You leave the church for the pastor to sweep, clean everything, bring out and set every instrument, sponsor everything needed in the church with his money, preach the word, and finally pay all the choristers and instrumentalists?

Ogbeni, shut your stupid self up! Is the church a cooperative that needs weekly/monthly contributions? Giving shouldn't be forced on anybody, it is at their free will.

Why should the choristers and instrumentalists be paid? Any church with paid choir is a fake church!

Your thinking dates back to several years back back back.

A church, believe it or not, needs funds to run smoothly. There are staff members to be paid - security, cleaners, secretary, admin staff, etc. Bills to be paid - electricity, diesel for gen, data, fuel for vehicles, repairs and maintenance etc. All of these do not run on water. Some churches even engage in special projects - evangelism, community works etc. Running of a church isn't yam and beans okay?

Then as for instrumentalists getting paid, it depends. If your church has members that can use the guitar well, play drums, gangan, keyboard and sax you're fine but churches with no members who can do this have to hire musicians to do them. Now the musicians who are hired will collect money because that is their own daily occupation that they earn a living from. Na you teach them how to play? Some of them invested in schools and materials to learn all the stuff.

In my church, we have about 6 instrumentalists. My husband is the only one among them that does it for free. He can handle all the other instruments apart from his guitar, but he can only do one at a time.
Apart from that, it's a matter of personal conviction if you wanna do it for free or not. Choristers don't get paid but we have benefits or privileges that we enjoy so please stop thinking like an ancient man biko.

If your pastor has all these things to make life easy for the people that gather at the place, he should be able to take care of them. Anyone who has the means to help out can do so without being coerced or forced to do it.

The only concern of God is the people, not the church buses, or community service. Once the holy spirit takes over, everyone will see it as their duty to do these things. The pastor will call for it and everyone will turn up for it because their spirits align with it.

This is what I have with "church business" people. The church is not a business. A pastor is not an entrepreneur! The real church as established by Christ and developed by the apostles has been relegated to the status of house fellowship all in the name of the business of soul-winning.

If a church doesn't have anyone who can play any instruments, let them make do with what they have. It's very simple! You've turned the church into a seed-sowing and salary paying venture. It's a shame!
