Most are not competent.
ayo2008:

Who told they are not competent?
The country pays a senator to the tune of over 3o million with no competent test done and you expect a professor that earns less than 1,000 dollars to go thru competent test? Is that fair if I should ask you?

What is your yardstick to prove that majority are not competent?

Don't talk out of hate or frustration
Bring you proofs
Guess you visited all the universities in Nigeria?

emorse:
WORDS ON MARBLE FROM SOME OF MY NIGERIAN LECTURERS
1. "If I teach you and you understand, it means I've not done anything!"(followed by Patience Ozokwor kind of laughter)

2. "I pity those who are spending money on you because you can never amount to anything in this life"(when a student adjusted his seat during class)

3. "I'm an old war horse! There's nothing anyone can do to me in this school. So if you like, go and report at the senate".

4. "You say you don't have money? You're not serious. Don't you know what your mates are doing for money? The boys among you should go and do Yahoo and the girls should stop f**king small small boys. Look for real men who can take care of you".

5. "I won't beg you to buy my book but when next I come to this class, I'll be reading it like newspaper"(in a 200L mathematics class)

6. "For those of you who thought I'd retire this year, I have bad news for you. I have five more years to frustrate your lives. You'll continue to see my ugly face"(when GEJ added 5 years to their retirement age)

In summary that's most of the knowledge acquired after spending 5 years in the university. Whatever is keeping us afloat now was learnt outside. Sad.

Lol... Numbers 4 & 6 are bombshells grin cheesy

...Tell the Lecturer to quit lecturing and be a Senator, if he so much in love with the pay. Some works are noble work (Law enforcement, Farming, Clergyman/Spiritualist and Teaching) and at the University level you needs to be on top of the game not repeating same textbook for decades and coming to class twice in a month. Some of them have 3-4 lecturing job at major institutions at the same time using the same static methods while young educationist are roaming the street without jobs. They keep going on strike because of a request they made to the then Military Govt. and you know what they collect salary for not coming to work Think About That.

ayo2008:

How many impact does the senator has that he is earning over 30 million?

You talk out of frustration. Using majority is not acceptable.

In civilized countries, the rate at which your students pass out and graduate is testament to how great and efficient you are as a lecturer and so a professor in harvard would say I AM A GREAT LECTURER BECAUSE ALL MY STUDENTS PASSED AND GRADUATED.

This is the bragging rights of any professor in civilized countries.

Meanwhile this failure of a professor in Nigeria bragging right is how many students fail his class and drop out of the department and get kicked out of the university. This is the bragging right of this failure who is too brain dead to understand that if most of your students are failing and being kicked out of the university it is a testament of how bad of a lecturer you are.

I hereby henceforth submit that all Nigerian lecturers should be put on a salary of 200 thousand a month because that is what they deserve. They dont deserve more than that until they can make sure that all their students graduate and know what they are doing after they graduate.
were you rusticated? But tell us the reason

All this epistles means nothing
I dnt need to join words with you.You wrote out of ignorance as regards ASUU strike.
You can use your internet to check the pay of university lecturers in African countries (not developed countries) and the state of arts buildings the government did there.

The state of our public universities in Nigeria is nothing to write home about.

Lecturers should be careful. It's like students are now shifting from the government to them.

Going by the antecedents of many of them, it won't be out of place to accuse them of most of these allegations.

God bless you bro, they're professors for mouth and paper, they've never professed any scientific findings into existence. Very dumb people who feel so much entitlement when they have nothing to offer thinking professorship is all about speaking English. Professors when one mugu pastor dey scam, Nigerian Professors are in various Churches fooling themselves. Idiots

What a myopic mindset. You have a very poor level of reasoning in this regard. Why even generalize in the first place?

God bless you OP. In short, he will bless you many times.

We know how lecturers behave in our institutions behave but when they go on their useless strike, they start pretending to be saints.

What is the quality of their research work? How relevant are their course materials to our local industries not to talk of international universities?

They claim to be underfunded, but no material or result to account for the so called small funds they have received so as to make a serious case for more. Someone told me that only UI and maybe ABU can be said to be research institutes especially for graduate studies.

This is a terrible idea. This is not a solution to the problem and would only make it worse.

I schooled in a public Uni in Nigeria. I experienced what you're talking about but this is not the way to go.

The copy and paste in the Nigerian educational system is too much.

Teachers and lecturers in Nigeria have no idea of their own.
