Last year I was on #60k per month this year new job then #160k and yes I felt I have arrived and in my mind I will save #100k per month. In reality the first two months I was able to save #60, fast forward to now no savings and now everything run into one thing or another.

Honestly speaking,,,, 50k is really poor,, especially when you solely depend on it to carry you a whole month...

I earn 50k ... But I do side hustles that gives me 5k on a daily, I use that to cover my feedings and some little needs.. I sometimes save from it ... When my 50k drops ,, I immediately move 30k to my piggyvest safe lock account.. the remaining 20k I will keep it for emergency..

E no easy oo,,, but I get goal ,, I know say i will definitely achieve it with my savings and increase my income...

Try the save even if na little as 5k... Thanks..

You live on 50k a month?

A labourer is paid 4k daily and he starts work at 8 and closes at 4pm.

Please sir, you must not be a civil servant. The way Nigeria salary is built is meant to make you poor for life. With 50k can you eat nkwobi of 5k a plate or don't you know that you deserve it after struggling in Nigeria.

It's actually a miracle that 50k lasts you for three weeks and I need your template on how you do it

hahahha @ my template

1. Download an expense management app
2. Write down your budget before you start spending
3. Ensure you are spending on necessities and not just what you like.

I must say this year has been better and much brighter compared to the previous year. But one thing i have been worried about is my saving culture or is it that what i earn isn't high/sufficient enough to cater for bills like transportation, feeding, housing, electricity and other miscellaneous bills.

My salary is a little above 50k and before you know it, by the 3rd week of the month, everything would have finished. I cant say i am spending lavishly on anything because i an introvet. I hardly get to save anything at the end of the month and it pains me alot. I wonder if i am the only one facing this experience or there are other people earning lower or higher facing this.

Could it be that my saving culture is poor? How do you solve this challenge or how are you coping with it.

O'boy everything don cost for this country.

I earn six-figure salary and the very day I get paid, it won't take more than 24hours before my account balance starts reading zero "0". But the good thing is; I have been a member of a savings group, so immediately I get paid, they deduct whatever amount I have set for savings. The process is automated.

ADVICE: Open a Fixed-Deposit account and make the savings automated. Then you are good to go.

Good luck.

Don’t be hard on yourself . The salary is so so poor ..
You can’t save anything tangible with that earnings . But if you still want to save, downlOad pigg - vest , lock 5k anytime you collect your Salary, that will give you 60k in a year , so poor but still better .

Savings is not easy, if I were you , I’ll look for a way to triple my income

You're not the one who is lavishing here bro... It's Buhari who has lavished all our economy into oblivion. So I'd guess he's the one to answer your question

I don't know if anyone else has said this but if you really want to save, save before you start spending. That is, immediately you're paid, keep like 10% aside. Keep it somewhere you can't touch it, like in all these local piggy banks or the internet one.

The thing is, irrespective of how much you earn, as long as you don't know how to save, the money will never be enough to sort your expenses. The funny reality is that if you start earning 30k now, you still will live this way, if you earn 70k, same. It's like the universe always sends expenses tailored to your pocket size. You then choose how to manage them.

I'd recommend you get the book: "The richest man in Babylon" and read. Then you'll realize that you aren't the only one and that an increase in your salary won't really change much.

First, I will say it depends on which part of the country you are working in for you to be able to save out of a 50k salary. Things are considerably cheaper in some parts of the country than the others.
See naa only person wey get much people to lean on dey slack. As a man you need to learn to save by all means, struggle to stand on your own feet. The 50k is more than enough if you can close your eyes to some expenses.

Although i am also in your shoes, For instance when I got my job in Ogun, I had to stay in a place for like 4 months. I noticed i was unable to save 1 kobo. I analyzed what could be the cause. I struggled to save to get a face me I face you room.
After the payment I realized I couldn’t afford a mattress at the moment … that’s if I want to survive going to work, transportation.., eating and not tasking my colleagues for money. Apart from that I still have younger ones I am sending money.

Omo I painted the room myself and bought a rug. I bought two big blanket and I have laid it down in the room like that. I dey use am sleep pending the time I will buy a better mattress. No one will know that’s how my room looks and most importantly, i will be able to save gradually.

You understand life. You'll go far

1.I didn't say I saved the whole 5h. But I saved
2.I didn't mention anyone else taking care of my needs
3. I wasn't talking about being wise, the emphasis are on discipline- you decide a quota of your fee you want to save and keep to that.
