Hello @ WhyNa and others, thanks for the great work. Please, I need some clarification.

I have been working with an agent to get me visa in order to teach in Vietnam. He recently told me that I can only get visa now and while work permit will be given to me by the employer I will be working with when I reach there.

Does this make sense please?

I am raising this because I saw in your post that you got Visa and work permit before you left Nigeria.

Please, do you think I should go ahead with what this person said or otherwise?

Thanks

I see my previous reply that you should be weary of this agent was deleted.

Don't know why but make sure you get your work permit before you leave Nigeria

@Whyna thanks for the updates about your adventures over there so far. I have a problem about something here or lemme say I'm curious. I checked the Vietnamese Dong to Nigerian Naira exchange rate and I discovered the Naira even has more value than the Song and in fact, 5000Dong is equal to just around 91Naira... Please with this, how possible is it for someone to go work over there with the hope of sending money back home to Nigeria. How well do they pay for jobs there? Can one achieve much in Nigeria within few years of being in Vietnam? Thanks!

The difference is...here, you make between 7000-13000 naira per hour.

So in 10 hours, you make more than what some make in a month in Nigeria

Yup. You can start.

Everywhere is open now and there's a huuuuuuuuuge demand for teachers.

In my 2 years plus of being here, it's never been this crazy so anyone who wants to come here to work should start processing their work permit and visa

No they don't pay in dollar. Your salary per hour is negotiated in dollar and you're paid the equivalent in VND

I have religiously followed this thread and I must say, thanks to Whyna.

Although I'll be visiting Vietnam soon, maybe I'll share my experience.

I've traveled to 21 countries of the world, I wanted to make it 30 before I'm 30, but Corona came.

Few weeks ago myself and my friends were chatting and talking about where to explore next, so they mentioned Vietnam and while trying to check for their Visas, I was directed to this thread.

It's giving me serious ideas now,
Imagine working and saving money for my next trip...

When I make the trip, I'll update you all.

Thank you all for making this place interactive.

Update.

3 of my friends 1 American, 2 Canadian have gotten Jobs in Vietnam. They are already working on their TEFL and were allowed to come work for stipends until their certificate is ready.

I got an online offer to teach English to some orphans. It's free. We did it for 4 days when the home coordinator was asking if I would like to come over.

But remember because I'm volunteering it's going to be free. They won't pay me.

I got another offer from Sri Lanka to teach but I've been to Sri Lanka before so I'm not interested.

I just want to explore and experience a new culture.

I hope I'm able to travel to 8 countries before this year ends.

I'll give you updates on my adventures...

Quite an interesting and beautiful story from where I read till where I stopped.

I must say you did a great job by researching and opening a thread to widen people’s initiative.

Saw a guy who condemned the country on the first page, I think he’s into drugs if you ask me lol .

Is it possible that one gets a tourist visa to Vietnam for a week or two?

Thanks.

Honestly, I don't know how many countries I have been to, as I do not count.

But so far this year I have done.
1. Croatia
2. Turkey (repeat)
3. Switzerland (repeat)
4. France (repeat)

I hope to do before the year ends:
1. Italy (repeat)
2. France - Monaco precisely
3. UK (repeat)
4. Thailand (If I can get around to applying for the visa)
5. Kenya.

All in all I reckon I have been to 20 countries.

P.S. please don't refer to me as Sir just use my moniker.

The France, Switzerland and Italy, were they on one visit swoop like you getting a SCHENGEN for one of them and visiting the others??

One thing I learned from your Morocco post is that Morocco is easy to get rather than pay any useless agent.

Then as for going to Morocco I can get a Transit visa of Turkey (Kindly advise if possible) when I go via Turkish Airlines.

Also if one can get a Transit Visa for Holland or France or UK, can one choose any of KLM, Airfrance or Virgin Atlantic (please advise)

Also check your email. I sent you a DM
