Crazy. That's not hypothesis man, that's a hard reality. Its a very tasking one only few can pay. I mean very few. Anyway there are few teams behind the stage currently, with a different orientation from 90 percent of Nigerian tech devs' dispositions, working out these "hypothetical" schemes. Very few passionate members. I'm glad these minds exist on our terrain.
Yep we don't have an enabling environment, and no that's not an excuse. You'll always find a way to do what you want to. So your reality, is valid to me, cos I've gone through that way. My reality remains theoretical to you, cos its not the norm here.
Yeah, and also about giving value, even a LAWMA garbage collector provides value. That's different from where innovation and creativity is required, which can be channeled to solve vast problems around you in realtime. Its a different context.

1. Learn the basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.(Not indept, but basics. On a scale of 10, It should be 5,5 and 6 respectively).

2. Pick up Java. Don't compromise the basics. Learn the syntax and semantics well.

3. Pick up Spring/Spring Boot Frameworks(Understand the MVC)

4. Learn a database. MySQL is ok.

5. Learn Unit testing (This will set you apart and get employers interested in you)

6. Learn Maven, Hibernate, JPA and Maven(These are just implementation processes. Don't be scared. After you learn the basics, you can pick this in 3weeks)

7. Most important part: Build at least two solid projects that implement all the above. Two sold projects are better than vague 10 random projects.

8. If you want to stand out as I did, write one cloud certification. Got Google's scholarship and wrote GCP, and did Microsoft 30 days challenge and got a discount of Azure, which I paid just $40(17k). This will make you irresistible.

Today i practiced floats i built popular website layout like bbc, khan academy, techcrunch with float. I was able to finish khan academy quite quickly and made it responsive ran into minor problem with bbc which i can easily solve and couldn't get to techcrunch my system battery ran out

Tomorrow sunday:
I'll finish bbc and techcrunch and make them responsive and then i'll remake them all using flexbox to make sure i've gotten it mastered

The whole of next week will be dedicated to javascript and beginner level DSA

The path I drafted above is same for full-stack dev. Just adding React/Angular/Vue.js would make it a full-stack path.

That pay wouldn't fascinate you, if you are result oriented and given to solving problems around you for enhancement and easy living.
That differentiates consumers from producers.
Its high time Nigerian youths took up a course for who they are and what they require to effect a productive environment.., not running after naira bills at the expense of real value, for consumption. This is how our politicians think too. Ex governors wanna be senators for the money attached, not the values to be given.
This could be why we may never have a Silicon Valley in Nigeria, even if we may get to have the highest number of devs in the globe.
The reward that goes with result driven passion is wealth, not just "money". Wealth means your name can raise money for itself.
Come on guys, let's be different.., different from these political errors. Kill this Nigerian bug. It'll take us no where. Individually successful but collectively impoverished, cos everyone is consuming, none contributing.

Hmmmmm. Quite interesting. I have sang the same song. From my little experience I noticed that our environment influence our thinking and our policy/institutions is not helping matters either.

The money bug has really affected our thought process, productivity and success and worse it's going to be a never ending chase. Everything you said is idealist and not going to happen. That's the reality. Some years ago a company couldn't get a local firm for UI/UX (they failed audit) and went for a foreign firm, and that applies for a few other fields as well. There are opportunities/rewards when we put in hard work. My satisfaction in whatever I do is paramount to me.

Each one will decide a path to take and follow in life.

This is really detailed more than I expected

I've been learning Backend webdev using JavaScript for like 3 months+ now using Mongoose, Express and Node.
What prompted my question is,
I made some findings online and Java seemed to be a more robust backend language when compared with a language like JavaScript (node).

I have a request and also a question

The first course I used was "Java programming and software engineering fundamentals"---Cousera(Duke university).

After that, I had series of courses on Udemy. Just pick a highly rated one, then master the act of using StackOverflow and Geekforgeeks.

For choice of database, there's no need to look for speciality now. You'd end up working with both.

Leetcode hands down. Algo expert is rubbish. Very few test cases to even understand the problem at hand. A rubbish ide completely useless for debugging and you can't see other solutions aside Algo experts own. Also, all of Algo experts questions were copied word for word from leetcode. Leetcode is community focused. Each question can have over 100 solutions. Things that you won't even expert. Also on leetcode you can filter questions by company. Like if I have an interview with Facebook I can go on leetcode and start solving Facebook past questions.

Leetcode hands down especially if you are actively interviewing.

Leetcode questions are also very similar to what you will be seeing on codility and hackkerank screens.
