•Shortlists 8,800 for overseas scholarships

As part of efforts to boost the capacity of Nigerians to work in the oil and gas industry, the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) has shortlisted 8,800 candidates from over 26,000 applicants for this year’s Overseas Scholarship Scheme, OSS.

The PTDF OSS is an annual programme that awards scholarships to Nigerians for MSc and PhD studies in partner universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, China and Malaysia.

Speaking on the process for this year’s selection, Mr. Bello Mustapha, Manager, Overseas Scholarship Scheme, PTDF, said the process which started in December 2021 would see the shortlisted candidates interviewed across centres in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kaduna and Bauchi.

He said: “Over 26,000 people applied for the scholarship and over  8000 were selected to come and do the interviews.

“We conduct the interviews in the six geopolitical zones of the country but we are doing in five geopolitical zones of the country this year because of the issues of insecurity in the Southeast.” 

Mustapha explained that candidates in the Southeast have been advised to pick centres outside the region to enable them participate in the interview process.

“We sent them mails to choose any centre. In all the geopolitical zones we have, you can actually choose any centre that you want. You may be in the South East and you decide to come and do it in Abuja, or you can even go to Bauchi”, he added.

Normal Nigeria marginalize Igbos, but ipob activities is giving more excuses for further marginalization.

If this continues they might even cancel elections in South East and heaven won't fall, So IPOB criminals stop ruining Igbos in the South East..
Think about your people, the people outside don't give a dam.n.

This comment isn't in support of the decision of PDTF, but the fact remains if IPOB had stayed peaceful(despite the unlawful onslaught they received from the army, or they disengaged their agitation like the yoruba nation guys all these won't be this bad) the PDTF and FG won't come up with this tasteless and flimsy excuse to further marginalize and stress Igbos resident in the south east. BUT ULTIMATELY IPOB IS DESERVING OF THE BLAME

You didn't remind them that it didn't stop them from lobying world bank to help them despite they are releasing already captured ones. in fact how many days did it take to repair the bombed Kaduna to Abuja train and the rail has started working again even when the victims are yet to regain freedom...imagine it happened in south east. They simply hate you and they want you to join hands with them to hate ONE resistance that understands their game(IPOB) THATS WHY CRIMES A PINNED ON THEM EVEN WITHOUT INVESTIGATION AND YOU'RE HELPING THEM DO THAT.

A typical Igbo man might be smart, intelligent and all but a northern is far more smarter than you because they take a lot of time to plan and execute before you realise what you're helping them do to your self it's already late.
