The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has said Christians have nothing to worry about over Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party’s flag bearer, Bola Tinubu, a southern Muslim, on Sunday announced Kashim Shettima, northern Muslim, as his running mate, a decision that has sparked condemnation within and outside the APC.

Some prominent APC members that have condemned the ticket include; ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal; Elisha Abbo, a senator; Kenneth Okonkwo and others.

[B]Mr Keyamo, in a series of Tweets on Wednesday, said Nigerians should focus on the credentials of the duo, adding that Nigerians should not be deceived by clerics on who to vote for.[/b]

While justifying the decision, Mr Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said the “elites are selfishly trying to smuggle religion into politics.”

“So, the APC comes to the table with two highly successful State Chief Executives who did excellently well in their States during their tenures, picked excellent successors (Fashola and Zulum) & a former First Lady and distinguished Senator. It is a case of buy one, get three free,”

‘Nigerians & Christians, in particular, should have NOTHING TO FEAR in respect of a President & Commander-in-Chief (by God’s Grace and the votes of Nigerians.”

“No one should deceive us, as ordinary Nigerians, be it a pastor or Imam, to vote or not to vote for anyone based on the religious colouration of the ticket.

“Let the debate begin as to the PERFORMANCE of Bola Tinubu as Gov.of Lagos State and not the issue of same faith ticket.” Mr Keyamo noted that “Bola Tinubu allowed his only wife to be a practising Christian and a Pastor under the same roof for about 40 years!”

Every sound person whether Christian, even Muslim or African Traditional Religion adherents have every plausable reason to be worried with this gross insult of the collective sensibility of nation by a govt that have polarized a nation with ethno-religious supremacist agenda.

Now, If the ruling party can shamelessly foist a Muslim Muslim candidacy on Nigeria, throw all caution to the winds and threaten the countrys fragile nationhood.

If this can also happen with a second term Muslim presidency in place with a Muslim senate president and a Muslim speaker of the House of reps, and a Muslim chief justice of the country.

If this can happen at the same time that Muslim jihadists attacked a federal prison and left without any resistance from the muslim government, and the Muslim chief of army staff, and the Muslim inspector General of police

If all this is happening and the Muslim comptroller general of customs cannot stem the flow of weapons from Muslim jihad groups into Nigeria, and the Muslim comptroller general of immigration cannot stop illegal Muslim jihad aliens Coming here to cause mayhem

Then I'm forced to ask, is it not time to divide the country? If Christians must be dominated/oppressed, then count me out. If the price of one Nigeria is the enslavement of Christians, then please divide Nigeria Credits: OP(modified)

If anything, Tinubu’s judgement on leadership selections is more than enough proof of his lack of managerial acumen. 

Those who believe that Tinubu has a peculiar skill for selecting worthwhile leaders should at least account for his prudence in fostering a crassly incompetent leader like Buhari, not once but twice! Buhari turned out to be a disaster during his first term, but Tinubu promoted him for a second term.

Anyone who watched Buhari’s recent interview with Channels Television cannot but conclude that though Buhari still has 17 months to go, Nigeria has already frittered away eight years of national life. We have been plagued with possibly the most incompetent and the most sociopathic leader in national history.

In 2015, Buhari was hardly a promising candidate, but things were not supposed to be this bad. The man did not solve any problem but, in fact, worsened every-thing with his impotence and sadistic arrogance. That was a leader Tinubu helped install twice & we are
supposed to trust his judgement again? No!

After the monumental disaster called Buhari, Nigeria cannot afford another leader whose driving motivation for the presidency is to merely fulfil a lifelong dream. Tinubu has a right to pursue his ambition but not at the expense of poor and long-suffering Nigerians already counting down to the days when Buhari’s nuisance will be escorted out of Aso Rock.

The 2023 election should be a turning point. Recruiting another bumbler as president jeopardises that chance. We can all agree that Nigeria deserves better than a candidate without a viable record of administrative success beyond the cheap propaganda retailed in the media and parroted by those who do not listen to their own thoughts before mouthing them
