom. They left cos they didn't see what they could have done asper say na civil matter no be police matter. The little girl in question wasn't under any immediate danger more than freezing.

No vex me abeg o-o.... I never born self neither Married so I might never understand the practicals. But theoretically this will work because I have helped nurtured 5 of My Families Teenagers through University and the Only way I was able to take them all off the street was making them my friend.

Things have changed. Live for my koro koro eyes. Not a rich family. The mother beat the daughter JSS3 girl public school going girl. The mom came to our house to even report what she did and went home. Not too long after, the older sister came running that the police had invited the mum to the station for the beating. Na so it turn to police case. Thank God elders went on behalf of the mother and the policeman on duty let the mom go. That was the last time the girl was allowed into our house. How could she report her mom. Who is struggling to pay rent, clothes, feed and send the girls to school. E shock me. No be beating with scars or blood commot. Normal beating. Things don change for Naija
