Honestly, serving me food without asking first is disregarding and disrespectful, and don't take offense when I turn it down.
Some people are naturally picky when it comes to food.

I am the same. The worst is when they insist. It doesn't help that I am a picky eater now I have to list the things I can eat and can't eat.

I don't eat anywhere i can't ask for food when am hungry, my mum was very strict with us while growing up and warned us against eating outside and it got used to me. Till today I don't enjoy eating outside, I prefer homemade meals.......Some of my friends are angry with me because I haven't eaten their food before. Among all the students in my hostel I ate with only two of them because of the special bond we shared before I left. I can't relate with what OP is talking about, person food nor dey move me.

No actually poor man mindset doesn't reject food , the above opinion I gave applies to people that are comfortable in life that still have self dignity not poor man please, poor man way go come wedding with take away plate, and even carry spare bottles to exchange drinks

You put food infront of your visitor and then invite him/her to eat.
You don’t come by the sides.
You don’t give them the plates in their hands.
Come to the front of the person and gentle drop your tray and invite the visitor to eat.
If you be ajegbo then show them where the toilet is in case them need to do something

You act like this, you re called fake, you act expectant, they call you entitled/desperate etc. The answer is never go to eat in another person's house, period. Matter of fact, a level of discipline is the will to say no thanks I am not hungry/I already ate etc And if we re struggling with that...here's a way out, when going to another's place and you know you struggle to decline just take your snack or meal with you (even a piece for your hosts too). That way, you dodge the bullets of being called a hypocrite/hungry and earn your respect. No one hates a giver
