Yes your agent is right, admission with a 2.2 to a Canadian university is slim, cos the minimum requirements of Canadian Universities for Masters is a 2.1 and a strong GPA in your Last two years in the University i.e 400L & 500L (if your undergraduate degree is a 5 years program or 300L & 400L if your undergraduate degree is a 4 years program).

Your best shot is a POST GRADUATE CERTIFICATE (PG.CERT) or a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in a COMPUTER SCIENCE related program at a college

That being said, what branch/area of Computer Science are you interested in

e.g
Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, IT business Analysis, Business Analytics, Mobile Application Development, Web Development,
Software Development etc. ?
Web development is what I'm interested in
any college recommendation with low tuition fees?

Far too many times, prospective applicants applicants ask me questions relating to this topic.

In this post, I will carefully address the real issues and meaning behind "Recommend Interview". I hope every participant on this platform makes the most of the information below.

Kindly be advised that every immigration applications submitted to IRCC are reviewed by at least two levels of people:

1. *Program Case Analyst:*

Most of the time, it's the Program Case Analyst who does the initial R-10 check that often positions certain applications on "Recommend Interview". They review all information present on file and can only make recommendations as per the applicant's circumstance - i.e, recommended interview (RI), review required (RR), recommended refusal/eligibility failed (EF). The Program Case Analyst may also be able to refuse some ill-equipped applications due to poor documentation.

*Reason for Recommend Interview;*

The eligibility status - "Recommend Interview" is mostly common when the Program Case Analyst has certain concerns about the submission of the applicant for an immigration application to Canada.

This is largely due to some irregularities on the applicant's employment reference letter and inability to verify applicant's work experience, ineligible financial documents to cover for the applicant's proposed program and upkeep in Canada, and in some cases due to salaries being paid by cash at applicant's place of work.

2. *Senior Immigration Officer*

The Senior immigration officer (visa officer) will then review the notes and assessments of the program case analyst and make the final decision, this also includes whether or not an interview is required. If an interview is necessary to continue processing your application, the status would change to "interview required". However, since the inception of the COVID-19 pandemic, IRCC have not been conducting interviews for prospective applicants both for work permit, spousal sponsorship, parents sponsorship and some other PR applications. In view of the foregoing, an immigration officer may disregard a recommended interview and subsequently grant an approval.

My observations;

I have reviewed several GCMS notes as of recent and in the past and I have come to understand that majority of applicant's with "Recommend Interview" as the current eligibility assessment on their GCMS notes are later in the visa process approved by the Senior Immigration Officer.

Although, in a few cases, some applications may be rejected due to the limited knowledge on the applicant's part to address the initial concerns. This also stems from the fact that the format is not clearly spelled out by the immigration authorities.

This is not much of a bother you know, i would recommend you check properly for the pre-assessment notes/comments which can be found on the page 2 or the last two pages of the Gcms notes.

Why do I have this feeling “recommended interview” is when they are about to assess your eligibility ?

Na you know understand..nobody is entitled YES but this Canadian student forum is entitled to "transcripts, timeline" of anyone who relied solely on this thread during application..we will not plead with anyone to drop their transcript..Three days is enough time..before you know one week go reach, the person wont drop till forever..
If you come here to seek for help, you must drop your transcript..'we should put please' na wa
Buks03:

@Teemenzo I don’t think you understand him, I think you should read all he has been saying from another angle, maybe you’ll get a better understanding. He never said no one should drop their timeline, For obvious reason is also here for those information. He is only saying we can be polite with our manner of approach. Would this have even happened if he didn’t announce his PPR? No one would have known not to talk of dragging him. But the other lady sound entitled. I guess that’s where the problem lies on. Being positive will also encourage more people to announce their timeline.

Ok. Let’s just use this scenario as an example
Mr A gave Mr B 50naira today
Then Mr A needs Mr B Favor the the following day,
Then Mr B said: I have this but you’ll give me some time.

What if Mr B doesn’t get back to Mr A? How will you handle this

Would you have sent a reminder this way?“ I helped you when you needed me. You should return the favor”

It will go a long way if you approach him politely by saying “ helping me with this would really help…..

My Opinion though

Its better you dont announce than announce and not come back to drop your transcript..If you gain from here and you choose to keep quiet you go jam your own for front.. Visa approval isnt the end of this journey..This thread has been a success cos of peoples promptness of dropping their timeline..
If we encourage bad habits or not complain others will follow suit and the student thread will die.
Buks03:

@Toceen2022 I agree with you honestly. Life is about give and take. Not everyone follows the rule. You might give this person today and take from another person tomorrow, life is not that hard. I have seen cases on this platform where by people drop their timeline and they never asked question on the platform, but they feel the need to share coz it can help few people and they might have learnt one or two things from peoples questions. They are ghost viewers just like me. And on the other hand some people here have asked questions and didn’t get back to the group when they got their PPR.
I’m still asking the same question? Would you have known if he didn’t announce his PPR? Calling him out after three days doesn’t make sense to me. It can be over looked till he comes back for another question. Or better still remind him in a polite way. It not like if he doesn’t drop another person wouldn’t.

This is not me encouraging anyone no to drop, you can’t tell what anyone is going through aside this platform, what if he was going through something with the intention of dropping his time line afterwards. It’s a different case if our study permit depends on his. Then I can understand the desperation. But it doesn’t, it can only help by dropping it.

Let’s just take things easy.

Do your research on the Programs below, check it's overview, course outlines (curriculum) of each program etc. and go for the one that suites you

PG Cert, Web Development - Front-End Design
George Brown College, Toronto, Ontario

PG Cert, Web Development
Humber College, Toronto, Ontario

PG Cert, Web Development
Conestoga College, Ontario

Web And Mobile Computing
Douglas College, New Westminster, British Columbia

Web and Mobile App Design and Development (POST-DEGREE DIPLOMA)
Langara College, Vancouver, British Columbia

For the low tuition aspect, google the program and school, visit their respective websites, then check for the tuition amount for international students of each programs to determine if it's low or not based on your budget.

I just received my GCMS now
Kindly interpret please

"The pre-Assessment Notes: TH: CAN refusal declared" what does this mean please

Have you applied before and got denied? Looks to me that it's saying you declared your previous refusal.

Every other thing I see is positive since your eligibility has been recommended as passed. They might likely send you a medical request since your medical has expired.

Congrats in advance are in order. Keep praying that senior officer don't overturn this positive.

Hi there,

I need help!

I need honest review on this course - Certificate in Business Intelligence and Analytics, University of Calgary Continuing Education. I really cannot tell if it is a PGCERT program but it is more of a professional program recommended for international students who wants to live and work in Canada according to the information on the school website.

The program is 12months with one year PGWP and tuition fee of CAD22,050.00. The core courses align with what the applicant is looking for and it is business related reason considering the program.

The background of the applicant:
- Computer/Electrical Engineering
- Currently working in the finance sector as Credit Risk Officer

What advise do you have for the applicant

Thanks.

I think the course is too expensive if it's just a certificate and not a PGC. You can find PGD/PGC/PostBaccDip that are also good for applicants wishing to immigrate at cheaper price.

Long Post and testimony time!!!!

Been on Nairaland for more than 5yrs - it started with the US birth trend, of which I was denied a visa twice when I wanted to birth to my son in 2018, I took time off from the Japa struggle, and 2020/ 2021 started again on another UK Student Visa trend, after everything I was denied twice again, I cried my eyes out, am like " e bi like say my head no travel out of this country" told God he was not fair to me, after all my struggle, he could not even pity me because of my kids and answer my UK visa plans. I gave up, faced my work, and invested my money in some properties.
I met a friend who encourage me again, and advised I don't give up. i told him I was going to think about it, in my mind am like this one does not know am done with all this wahala.
after a rethink, took a step of faith, got admission and gbam visa process started.
Timeline: submitted March 27th
Upfront Medical: 28th March
Biometrics: April 1
Medical updated to pass: April 21st
then the wait .......
on the 7th of June, was reading through the trend and saw when someone posted mailing the embassy, na so me too summon courage ooo, I mailed and the following day eligibility started.
Behold: MY PRR dropped yesterday 13th June.

my hands were checking to open the mail, and here comes my visa approved.

1st-time applicant, I have never travelled out of the country before, I declared all my refusals, and am 40yrs old. Those that tell you something? DON'T GIVE UP!!!!

Congratulations... i am next

There is no contact for faster medicals. Except you have been asked to go for medicals then I think you can walk in and show them the print out or so. But if it’s upfront then no faster link
