hi, I found a comment of yours on a thread about gyneacomastia... If you don't mind, there are some things I'd love to ask you as regards this condition. Thanks

I throway salute my brother Slimtuns. I dug up the original thread in the health forum, and here it is with my updating entry to hopefully bring the topic to the front page of the health section.

Don't forget that this is purely a surveillance drone, a flying camera for early warning, whose alert will then trigger the deployment of heavy metal on the ground, or from the skies.

That eye in the sky is vital, just as armed drones also have their role for long range selective target destruction, which is handled by much larger fixed-wing drones like the Predator and the Reaper.

I love your use of words.
Are in the military or something like that?

To the topic,
I love drones.. I watch reviews and videos of them on YouTube.
However, I don't own a drone.. And I heard it would be seized by customs as it's a contraband if one buys from aliexpress and the likes.

I would love to own and fly one someday and take awesome aerial shots and videos.

Nice thread

Hello YoungElder, and thanks for stopping by to drop a comment on this subject. Always good to encounter other people who appreciate the magic of flight.

Drones are perfectly legal to own in Nigeria, and they are commonly used by photographers covering weddings and other parties, so their importation to Nigeria is routine. That said, the monetary value of some drones is well known to customs officers and other airport rats, so theft is a very real possibility whenever a drone is being imported. Fortunately, many of the smaller folding drones look more like a smart phone than a flying machine, making them more user-friendly.

Over the next couple of years, new restrictive legislation introduced in the EU and USA, is likely to devalue many of the first generation GPS drones, which is good news for hobbyists looking to buy a flying toy for use in Africa and other Third World countries, where laws, are, ahem, negotiable, to an extent.

Yeah.. That's nice.

I'm really looking forward to flying my own drone someday soonest.

Meanwhile, I'll be following the thread to learn from the masters like you.

My love for drones is out of this world. I had to buy a Fimi X8 SE 2020 in December last year. It has so far been wonderful. 8KM Range, 35minutes flight time, 65km/h speed, high wind resistance, 4K 30FPS camera, 3-axis mechanical gimbal e.t.c.

Great minds think alike. I also bought the Fimi X8 2020, and a couple of the pictures I posted earlier in this thread, were taken by my Fimi X8. I bought mine because there was enormous interest in this model, in the RC Groups website, where all drone nerds worldwide, compare notes.

https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3631021-Official-FIMI-X8-SE-X8-SE-2020-Folding-Quadcopter-Owner-s-Thread-V2/page348

The reason I still keep going back to my Phantom 3 Standard, despite its lower resolution camera, is because I can pre-plan flights on my desktop using the FREE Litchi Mission Hub facility, automatically share those pre-planned flight paths into my smart device simply by powering the iPad up within reception range of the desktop's WiFi transmitter, preparatory to flying any of those numerous saved waypoint missions at any later point in time.

With the Fimi X8, one has to have the drone powered up, and hovering, to be able to program waypoint missions, which all consumes precious battery power. Of course, one could simply devote one full battery discharge to programming and saving several flight plans, such that one could then launch the craft with a fully charged battery to fly any selected autonomous mission, but that is a lengthy and cumbersome procedure, compared to the convenience of using the Litchi Mission Hub to pre-plan flights for DJI drones, but not as yet for the Fimi X8.

I love them waypoint missions. Lift off, note the time, start the mission, go relax indoors, then, 5 minutes prior to the expected time of arrival, step back outdoors for the landing. Now that is armchair drone flying at its finest ha ha. Always so exciting to see the video footage recorded after each landing. For example, I often record hawks and magpies getting curious enough about drones to intercept them hundreds of feet up, and then fly curious circles around their airborne robotic visitor, edging in closer with each pass.

Wow, that wouldn't be you, would it ? My Spidey Senses tell me it is he he. Pleased and honored to make your acquaintance. This is a very thorough and insightful review, with enough performance specs and design detail to please even the most discerning of drone-meisters.

You better watch it with those formidable technical writing skills, though, because drone companies might start sending you free drones to review, knowing that they will recoup such outlays of free merchandise many times over, when those reviews translate into boosted global sales figures.

Not to worry, because if you find yourself in possession of too many free high-end drones, I will gallantly volunteer to take a few of them off your shelves at no charge, so as to test fly them in preparation for my own review series, rendered exclusively for West African technophiles in fluent broken English, so as to carve out my own commercial review niche that is distinct from your eloquent summaries penned in the Queen's English.

Cool. I am getting too old to climb these palm trees tapping wine and defying gravity, so maybe, just maybe, a side gig as an online writer might be in the cards for me.

I really like the idea of getting paid to write, now that it has become clear I may never land that dream job as locker-room attendant in a coed dorm.

Amazing views from drones. I never expected such locations in Nigeria to look so cool! I also use drones pretty often, and I like to film different beautiful places worldwide. So we can say it is my hobby. But as we speak about a drone, I think that people should know about the safety rules and some trick that will help them save their drones. I had many situations when I could lose my drone, but I was lucky to find it all the time, and there was no damage due to the high quality. So, the guy never forgets to read about how to prevent your drone from crashing. There are many things that you don't know for sure.

I had many situations when I could lose my drone, but I was lucky to find it all the time, and there was no damage due to the high quality. So, the guy never forgets to read about how to prevent your drone from crashing. There are many things that you don't know for sure.

You have touched on a very important consideration for any pilot, namely safety for people and structures on the ground. Before even launching my first hobby-grade drone, I had mastered the drone piloting art using a computer screen simulator called Real Flight 7.5, which comes with a controller that is almost identical to the one used to fly most drones including the Phantom 3 series that I own. The simulator practice takes place with the pilot watching the drone onscreen with their desktop computer, while manipulating the controller in the comfort of their home.

The advantage of the simulator is that new pilots can practice for many hours, taking off, landing gently, and most importantly of all, flying in all directions with growing confidence. When the drone is flying towards the pilot, for example, the control inputs are REVERSED, such that pushing the stick to go left sends the drone to the right.

Anyone not well versed in that simple logic is virtually guaranteed to crash the drone the very first time they try to fly it without simulator training. With sufficient practice using the simulator on a desktop computer screen, however, the pilot can quickly develop "muscle memory" whereby all control inputs are carried out without even needing to think first.

That said, equipment failure can bring down the drone of even an expert pilot, as occurred to me some time ago when my drone had just applied the brakes after returning from a 6-mile round trip mission when for reasons I still don't understand, all power was lost, the propellers stopped spinning, and the drone dropped like a brick, hitting the ground from 140 feet up and smashing to bits.

There was some wailing and gnashing of teeth on that day for sure, but suspecting that I had been running my flight batteries too low by programming my missions too long, I then went back and reduced the distance covered on each of my stored auto-pilot missions, so as to reduce the chances that a catastrophic power loss of that nature might recur with the replacement drone I later acquired.

Given that China is the world's number one drone manufacturer, it is not surprising that China is the birthplace of a new artform entailing coordinated drones by the thousands sharing the same piece of the night sky to create amazing multi-colored displays. The amount of software integration required to fly so many drones within inches of each other is mind-boggling to contemplate.

The margin for error is so thin with thousands of drones zipping inches past each other in three dimensions. Just thinking about the math involved is enough to induce a mild headache ha ha.

The internet's Grand Master of Litchi auto-flight waypoint mission planning for DJI Phantom3 drones is without question, Baltimore resident Dirty Bird, who publishes breathtaking video footage showing multiple drones flying in procession over majestic city-scapes and performing elaborate aerial ballet sequences accompanied by soaring musical soundtracks.

Here are a couple of Dirty Bird's epic drone movies that are sometimes filmed in one continuous un-edited take. This footage is mesmerizing and hypnotic in effect. Dirty Bird Productions, coming to a city near you.

Provided you don't fly your drone near an airport or other restricted airspace, you're good to go in Nigeria, assuming that is where you reside.

With 18 minutes flying time per battery charge, and 300 meters control range the Hollystone will always be within visual range. It looks like a good introduction to camera drones.

In Ghana starting three years ago in 2019, fixed-wing (airplane) drones were introduced as a means of delivering vital medical supplies at speed when needed in emergency situations. Blood plasma, anti-snake venom, and other essential medical supplies are now being sent to rural hospitals by drone parachute drop. This innovative idea was first implemented in Rwanda, about a decade ago, and now Ghana has introduced the same highly efficient delivery method.

To eliminate operator error as a factor in this drone delivery service, both takeoff and landing are partially automated. The drone is launched from a long slide with a catapult pulley system, and when its mission is over and it is due back, the drone is programmed to fly slowly into a net.

Wake up Nigeria and put some of that crude oil revenue to good use by investing in a drone delivery service by Zipline drones, the main player in this highly specialized and cost-effective method of air delivery for urgently needed medical supplies.

The future is here NOW fellow drone fans. Two companies, Auterion and German company Quantum systems have jointly released a VTOL drone that can take off vertically like a helicopter, then transform the thrust of its engines into fixed wing, airplane mode for fast forward flight.

The technical specifications of this bird are amazing, to say the least.

1. Two HOURS flight time due to improved battery technology

2. Radio link range of 15 kilometers with crystal clear video feedback from the plane to the pilot on the ground.

3. THIRTY power zoom lens that can enable the drone to loiter far from the target being filmed, yet produce high definition video imagery.

4. Vertical takeoff and Landing (VTOL) capability eliminates the need for a runway to launch missions.

5. Wingspan 4.5 feet for enhanced stability even when the winds pick up.

6. The drone can be converted from a fixed-wing airplane to a q tricopter literally in seconds

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWCnceeU2sY

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIec3gEcHXU

This craft would be IDEAL for recon missions in Nigeria's war on terror. The operator can be ten MILES away from the targets, and the bird can even follow specific vehicles or individuals on the ground, providing real-time positional updates for inbound airforce attack aircraft summoned to administer destructive force.

VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) planes for hobbyists MUST drop in price below that mythical one thousand dollar mark to lure over drone owners who are currently loyal to quadcopter drones. A few more players have now emerged in this soon-to-explode area of VTOL drone technology.

Auterion does not publish the price of its Vector VTOL plane whose superior performance is aimed at law enforcement and the military. This model features a 2-hour flight time on a single battery charge and a 15 Km radio transmission range. The camera features a 30X power zoom lens which is deal for monitoring subjects on the ground from a distance such that the drone engines are not even heard on the ground.

The OMP Hobby ZMO VTOL plane runs between $900 and $1,400 depending on customer-selected options. ( 25-mile round trip range )

The FoxTech Nimbus VTOL plane costs between $2,700 and $3,800 USD depending on customer-selected options. ( 15Km or 10-mile range)

These VTOL aircraft would be so much cheaper to operate for the Nigerian military and police when compared to manned helicopters' initial price and operating costs. The superiority of a fixed-wing drone over a quadcopter is that fixed-wing planes consume far less battery power, fly faster, and cover greater distances per battery charge in comparison to quadcopters. The beauty of VTOL planes, is of course that they can levitate off the ground like a helicopter without needing any runway for takeoff or landing.
