Do you know the thousands of boys that want to play in Enyimba feeders that you will carry boot and enter?

Do you understand that in Aba you can count ten thousand boys that want to enter there? If all of them go, who will they drop?
did they go and wasn't allowed in?

Yes Odun, the system is the key.We are getting it in the 80s to 90s but suddenly things turned upside down and till today we are in limbo, doing the same thing all the time with no success.

Those who managed our sports in the 80s have a very strong blue prints for grassroots development.....my secondary school handball team represented Nigeria in Finland, also selected outstanding talents in Kwara state secondary schools which i was part played football youth tournament known as Dana cup in Denmark. In the 80s secondary schools produced a lot of stars for national teams....

Olympian like former NTA sport presenter Hameed Adio,Olapade Adenakan,Ezenwas brothers,Chidi Imoh,Innocent Egbunike,Yusuf Ali,Falilat Ogunkoya,Mary Onyali are real grassroots discovery and most of them went from secondary schools to various universities in United States with NSC assistance.....Hakeem the Dream went straight from Ansaru Deen secondary school to United Stated as a basketballer.I can say much about Olapade Adenakan who was my area bro and how he started, the same thing late Sunday Bada,my mate Olympian Bisi Afolabi, these peoples started from secondary schools.

In the 80s st finbarrs produced real footballers for Nigeria national team,Stephen Keshi,Henry Nwosu,Samson Siasia but it is a pity seeing schools without sports field.

What really make it worst now,if you don't have the money you can't enroll your talented kids in football academies in Nigeria,am privy to this cos my senior bro is the Principal of Kwara football academy, meaning the real kids out there don't even have the chance to show case their skills.

I just don't know how things went berserk regarding sports development in Nigeria even in the 80s it wasn't like this...imagine secondary schools travelling out to represent Nigeria then...Oh my God,I remember when my school lost out to another school when America football was introduced newly, the school went to Canada on exhibition tour game.

Please read the bolded, because it seems you are not even in Nigeria or even know what is happening here.

How will 1,000 players play for a feeders team? It is illogical.

At fifteen years old. And it was not just boot and shin guards. He would have sorted it out. It was an expensive list which on normal standard, the club should provide. When the player has made the team and selected as a star player.
name some of the things on the list.

they are constantly doing screening the least talented and the one's lagging are screened out.

I can not even go into details because of sensitive information but I know an academy that was being opened and launched to the public that the selection list was already ready. That is before announcement for screening.

Complete list of 40 players. Before announcement. Academy.

Just leave. It is just national love because the way things are done here is sickening. Merit is almost thrown out the window.

Look at how the last U17 happened without proper screening. Everything is just runs.

Normally to the best of my knowledge, the coach first tours academies to build a base team. Then we have open trial at different sections of the country to find better players than those in the base team before having the final camping list of I think sixty players for camp screening. Before the final list.

I think the last time we just built a base team and agents found their players to get chances to make the team.

It was not like before where we had dates for open trials.

Everything. Nothing left. I have seen it first hand. Like first hand.

Almost everything is done by list. Even selection for Agbero work.

Everything. Even microfinance loans. They just call big men to collect these loans and then they use names to fill up.

Empowerment schemes, list.

Grants, list.

Employement program, list.

Appointments, list.

As he is in Wikki Tourist, what is the chance of him getting signed by a top club in Europe. Literally zero. Unless he gets some national team exposure or some international tournament.

As for Foden, it took playing for Manchester City academy to get signed for a top club in Europe, Manchester City.

Yet, you see playing for Wikki Tourist feeders the same as playing for Manchester City academy, when even NPFL does not have weight.
How many players ever get to play in Top Clubs in Europe

Haba

It is this mentality that has still placed Africa where it is...a third world

Look at the North Africans for example. Look what they built for themselves.

They have a structure, we do not. When we start caring for ourselves and promoting merit, we can talk with pride until then, we should know our lane.

It is not by mouth but action.

I posted this on March 30, 2016. I think with the discussion on ground, we can understand the depth of the Spanish Football development and a model many countries in Europe adopted. It is long but an in depth article.

The Success Of Spain: A Lesson For Every Football Nation

The seniors showed how to do it! And now the juniors showed that even they can do it. Next what? Even the Spanish U5 might win their respective football tournament in the very same way. It’s that time to say that Brazil is no more the most feared football country in the world. It’s time for Spain to take the throne. The victory of Spain U-21 in the European championships recently has further substantiated the claim of the kings of world football. But how has Spain managed this unprecedented success, this unbelievable consistency that every country wants to emulate the Spanish success model?

Super Eagles’ incoming boss Jose Peseiro has reportedly identified eight players who he will look to build his team around ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers.

With the Nigeria Football Federation set to officially announce the new Super Eagles boss, the Portuguese is believed to be keeping a close eye on the current situation and has plans in place.

According to insiders, Peseiro has already identified a core group of players who he believes he can trust at Super Eagles going forward, and the 62-year-old intends to give young players opportunities too.

Maduka Okoye, whose performances have come under fire in recent times, has been studied by Peseiro in recent weeks and the Portuguese intends to try and get the best out of the Watford bound goalkeeper.

The former Al Ahly boss will try to integrate Ademola Lookman, Akinkunmi Amoo and Calvin Bassey to the national team set up very well.

Others are Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo and Victor Osimhen.

Peseiro is also committed to give Nigeria Professional Football League stars the chance to shine in his team. Copied from futbalgalore.com.ng

The context of the debate is not cut your coat according to your size. The cotext of the debate is the gap in grassroot development between the European kids and ours.

Someone said Tammy is better than Osimhen because he has scored 100 goals.

I said, that the reason Tammy is ahead has more to do with his opportunity and not just his talent. It was a tougher root for Osimhen, not that he is more talented than Osimhen.

I explained the gulf in class due to their development structure.

Your reply is cut your coat according to your size.

How is that related to the debate?
