Let her reapply for a new passport now.Mine expires in November and I was asked to reapply now,it would cost more but it’s better that way.

Good evening all
I want to do my international passport but I have a few questions
1. Can I use my husband's surname? Asking because my maiden name is on NIN

2. If I use my maiden name won't it affect bringing my husband as dependant, since am already married before applying for the passport

Do not forget to write them once you secure your entry to Uk,if not for all things to taunt them and show them they need to change their discriminatory language test

Good day, I've been following your posts here and I appreciate the way you dish out assistance where necessary.

Please, do you have idea about availability of student jobs in Scotland and Wales. I have admission offers from schools in both region and I'll love to know which one has more part time job opportunities before accepting.

Thanks

Boss, quite some time. You haven't changed a bit.

Thanks for the contribution. Never disappointing!

Babababy:
We all would eventually walk the part that we have chosen, there is absolutely no bed of roses anywhere in the world and you have to make the most of whatever circumstance you find yourself in.
I have 3 kids, I was paying an average of N1.1M per term for school in Nigeria, for all three kids, and this to some is a lot while to others its small fires, to each his/her own. When I inspected schools in the Uk, and compared public schools in the UK to the private school I was paying for, the difference in facilities and tutoring was quite glaring. In the business term, thats a saving of N1.1M for me. Would I be bothered if I get taxed extra because my kids now go to a better school? Hell NO. All three are in public schools in the UK now, something I cant try here in Nigeria.

My last, never loved school, all of a sudden he is always eager to go to school now, my daughter is excelling in maths, a subject her teacher always complained about in Nigeria. My son started football lessons, and he absolutely loves it, swimming is also done in-between.

Obviously, the UK is not a bed of glittering roses, you would have to trade money for quality living, work your ass off to make ends met, but the beneficiary of all the hustle would be your children.

A lot of money is involved in getting settled in the UK, for some its their entire life savings, and for some its just a tiny bit of savings, while some would end up borrowing for the same venture.
They usually say, the end should justify the means, but you need to work smart and work hard. You would be amazed by how much you would save with the right information. Hear say wont get you far, regardless of the situation, people would always have differences in their thought process.

The quality of life in Nigeria has been degraded by a lot, even in wealth, your average life expectancy in Nigeria is not guaranteed at 50. Some few weeks ago, millionaires and billionaires were groaning because of the non availability of diesel, it affected everyone. Billioniares literally have to drive in long convoy's and bullet proof cars to avoid stories that touch, their close family have to do same . The list is endless, the UK is an opportunity to try another way of life and compromise on a few things here in Nigeria.

The reality is that, not everyone would be succesful, but it is worth the try. Absolutely better than doing nothing. Here in Nigeria, you still have to hustle, and work smart, so why not the Uk.

What is being told, is so you prepare yourself for the unexpected, the internet should be your best buddy if you intend to relocate, every single resource is in there.
My dad left the UK in 1975, he was always getting sick because of the cold. He worked for the department of education , and I shit you not, he is still getting his pension. Obviously its paltry, but would you believe a system paying pension to someone that left the system 47 years ago? This is why some are craving it.

We can argue all we want but we cant compare both systems, yes, you get taxed a lot but your quality of life is greatly improved, and you would obviously see the reasons why you paying the tax.

This place was started to help people have a clear view of how to go about studying in the Uk and remaining in the Uk, we can make inputs on what people should prepare themselves for, lots of inputs. Let the focus of the thread remain about studying in the Uk.

In addition, do they require POF before the issuance of CAS?

Thank you, everyone that has given us advice about our expectations concerning UK.

This thread is being derailed.
Please can we all get back to our norms of asking and answering questions about why this thread was REALLY created?

Thank you.

It is quite unfortunate that those that are suppose to call people to order are also joining to cause distraction on this thread. More than 10 pages was wasted discussing or arguing about living in the UK which is contrary to the objective of this thread.

Is it not better for them to create a thread such as " pros and cons of studying in UK" OR "Living in UK as a Student".

Pls stay focus comrade...an average Nigerian who enjoyed free education will tell you today that education should not be free.

Jobs are bound in UK provided you are not too choosy, either Scotland, Wales or England you will surely find something.
What should be paramount to you is the cost and conditions of completing your studies, think of options that will save you money from school fee to living cost.
every penny counts.
Good luck

name on passport is not the true test of marriage. It does not change anything. You can use your maiden name and add proofs of marriage which include marriage certificate, pictures, chats, joint bills etc

I have an offer from them too. Which of the campuses are you going to? My brother, here is the good side. ARU is one of the highly ranked universities. Number 38 in the UK. 300 to 350 in the world. You can imagine how good they are.You would get £1,000 discount if u finish paying your fees b4 July 1.
Here is the bad side sort of. Accommodation is a little bit expensive. They don't have a flexible tuition fee payment plan. £4000 deposit and 60% before enrolment that is why most Nigerians shy away from ARU.
However, ARU was my first choice and I am definitely sticking with them because there are plenty quality job opportunities as it is not too far away from London. I'm about to pay my deposit.
Happy choosing!

Are you aware the visa length is not put on the passport but on the BRP and that UK has no governing rules about validity of passport? You can say it is advisable to renew and not she wont get any visa with it. That’s untrue

Hello Everyone

Many thanks to all that have been giving useful insights here.

I have a clarification to make please.

I was refused visiting visa in 2006 and 2008 but can't find the letters again because of long passage of time.

Additionally, I have secured an admission to one of the UK universities but because of comments I read here about reluctance of schoolsto issue CAS upon learning about previous refusals, I did not declare the refusals while applying for the admission. My intention is to the declare the refusals during the visa application stage.

The issue now is that I've been scheduled for pre-CAS interview and I'm wondering if I should still maintain my earlier position or mention the refusals in the questionnaire requiring i indicate previous refusals (if any). Further, will this affect the chance of obtaining the CAS and ultimately visa?

Please, over to you our experienced gurus. Kindly assist.

Thank you

Mayb not getting a visa was the wrong way to put it but they definitely would bring her attention to it with 3 months left if she intends to apply for one in July.
