Please i need answers. Help my life please..
I applied for a B1/B2 visa last year and got denied. This year i got admitted for a doctoral program. I just went ahead and scheduled an appointment without filing another DS160 form. The earliest date i saw was in october even though my school start date is sometime in fall. Please, am i supposed to fill another form given that i couldn't update the one i had filed already when i applied for the B1/B2? Thank you

My EA was declined for not applying within the 60 days, and EA tab was taken off; I had to keep on searching before I got an earlier date. I would advice you don't take the risk and wait for the 60 day mark before you apply, in the meantime, keep on searching for earlier dates.

Exactly what I am afraid of, I know three people that applied EA before the 60 days and got theirs approved. Also I know someone that applied within that 60 days and get a decline even with a reminder. Please did you get earlier dates for Lagos or Abuja cos I have been checking that of Lagos and no show of any possible earlier dates.

Yes, you are meant to fill a new DS-160 form as the information entered for an F1 visa will differ from the B1/B2 visa. Please don't go for your interview without filling out a new DS-160 form.

Got my dates in Abuja and from the feedback I see on here, it seems Abuja releases more dates periodically.

I haven't applied for an F-2 but I would think the SEVIS number is only issued to the F-1 candidate as the principal applicant.

Let's see if someone who has gone down the F-2 route has better knowledge on this.

F2 will have his/her own i-20 with SEVIS number on it. Enter all information as they appear on the i-20 and the principal applicant is F1

Some say it’s the F1 holders details, some say it’s the F2 applicants details (as it’s Principle not Principal as stated on DS-160) since the spouse is applying alone.

Anyone that applied for F2 separately and after the F1 holder should please clarify.

Guys, if you've got an ND and BSc, you can certainly apply with both certifications without the need for WES evaluation. On no account should you even evaluate your documents except it is required by your school. Most schools do not require the GPA conversion in the US. However, if you must, then evaluate only the BSc without the ND, but apply with both...

Remember, the ND is already on a 4.0 scale, so, you've got no reason to evaluate it as it is not the critical requirement for further studies in this case other than it shows the grad school your academic strength, investment and how passionate you've been towards education....

You're only required to complete the WES evaluation if you're combining the ND with HND, where you'd do the necessary conversation for both independently, in some cases, unofficially.

I applied as a DE student (ND,BS.c), I got admits with and without funding but all without any form of WES completion. Actually, I did an unofficial WES (free of charge) for my BSc, in my current school.

Thank you... I am planning to do that too. But I am just being careful that Lagos consulate doesn’t read that two appointments have been canceled on it( I.e one from Lagos Consulate and the other time myself) so now that it’s linked and showing that I can use it to schedule appointment for F1 visa while it was paid at the bank for B1/b2.

Does canceling appointments earlier on B1/b2 jeopardize requesting for emergency appointments on the linked F1 application later time cos Lagos doesn’t come close to publish earlier dates now. I just want to be careful

Okay the way I understand this, appointment was only cancelled once on the previous MRV. If that's the case, you still have a chance to use the previous MRV. So why don't you try and add your wife to the previous one and see what happens.

To those that were previously denied F1 visa, it is not uncommon for the VO to ask you what has changed in your second interview application... Its almost always the first question.

VO: You've been here before, what has changed?

You: Talk about the new school you intend to attend, standardized tests taken, the new course and Program, fellowship/funding/scholarship achieved, new Job acquired, and how well you've done research and well motivated for grad studies....

Overall, cases are particularly peculiar, so find yours and carve your niche.

The principal applicant is the F1 whether applying separately or together. It's also stated on the F2's i-20
