I created this thread for me and MaxInDHouse to thrash a very important argument. Anybody who cares to join can do so, but we must stay on topic. Only intelligent distraction will be entertained.

When did Satan get rulership of earth. ?
Who is Satan by the way. ?
Who is the devil ?
What is the extent of his power..
This questions forms the bulk of the Christian religion.
But who are they?
In my opinion, Satan simply means "adversary" anybody or anyone can be an adversary to any one. There are different instances it was used in the Jewish scriptures. I think to understand a wordi in the Bible, we have to go to when it was first used. Satan was first used in the story or Balam and Barak. Here it denotes an obstacle. The next time it will be used again is in the story of job. Here we learn that he was part of the sons of God, and was under the control and power of God and does only what God tells him to do. This Satan has no will outside of the will of God.
The scriptures clearly state that the earth belongs to God and the fullness thereof. That is why I wanted to know when Satan God the rulership of earth and when did he become a dual opposite of God?

Devil on the other hand is a creation of the catholic church and the most important in their religion.

Satan WAS indeed the God or ruler of this world. In Genesis after God created the earth he gave Adam authority to rule over the earth and to subdue it.


Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Adam committed high treason when he will fully obeyed the Devil, God's enemy, and disobeyed God and by so doing transferred the authority to Satan.


1 Timothy 2:14 And Adam was not deceived , but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

The fact that Devil was the one now in charge of running thimgs was made obvious during the temptation of Jesus. He told Jesus that everything in the world had been delivered to him.


Luke 4:6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

However, after Jesus died, he descended into hell and suffered for mankind for three days.

Ephesians 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Jesus himself said Just has Jonah was In the belly of the wale for three days, so will he too be In the belly of the earth for three days.

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

After suffering for the sins of man for three days Jesus attempted to rise up from the dead, but the hordes of hell attempted to stop him. This result into combact will lead to the defeat and paralyzing of Satan and the recovery of the authority that Adam gave to Satan.

Colossians 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

[15][God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].

Some translation render it as " threw of from himself principalities and power.

So right now Satan has absutely no power. He has been disamed. He has been paralyzed, he has been stripped of all power.

The word translated disarm there is the word "apekdoumai" which means " to strip".

In the process Satan lost his authority unlike Adam, Jesus obeyed God to the letter.

Matthew 28:18
[18]Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

Revelation 1:18
[18]And the Ever-living One [I am living in the eternity of the eternities]. I died, but see, I am alive forevermore; and I possess the keys of death and Hades (the realm of the dead).


So, right now the devil has neither power nor authority. Note that there is a difference between power( Greek dunamis) and authority (Greek exsousia). While authority is conferred, power is the dynamic ability to cause changes.

Right now all that Satan has is the ability to decieve.


Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

So, who is now ruling the world? Well, born again Christians are now the de facto ruler of the world.When Jesus Rose from the dead he transferred the authority unto them.

Matthew 28:18-19
[18]Jesus approached and, breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.
[19]Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Not only that he gave them power through the oncoming of the holy Spirit.


Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.


Sadly, most Christians are ignorant of these fact. They are not ruling, they are not exercising their authority. They are not using their power. They allow the devil to run amok indirectly rulling the world through lies, deceit, bullying and subterfuge which enable him to control people's mind. With him controlling the minds of most people. He very much has things under control since Christians have failed to rule, exercise their authority and use their power.
