Penguin2:The man made some brilliant and notable points that can help in reversing the imminent collapse of this unsustainable entity called Nigeria. You, on the other hand, wrapped in your characteristic bigotry and defective intelligence, have not provided any meaningful, empirical rebuttal. All you did was bark out insults like a rabid dog on heat. I pray your miserable life gets salvaged before it's too late Meanwhile, Chief Afe Babalola only needed to add structural changes to the organic changes he proposed. Of course, this current brand of federalism cannot aid any tangible changes at the federal level. Baba, àgbà yín a dálé, Àṣẹ! |

TBH this is absurd! Chief Afe Babalola was very close to Obasanjo and the PDP during his presidency. Why didn’t he steer OBJ and the PDP in that very-life-changing-direction for amending Nigeria’s constitution when it was within their reach to do so? Or is it now that he doesn’t have direct influence on the presidency that such laudable and far reaching ideas are helpful? ![]() Politicians and political hangers-on are mostly hypocrites imho. fergie001: |

Greylaw: "Please tell me the democratic leadership that doesn't run a parliament? Just name one." Greylaw: "Please tell me the democratic leadership that doesn't run a parliament? Just name one." Here you go again! I said in my piece that it is not the system of government that failing Nigerian people. It the people who run the system. These people include but not limited to legislative branch of the Nigerian government. Now, since Nigeria began practicing democracy in 1999, not ounce have i heard the legislative branch of the Nigerian government checked against abuses of power going in Buhari administration. The 1999 constitution of Nigeria provides for checked and balances and separation of powers by each branch of government against the other. Have these special functions been carried out by the Nigerian lawmakers? The short answer is no. So, my question to you is why do you want to keep these kind of lawmakers on the payroll? |

Supported. Nigeria needs a new constitution that would restructure the country. Only an interim government would make it possible. |

This people always claim they are learned but always hide the truth. This very 1999 constitution they call military constitution was just a mirror of 1979 constitution that was drawn by purely democratic shagari regime with just very few, I mean very few addition and deletion of any at all. That of 1979 was even a revised version of the old one drawn by the civilians before Aguiyi Ironsi regime. So just because it was passed by committee drawn by Abdulsalam regime which majority of them are not also military, then it has become something else. The Constitution as it is presently is not our problem, the problem is we the people. Those waiting to have opportunity to enter and steal are more than those stealing already. Those waiting to sabotage the system if they are not the one ruling are also planning with alternative A, B and C. How does constitutional change become the solution to the above. Those killing in the north are Hausa Fulanis, those killing in the east are Igbos, those mining skulls and cultism in the west are Yorubas. Those undermining and sabotaging NNDC are Niger Deltans , now how does babalola intends to deal with all these if he is asked to head that interim government he is proposing. If the masses are ready we can amend our constitution to suit our present conditions without going backwards. Maybe the man wants one young military guy to take over with the chaos that will engross that unconstitutional interim fiasco government. |

I support all wat baba said.. But that age limit idea should be jettisoned.. No need for age bracket.. A man of 100 can even contest so far he's able and agile.. I support other points he raised 100%. |

seunmsg:Yeye.. Are u now saying you're more learned and rooted in law related issue than Afe Babalola. He's been practicing law far before you were born. So he sure knows wat he's saying. Who made d law.? Is it not man. So d law made can be modified and changed. Your point holds no water. |

9japarts:Unfortunately for his old age, he suggested involving people he accused responsible for destroying the Nation in the interim govt. Past leaders destroyed the Nation Judiciary took away the right and privileges of common man and sell it at the highest bid. The constitution is a product of people he wants to form the interim govt with. Nigeria can only be better with pol from another Nation but not with new laws.... |

It seems he is too old to think well, he had made some bad suggestion in the past. "Babalola said that members of the interim government should be drawn from all living former presidents and vice-presidents; some selected ministers and governors and delegates of prominent professional associations." I laugh. ![]() Those he mentioned are thieves that destroyed the country. They betrayed nigeria. |

WhizdomXX:We always have laws but are they functioning in the right manner? How many excellent laws are there in ur state that u aren't even aware of? With good people, laws and enforcement aren't even needed all the time. Take time and watch some amazing life of people in Somali land. No thieves in the entire country, no record for crimes; that place is heaven on earth with not as half of the laws we have. People have to change to good before laws start working.... |
