In IMO state we don't know what water board is, almost every compound has a borehole
NIGERIANS are very docile people if not the most DOCILE People in the world, and it is what people in government have taken advantage of.
My father told me that if u got pushed intentionally by a man and u didn't react,he will come back tomorrow to slap you if you didn't react, the next time he will be coming with Cutlass...our past governors have seen that NIGERIANS are weak people that are only good in ranting.

Some people are planning to vote a man that deals with generator importation and assembling.what do you think will happen to our power generation?

NIGERIANS don't recognize redlines.generally NIGERIANS are illiterates

In Rivers State the cost of digging borehole is very cheap, this made every household to run its own water board.

In my compound here, the security man is the water board manager. This dude on weekend will deliberately refuse to pump water knowing too well that every one is around, even as I am typing this now no water in the compound. He is waiting to pump it on Monday morning when everyone has left to work.

Some people can be fool of Sh**t

I am deeply concerned to ask this question on a forum like this to read the reactions and feelings of Nigerians concerning basic infrastructure needs like water in a state.

How many states can boast of portable water running through their houses(I’m not talking about boreholes)...I mean tap water provided by the state govt.

Growing up in the North(Kaduna state to be precise,in d 90s) I still recall how water runs through pipes and then flows to our kitchen tap. Sometimes we don’t see the water for some days and when it finally comes we all become excited for this basic amenity.
This is 2022,how many states can boast of pipe borne water to her people? It’s no longer news that individuals are now providing basic amenities for themselves while those whom they voted into power no longer do their job. For goodness sake why should individuals be sinking boreholes all in the name of having water run through their homes? Where is the govt?

Is this how it is in South Africa?
Is this how it is in Ghana?
Is this how it is in Kenya?
Is this how it is in Rwanda?

If something as simple as tap water can’t be running in homes of millions of Nigeria..can we then say governance in Nigeria is indeed a rocket science? I think the East has a billion and one sunken boreholes than any region. I maybe wrong

I want an open discussion on this thread, pls be objective as possible don’t bring tribal war here.

Is governance in Nigeria a rocket science?

The water situation is still good in Kaduna, but not like before. When water runs, we use and store in our reservoir as well for days when there won't be supply.

And ur here boasting of how abuja water board is the best in ur dreams.

I live in estate here in Abuja, majority of this estate can't pay for the bills so they rather dig bore hole in other to reduce the cost.

I'm not here to argue, make research on it and save your self out of argument.

The major reason Water Works in all Nigerian states barely function is because Nigerians mostly DON'T pay their water bill. While growing up, people in the area I used to live will burst water pipes, then we'll start fetching water once the Lagos Water Corporation supplies water at 4/6pm.
The corporation now supplies water 3 times a week.
Nigerians ruined the water corporation just like they ruined NEPA by owing debts and free connection.
This is not to imply that the Water Corporation boards were not complicit in some way, but I'll blame the state governors more for their lack of strict monitoring and punishment of offenders.

Throughout my stay in a Francophone African country, I never lacked water once for 3 years! I always pay my bill on time. If I refuse to pay, the board will come and take away my meter and I dare not burst their pipes. I'll have to go to the Corporation to pay a hefty fine.
My neighbours that didn't pay their bills on time cannot fetch water in my apartment beyond a day cuz my bill will skyrocket!

The worst is that in my village if you like dig borehole as deep as hitting the centre of the earth you will still not get water. We depend solely on rain water and huge underground reservoirs.
Hope Soludo changes the narrative.

The eastern region makes governance seems very hard. I have never seen a state water running in homes. Everybody is digging boreholes for themselves. Even with the river Niger, water is still hard. Don’t really know about southwest.

Lagos state water board still dey exist?

I know of Enugu state. The water board system is still working.Though not often. The worst is Delta State where I hail from. The water board system has stop working long time ago. Upon the huge allocation that comes to the state every month, Notting much you see what they use the money for. Our leaders are the worst criminals you can think of. Apart from Abia which remain underdeveloped due to bad leadership also, every other states is far developed than delta State

Here in Delta state there's nothing like functioning water board even the state capital where I live everyone depends on borehole

But I think we still have people who works under the ministry

I wonder what their job is anyway....

I remember back then in Abuja, kubwa every home enjoys government water,

There was a time they keep announcing it on radio and television stations that people should stop keeping their taps running at night to stop wasting of water

We really flex govt water then in Abuja, some people living in a high hill areas doesn't enjoy the water always and they keep flocking in our compound just to fetch water
Omo if you nor be fine girl we no go open gate for you

Very true. Most state water boards are not functional but u still have workers collecting salaries. If we check sef na there dem hide and bury ghost workers.

I once worked in a state where their water board sometimes function and most times go on incessant strike and one of the worker revealed that things just as procuring chemicals for water cleansing are hardly provided for them to use and work...in her words,’if gov release money for those material,Oga kpata kpata for our water board go divert the money’. Lol Nigerians grin

In Surulere where I used to stay then, water from the government was working till Ambode's tenure. It was when he started trying to make it prepaid like light, that was when everyone abandoned it and started digging boreholes.

Several people have talked about Surulere having water on this thread, but they all complain about the water being dirty and irregular. Other than that, I don't think public water works anywhere.
