Alright folks I now understand how to upload the pictures .. This is just more like a diary of my day to day activities at the shop since the strike started .. I'll try update on Sundays and take pictures as much as I can .. I enjoy working on the engines more so the pictures would be Abit limited hence my hands are most times greasy but I'll try my best. The technology packed in BMW engines amaze me .alright let's go 1 Like |

My first job since I got there ..changing of the shock absorbers ..I've done like three weeks there before this and have seen that done only once 2 Likes

This was a case of engine failure on the 1 series . It started with the MAF issues and then vanos and boom engine was sounding like a tractor . During the vanos servicing we discovered chips of metals on the vanos and just adviced owner to buy a new engine 1 Like

The first generation e87 came with a n46 engine N46B.... , I don't quite remember but we replaced with a faster n46B20 engine the difference is the latter didn't have a dip stick and a slight change to the top cylinder cover Plus it came with 150...something hp the former had around 130 Still faster than a Hilux lol 5 Likes 1 Share

Antihelminth:How many years experience do you have working on BMW vehicles? How popular is the BMW brand in Plateau (I assume you are based there even though the pictures look like BMW village in Gudu). |

fineboynl:Very few people do..people that have test driven BMWs wouldn't want to drive a Toyota again .. The technology in them sheer speed and handling is different . That's for people that understand cars .. Normal everyday people don't drive them 9 Likes |

Setting the timing on the N46 engine is crazy ...everyone was lost including my boss ..we invited other BMW mechanics they were talking things we didn't want to do to the engine .. So I checked YouTube  Finally  There are no timing marks on the engine 4 Likes |

Mr X came with misfiring issues ..checked and found all the plugs with carbon , Cleaned and put them back but then cylinder 3 was still misfiring .. Plus it was making this sound like like the tapets are beyond redemption . We decided to open the valve cover and then discovered that oil was not actually being pumped to the top cylinder 1 Like

After changing the oil pump and still the sound was there .although looking at the tapets they looked very okay but that sound was just there Decided to to take another approach and change the top cylinder since all of us agree that the sound is from there We had some in stock so we was just throwing them in and changing But that too didn't work .. We den decided to remove piston three since it was the one that was misfiring And then we saw that

Removed all the Pistons and they where alright ..but piston three has marks Very bad ones People of God who has an M42 engine they are not using we need just a piston 2 Likes

Removed the bottom plate in hopes of finding pieces of metal or something .. During the course of the repairs we changed crank shaft bearings but nope still didn't work ..

This is just what the oil pump looks like on the m42 engine We changed like 3 of it before we saw a substantial amount of oil being supplied to the top cylinder

The car is a BMW 318i 2005 .. But I think the real engine was swapped for an M42 instead of an N42 double vanos .. Wonder who advised him to do that .I think they did that rubbish in the shop since I asked my boss just smiled ..I think he is wondering how I knew the engine was swapped 2 Likes |
