Yayyyy, good news. I have been waiting for your update on the collection mail. It means that our projection last week was right.
Yes!! Our projection was right. Seriously, you gave me hope with your post. I’m basking in euphoria over this little update. It’s like I’ve never been to the UK before. I think it’s more about the little ones looking forward to summer holidays plus the money paid for 5 years visa x 2 & that of the kids as well. I will give an update when collection mail drops. Ours is family of 5. We already got one rejection last week. That rejection was for my adopted child. It’s been difficult changing her last name to mine. I will still share more about her situation maybe I can get a good advise here. I want to reapply for her using priority service. For now, I will take a chill pill until I pick up.

she needs transit visa ooo.
Since Feb 2021, UK has left Brexit so 3rd country nationals like Nigerians need to get transit visa otherwise o.y.o.
Or if she has an american, japanese or canadian visa or passport she can go without it. Otherwise pls go to vfs abi what page and urgently look for how to get one now

You only get transit visa if your connecting flight require you to change airport midway to your final destination (in which case you have to collect your luggage midway). This is called self-transfer. You will be notified while booking tha lo this flight is self-transfer. If you do not book a flight that require self-transfer, you don’t need a transit visa.

Brexit doesn’t have nothing to do with Transit visa. As a Nigerian passport holder, You only need transit visa if you are going to be stepping out of the airport independently into an European country or what-have-you country to which your first flight takes u to

This has been stopped since February 2021. As long as you are passing through the EU without a transit visa as a Nigerian you must have a transit visa.
The UK is no longer part of the EU and this came into play.
It was to start January 2021 and they gave Nigerians grace of 1 month and it started full time February 2021. Let her mom not get transit visa or Japanese/Canadian/American visa and come and tell us if she will cross the EU airport into the UK.

@fasa199 please disregard incorrect information and look for how to get the airport transit visa due to time.

Good day,

Am assuming they are going to visit the Primary Applicant or are going there to be with the PA?

If it's for a short visit, calculate flight costs for the four of u, add about £200 for each applicant for upkeep + another £1000 for general/unseen expenses. As per accomodation, am sure that the PA has a living abode already and will be taking care of feeding as well.

The total amount u come to should represent at most 40% of the total proof of funds (let's assume this figure is represented by X) u need. So find X. X should be total amount at the end of Ur account statement. X could actually be more if Ur situation has it in excess. Most of it should have been saved through length of time and not entered into it account as lump sum. Let the statement show good inflows every month.

This is particular to the situation described by OP above and is not rule of thumb for every application.

Goodluck

Where do u book your flights from?
Also what do u understand by Airport transit visa?
If you book a flight that requires ATV, then it is Self-transfer and you won’t even be allowed to board the flight right from the original country you start your journey because it will be part of the checks that will be required before you get your boarding pass. Quite unfortunate that the person who brought out the discussion has already booked the flight as I was a victim in 2018 when I booked flight to Nigeria from London through Italy but it required me to have a schenghen visa before I could even start my journey. This is not a battle of knowledge between you and me. I suggest people should always book from www.skyscanner.net They always advise on these cases on flight- bookings

it is fine.
Let the poster’s mom travel with a Nigerian passprt, travel via France or Netherlands, not leave the airport and travel to the UK without an EU visa, an airport transit visa, an American, Japanese or Canadian visa and see if she would get into the UK.
For the last time, the rules came into play February 2021. Stop being confident in passing wrong information. You are very very very wrong.
Also pls understand I am not the one that coined the name airport transit visa, that is what the respective governments have named it now… take it up with them if bothers you

This information is wrong please. Airfrance-KLM requires a Transit visa if you’re traveling to the UK on a Nigerian passport (along with some other countries). There are some exceptions like if you have a Schengen visa or US visa etc.
You can use this link to confirm what restrictions are in place http://klm.traveldoc.aero/

Ha please don't mislead people o. You are talking 2018 when this rule started last year. Even my brother couldn't travel in September 2021 because of this. He had to forfeit the ticket at the airport and bought BA at a ridiculous price because he urgently needed to travel that night.

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by mimilyrics: 3:35pm On Jul 01, 2022
This is wrong. You now need ATVs whether you leave the airport or not. This will be checked during the check-in/boarding process and you won't be allowed to proceed. I transited through AMS when I visited Nigeria last year and someone who was meant to be on my flight was denied boarding due to the absence of an ATV.
Luggage (except hand luggage) was not seen or handled by passengers till we got to the UK.

Who’s this person constantly insisting on wrong knowledge I have never seen anyone on this thread who doesn’t know you have to get an ATV if flying through Schengen flight operators to the UK- consequent upon brexit and you still said it’s got nothing to do with brexit. Come on man!

Hello Nairalanders,

I need your advice on my UK visitors visa (6 months). I did my biometrics on 26th May in Abuja and used the “Keep my Passport” option.

I sent a paid mail on 28th June to know the status of my application and I was told that decision has been made and they will contact me soon.

I contacted them again via visits email on 30th June and I got this email: “your visa application is now concluded and the Visa Application Centre (VAC) will be in contact with you soon”.

I am outside the country at the moment and would like to plan for my trip to Nigeria to submit my passport if the visa is approved but I also don’t want to come and then find out that it wasn’t successful.

What you recommend based on experience? Do I contact TLS? How do I do that?

Thanks for you help!

Good day

Pls start Ur application journey from https://www.gov.uk. Go to the immigration and visas section.

For hotel bookings, u can use Expedia or booking.com to make Ur hotel bookings. U don't need proof of flight booking

If u try Ur Naija cards and they don't work, u will need Ur dollar MasterCard/Visa card

Pls for this, it's best u ask the airlines what are the conditions for each leg of the flight. That way she won't be caught unawares. Also read the fine print on Ur ticket or instructions on the booking site (if u booked online).

Good day,

Wish u the best of luck with the awaiting pickups. Pls I would like to ask that in what order did u get Ur 2 yrs and 5 yrs visa after Ur initial 6 months? Did u apply for the 2 yrs straight after the 6 months initial visa expiry or did u apply for 5 yrs straight after the initial 6 months visa expiry? Pls help me clarify in what progression was this done! We're their sizable or long intervals between any of the application i.e. what are the time periods between each of the visas after expiry of the former one. I will really appreciate this info.

Now I have interest in the situation of Ur adopted child. I have a case am doing as well for someone in that category. He too is trying travel with his niece but who doesn't bear the same surname with him. For Ur child, have u been able to adapt him/her and gone thru the court processes? Pls share more so we can come see what can be done.

Thanks

Any update? A lot of us are in the same situation.

Hello

Help me b4 UKVI drives me crazy.

I was refused visa on the 14th of October.
The reason is that i didn't meet up with the financial requirements, but I did.

So I went for an Administrative review the same day. I heard nothing from this UK home office until 17th of December.

I was notified of my successful administrative review.

But till now they have not reached me on any decision made yet.

I used the paid enquiry to escalated the matter, they sent an email that a decision has been made but they can't disclose it on line( this one was happening last month) that I should wait for 15 working days, that they will reach me.

I am still waiting.oooh,

I don't know my left from my right, too much uncertainties concerning the visa application.

I disturbed thier life with the paid enquiry, they are still saying the same thing, the Home office is busy, wait for 15days your issue has been escalated.
I have waited for 15days 2 times now.

Is there any other thing i can do? Any other channel I cam use and mount pressure in them?

Yeah, the first update gives a lot of relief when you think of the time and cost, I am quite hopeful that your family will get the visas. Lol, the kids are definitely 100% more excited about the holiday.

So sorry about the refusal… is she officially adopted? The immigration laws ought to take that into consideration. I am sure someone on this thread will have an advice/share experience on how to deal with it.

Thanks for the wishes. Collection mail came today for 3 members & we’re still expecting 2 more. I went from 6 months, 2 years (twice) and now 5 years. It doesn’t matter what duration you want to apply for, as long as you have valid reason for applying for a long term visa. The progression of 1/2, 2, 5 & 10 years is always advisable. I have had just about two months intervals between my past visas. My last visa was 2013 & here i am, applying for 5 years. No so much justification for that(long term visa) besides just being a frequent traveler ( to other countries).
The situation of my adopted child is a bit dicey. She’s actually my niece (from a step sis) & she’s now an adult (in the university). She has traveled with the family twice before now. I didn’t take seriously about making her adoption legal( the Naija way) & I’m paying the price now. Can’t even get her on my Hmo & the last time we traveled the naija immigration gave us whala because of her last name being different from mine. Maybe I’ll post her rejection letter later and I’ll pick it up from there
