SaiRuiMall:No really update, after going to their offices twice, they place a fine of 250k on the meter for me, no solution than I have to pay 250k as fine, imagine that, I’ve reconnect the light back to use my remaining credit on the meter before it runs to loss. Now I have to provide 250k if I want to continue using the meter. That’s the update |

Xwizard:Good for you. I wish they billed you more. You deserve it. You had to put your burden on other people. Those with estimated billings in your area are the ones suffering it because your bills will be calculated with theirs. Go and read more about how it works and go and pay your debt. |

I need some advice because whilst I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong I don’t know if that’s enough to stay out of trouble Many months ago I called the nepa officer of my area to help me fix what I thought was a problem with the meter in my rented flat he came, took my meter and the remote and left claiming it needed specialist aid. Due to this I was forced to switch to estimated bill which at the time wasn’t a bad thing (I’m a student living with other students off campus) it was about 5k then so I didn’t mind but it’s been over a year now and he has been giving the same ambiguous excuse as to why the meter wasn’t ready (no parts) Recently I learned the officer has been moved else where and now with the inflation of charges I had to find out what was going on with my meter only to be told by another officer that it had probably been sold off and is being used somewhere else in the city (an assumption I later confirmed) Knowing fully well myself and flatmates couldn’t possibly Keep up with the current monthly estimate bill of 10k (which they claimed would only increase in the months to come) I decided that rather than go completely without power I would just go home and pick up an old meter that my dad wasn’t using anymore and be using that in the mean time this meter is basically brand new and hasn’t been tampered with what so ever. so my question to the Nairaland community now is: When these useless nepa people come to do their monthly visits how do I convince them that: 1. The meter is genuine and hasn’t been tampered with 2. That owing to the fact that my meter was basically stolen by one of their own they should understand my situation; I have ALWAYS paid nepa bills on time and in proper fashion but the current estimate bill rates for power THAT I DON’T EVEN SEE TO USE is was just not possible for me to keep paying and this was my only option ![]() |
