It's possible. A friend mistakenly picked a date for June 2023. He emailed the consulate for EA on Monday and was asked to log in on Wednesday and got a Friday appontment date, he got the student visa on friday in Lagos.

His porgram begins at he end of this month.

Good news. Thank you

Good day all. In keeping with the spirit of this thread, I share my visa interview experience below.
Waited for 60 days to resumption of my program and applied for EA. Approved within 3 days,

Arrived 7 am even though my appointment was for 8:30 am. No body paid any attention to this discrepancy and we were gingerly ushered in. After all the checks, it was time to face the visa officer, a Caucasian female. Biometrics done.

Program: Masters
Center: Abuja

V.O: Where do you work?
ME: I work with ---- (Federal Government Regulatory Institution)
V.O: Who is funding your study?
ME: I received $17k no strings attached scholarship which comes as a tuition fee reduction. I will be funding the balance my self
V.O: What would you be doing when you complete your studies?
ME: I intend to do a lateral career switch from my present role in Information Technology to Bleep within the same organisation. This program will enable me build competency to be able to function as a... (stated the role here).
V.O: Do you have a guaranteed job with this agency after your studies?
ME: Most definitely, I have been working here continuously for nine years, so I am qualified for study leave per the organisation's policy.
V.O: Are you married?
ME: Yes maam
V.O: Children?
ME: Yes, 2 kids, boys, 3 and 6
V.O: Is your wife working?
ME: Yes
V.O: Where?
Me: She is working as a medical doctor with a a university teaching hospital
V.O: Would you be going with your family?
ME: No
(Here the V.O started typing furiously for quite a while and I started wondering if I have overreached my self and closed any avenue for my family ever joining me. An idea came to me, so I cleared my throat to get her attention. She ignore me and continued typing)
ME: Although two years is such a long time for one to be away from family, I foresee a situation where they could come for a short stay, during children's school break and when my wife is able to secure her annual leave with her employer.
(The V.O stopped typing, looked at me briefly, nodded and smiled and resumed typing)
V.O: Everything is in order and I would be approving your visa.
(She reached for the white paper and handed it to me)

Hope this helps. Thanks peeps. See you at uncle Sam's. Oh Philly here I come!

Which school in Philly are you going to ?

It was through a regular selection.. Just a random day at work, in front of my desktop computer.. I decided to open this Nairaland thread just to try my luck for available dates. Lord knows I wanted to stick to lagos, but I got frustrated after scouting for dates in lagos, so I just switched to Abuja bé bé. And on that faithful day.. I just said lemme just see what this people are saying.. And BOOM! A Godsent Someborry posted about available slots in Abuja.. I think it was 11,12,13,14,22…..,, Omo! I no even think twice.. Hello everyone. I am a newbie here and I recently just graduated from a University here in Nigeria. I studied Mechanical Engineering and I am looking forward to start my application to any University in USA for my MSc program. I meet with an Agent to help me with my application but the Agent told me I can’t get any admission into any University in USA because I graduated with a 2.2(lower class). I was introduced to this thread by a friend who told me I can get help from here. Please Guru’s in the house I need help with my application. Can I get an admission to any University with 2.2 and can I get some fundings too please (Fundings because I am not from a rich family just an average family surviving). Please I want to try and get my application done correctly and I don’t want to fall in the hands of Agent again this time again. Because after I graduated from University an Agent helped me to apply to a University in USA but for a Bsc degree in Computer Science, he said because I can’t get any admission with a 2.2 so I should go through Undergraduate which I did and I was denied a visa I guess because due to my long years after High school. PS: I finished High school since 2012 and I had a delay of 4 years even before I got admission into a university here in Nigeria and I studied a 5 years course (Engineering) that means I have a 10years gap since my High school and I just graduated from University Dec 2021. I have fall in hands of Agent and I spent a lot with no outcome. My problem now is how do I apply for a university with funding with a 2.2 and also another fear is how would the VO see me because I previously applied for a Bcs in Computer Science which I was denied and now I want to apply for a MSc in Mechanical Engineering my fear now is won’t the VO be thinking how come I applied for a Bsc in Computer Science and so soon I am applying for a MSc in Mechanical Engineering which I didn’t include on my former DS-160 that I already had a degree because the Agent told me it’s a red flag to say that.
1. Won’t the VO be thinking how come the switch so soon and
2. also how to defend it that I already had a degree in Mechanical Engineering and I came for a Bsc in computer science and now I want to go for a MSc in Mechanical Engineering?? cry cry
Please Guru’s I need help. I’ll appreciate any response from you guys. Any school recommendations would be appreciated too please. Thank you

Happy Sunday guys...
Plz I have couple of questions to ask and I would love quick response cos it's urgent.
I applied for visa twice in 2015 and was denied base on the fact that I choose community college then. Fast forward I finished my undergraduate in 2018 and have been working at Lagos state ministry alausa since my graduation. Now have admission for MBA at central Michigan university.
My question now is can I mention my brother name who is a citizen by naturalization while filling my ds160 form with raising an issue with VO
Is using my dad as sponsor a great choice despite the fact that am working?

Hello guys please, I need your advise on this. I attended an f1 visa yesterday at Lagos and I was denied. How can I get a new appointment day?
I saw previously denied section which leads to no date and a regular which leads to some dates. Since I was previously refused can I pick a regular. I need your advice urgently.

Wow! I was expecting to see a lot of transcripts posted today but.....well.
Let me post mine.

In Jan,2022, I joined this platform because I had a challenge which I sought for help on this platform.
I had applied for B1/B2 visa renewal for my family and I since May, 2021. While awaiting the interview which was scheduled for May 2022, my son got admission for a Bachelor's degree in the US. We tried to switch his visa category to F1 but we were informed by the embassy that our previously booked appointment may be cancelled automatically, if we initiated the switch. The advice was to wait for our interview in May, but he wouldn't show up for the interview. Afterwards, we could now switch his visa and reschedule him.
Fastforward to May, we received messages fastforwarding our appointment 3days earlier.
We attended the interview and got our B1/B2 visas approved with a few questions asking when last we travelled, how long we stayed, why one person was missing from the group appointment, if we had changed jobs in the last 2years.....
This was on May 23rd.
May 25th we tried to reschedule my son's appointment after re-filling his DS160 with his old MRV fee but didn't pick a date in May 2023 until the 3rd of June,(last week) just after his account was frozen for 72hours.
That same Friday,3rd of June, we decided to apply for Emergency appointment as his earlier start date is July, 24th with the necessary documents. 5mins later, we received a mail denying the emergency due to shortage of staff in Lagos consulate.
My son was so downcast and discouraged, pleading we switched to Abuja consulate. I just told him there was still time and that he should calm down. We prayed and continued trusting God for an appropriate date to crop up while he joined appointment dates groups for both Lagos and Abuja. Note, we had only one reschedule lifeline left.
On Tuesday, the 7th of June, after trying to check the portal for dates for the Lagos group, someone dropped the alert of opened spaces on the whatsapp group. Instantly, he logged on and secured today's date- the 10th! Several slots kept dropping- over 100 openings.
That was a miracle as he had seen June 10th when he applied for Emergency but he was denied. Like joke, that date eventually jumped back at him. Phew! oro po! grin grin.
Out of the applicants today, he was singled out with a few ppl and taken to a room to meet an elderly VO. He sat down to chat with the VO and his assistant.
Anyway, bottom line-
VISA APPROVED!!!
Transcript uploading soon though it probably will not apply to alot of people as this is for a Bachelors degree program and applicant has US travel history.
Nothing is impossible if only you can believe! From the switch to F1 visa to search for dates to denial of emergency appointment to eventually getting a favourable date and ultimately, visa approval!
God wey do am for us go do yours too by His grace. grin

Amen, thank you for these words of encouragement

Good day All.
Pls I need clarification.
I used my friend's address near the school as "address where you will stay in the U.S"

While I used the school and school official's details in the "U.S contact Information " section.

Hope this wouldn't seem like a conflict?
If it does, is it possible to make changes to an already submitted ds 160?

Please can people with experience on this pls advice.
Thanks.

Also I have an active B1visa and travelled for a month in December. Can this be a + or - to my application?

Hello. I'm new here. Please I need advice and the way forward. I want to apply for visa and my international passport expires April 2023, but the Immigration service is delaying my passport. Should I go ahead and use my old passport and apply pending until it comes out. Because time is ticking. This is urgent Thanks.

Hope it won't affect my US visa chances? When the new passort comes out before my interview date, can I use the new passport at the Embassy?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by photoberi: 7:20pm On Jun 12, 2022
Hello Everyone,

Information for people who were refused visa!!!

Please Please and Please when you reapply, DO NOT CHOOSE REGULAR.

They sent people back on Friday with Blue paper, They were not interviewed at all. The Consular said they could not trust their judgement since they could not say they were previously denied in the Visa Portal.

While I type this, I am aware that choosing previously refused visa will not give any dates, but that is what everyone previously denied in the past 6 months is expected to click and hope that they open up the date.

I am hoping that someone will shed light on how people who were previously refused Visa will get date apart from clicking Regular.

Let's all keep hope alive!

It doesn't affect anything. I think your Passport just needs to have a 6month validity before applying for study visa. You can check up online.

Hello @photoberi
Did this just start? Cos I know a couple of people who have selected regular and were interviewed and got their visa.
Which Consular denied them for this reason? Lagos or Abuja?
Because I have been searching for over a month using previously denied but no date for almost 2 months.
One of them just advised me to select regular or I will not get any date.
