Why Are Nigerian Parents Afraid Of Sex Education?? by Vinnie2000(op): 5:05pm On Apr 18, 2022
Last year, i attended a Church programme with the topic on Parenting. The preacher gave pple room for contributions.

I stood up and opined dat parents should sit dier childrens to Tell dem about Sex Education.
That even in primary school Basic 4 and 5 curriculum, Re production is already taught as a Topic.

But I noticed dat many of the parents 'squeezed dier faces' and were visibly annoyed/distressed!
I later heard some were saying 'My pikin neva spoil' or 'I nor want make my pikin spoil'. embarassed huh

Which begs the Question "Why are Adults afraid of sex education? Why do we feel Kids or young Teens are innocent? huh

All we do is wait for a Sexual abuse/Defilement news on the Internet and start cursing/crucifying the perpetuator, thereby leaving the Elephant in the room. sad

In this Chrisland School scandal, Many rushed to Crucify 'a Rapist/paedophile' as Usual but were dissappointed and their mouths Shut!

Why dont we tackle the problem from the Root? WHY ARE PARENTS AFRAID OF SEX EDUCATION? undecided

No. 1 : We Africans are religious
No. 2 : You cannot be talking how to f*ck instead of Bible stories or Homework with the kids
No. 3 : Thirdly, you wi'not like the questions that will follow.
No. 4 : You may just have given permission to research and utilise such knowledge
No. 5 : You will not look so Christianly and moral again. So Daddy and mommy always do bad tins in dia room?
No. 6 : Your child may tell teachers and peers, "my Daddy said...".
No. 7 : You become friend instead of parent and some don't want that.
No. 8 : Such information has consequences. Your child would have lost some innocence of childhood early on. The earlier the spoiling, the faster the spreading.
No. 9 : Some want the child to discover some things about life by themselves. Dia parents did not do it, why should they?
No. 10 : The Biology teacher and school counselor should do it.

Thank you!

Hmmm Even though I think it is good to educate our kids on sex education, our children of these days are something else. The moment you warn them to desist from a particular thing, that's when they will want to explore that particular thing to know why the warning.

Wetin wey work for UK fit no work here.

Anybody wey wan do am is free to. grin

Very nice Take from you!

But Parents shying away from this great Responsibility has TERRIBLE CONSEQUENCES!

Children now learn about Sex from Friends, school mates, etc. Some will go on to start practising the Act and become Professionals like the Chrisland Girl whom i hear rides better dan Mia Khalifa. lipsrsealed

All could have been Averted if Parents were Bold enough to do dier Job! sad

They are afraid because they know that their child their little child knows more than them.
But if you are a wise parents you will educate your child and show him or her the right way.. and that will help the child in a long run..
