Rubbish write up. I'm with ASUU. |

Most people against ASUU are APC supporters, ASUU have made their stance known times without number, yet the government keep stalling, well, they can afford to school and send their children to school abroad, Nigerian masses can suffer, they don't care. |

Queenslander:So is the political system, maybe you don't really know what assu is fighting for, find out then come back and quote me, I'm waiting. It's because their children are schooling overseas that's why it looks like a joke to them, then you'll see youths and students who will use 7 years for a four years course still vote for the same people who have no plans for the country except for their selfish reasons just like you said. No wonder buhari called them lazy youths. |

Nigeria government pay themselves first. From the presidency to the councillors. They should pay the lecturers, and meet their demands. |

The same lecturers that emotionally, academically, psychologically, financially, and sexually abuse you are the ones you think will fight for you, to the extent of losing their salaries for months? |

The umbrella body of university lecturers(ASUU) are self centered incompetent rogues.does it mean that every government that comes to power must put feeding bottle in their mouth to suck like babies, cant they sit down and do their job for once. The government should sponsor moles to set up parallej unions in the universities to clip their wings and reduce their strenght and influence. |
| Re: Who Is ASUU Really Fighting For? by Thomthom(m): 8:47pm On Jul 27, 2022 |
ASUU never said they were fighting for the students from day one.. They only fight the government to fund Universities in Nigeria.. My own is that, that Oga that is aledged to have stolen #100billion money should be given to ASUU to support the Universities. |

Nazgul:ASUU is not pretending to be fighting for their students, they fight for themselves. If you feel that their pay is commensurate with what their counterparts are earning outside Nigeria say it. There are only two labour unions in Nigeria who have the liver to stand up to the impunity of the FG and these are NMA and ASUU. Tell your FG to honour the signed agreement QED |

onyxo76:Bros These nonsense set of people called ASUU are dispensable. Foreign employed lecturers will be cheaper, more effective and useful at long run as they will not be profiled for bonus and hidden benefits as these present greedy ASUU being contract staff |

Nazgul I like your name; as a friend to some lecturers and some SSANU staff, I can boldly tell you that these men are fighting for themselves but using student’s welfare as their gambit. Na wash, it’s all about the money |

We have a lot of desperate people with grave opinions in this country, the issue is ASUU is far ahead of you no matter who you think you are |

mrvitalis:YOU SOUND LIKE A NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY LECTURER. THEY HARDLY PROVIDE SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS BUT LOVE CREATING PROBLEMS. YOU SHOULD HAVE ANSWERED THE OP'S QUESTION INSTEAD OF ASKING ANOTHER QUESTION THAT DOESN'T ANSWER THE FIRST. IN MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION BASED ON THE REALITIES DURING THE ABACHA ERA, USING AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY AS A CASE STUDY, WITH MAMAN KOTANGORA AS A CHOICE OF VICE CHANCELLOR BY ABACHA. AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY WAS SO FRUITFUL BECAUSE ABACHA DID NOT ACCEPT ANY KIND OF NONSENSE. ASUU FIGHTS FOR THEIR SELFISH GAINS. IT IS PATHETIC HOW PROFESSORS CAN'T THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX EXCEPT TO ALWAYS GO ON STRIKE. I ONLY PITY THE YOUNG ONES WHO STILL DON'T REALISE THAT THERE IS SO MUCH TO GAIN FROM LEARNING A SKILL OR A TRADE THAN AIM FOR CERTIFICATE AND LOOKING FOR WHITE COLLAR JOB. ALL THIS UNIVERSITY RUSH IS ALL ABOUT PRESTIGE. IT HAS RENDERED ALOT OF YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN USELESS UNABLE TO MAKE A LIVING. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE TOO MANY FRUSTRATED YOUTHS WHO DO NOTHING EXCEPT TO ALWAYS BLAME THE GOVERNMENT FOR THEIR PATHETIC STATE INSTEAD OF USING THEIR GOD GIVEN BRAIN IN A COUNTRY SO BLESS LIKE NIGERIA WHERE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A QUALITY LIVING IS SO MUCH IN ABOUNDANCE. WHAT THIS OUR EDUCATION DOES IS MAKE YOU PROUD IN YOUR STUPIDITY. YOU SEE YOURSELF ABOVE THE CRAFT MEN ON THE STREET WHO EARN WHAT YOU EARN IN A MONTH IN JUST A DAY OR FEW DAYS. LAZY NIGERIAN YOUTH. |

seunmsg:Just read what you wrote... Most of this leaders went to free education... FG have been borrowing billions left right centers to carry out projects that are not important at all... Just to pay ASUU what they want.. Your here talking about parents paying heavily for their children fee and They scraping a university union.. |

slimshady1000:The government cannot meet their greedy and unrealistic demand. If it were to be a military regime would they be able to play with the future of these students.these half baked teachers, lecturers in two to three private universities, leaving their students to suffer. They ain't worth the pay they are demanding. |
| Re: Who Is ASUU Really Fighting For? by adanny01(m): 9:01pm On Jul 27, 2022 |
Paulheyman:You have not said 1 thing I will agree with you. Tell me one agency of government that is working the way we expect? Does ASUU expect that govt will prioritize them over the entire responsibilities of the govt? ASUU are teachers as well as those who teach in primary and secondary schools. The demands by ASUU in comparison to all other civil servants that depend on government is simply outrageous. If every civil service union behaves like ASUU, govt will never be able to solve the issues with the current state of the economy. Besides, in saner climes, government does not foot every bill of tertiary institutions. ASUU shouldn't have the moral audacity to hold the tertiary system to ransom if they know that it's not a right for them to be treated above the reasonable means of the govt. Govt is simply doing it for the sake of the very students ASUU has no regard for. Govt funding of the tertiary institutions is a responsibility it has to provide education for citizens of Nigeria. ASUU successfully kidnapped that responsibility for ransom. It's a bad thing. No excuses. |

Paulheyman:Oga lecturer, You failed to tell us you are fighting for a salary of $3000/month I.e over N2m per month for teaching analog courses the world had left behind. The country is hard we all know but you are too greedy and selfish to think the country is only hard for lecturers alone. You care less about how parents paying the school fee survive on #30,000 minimum wage |

BabaO2:how much do you think you can pay a prof from even Egypt or maybe South Africa? remember the dollar is over 700 as at this evening, let us assume you can pay ,how many can you afford to be able to fulfil the minimal requirements for accreditation of faculty courses? except you want to get then from Benin republic or Chad, those ones might consider, but any other African country with a very standard academic system, it will mean maybe if you start paying like 2m annually as tuition fees to attract those ones from Western countries. |
| Re: Who Is ASUU Really Fighting For? by hotseat: 9:13pm On Jul 27, 2022 |
Op, thanks but, no thanks! This write-up is jaundiced, biased and prejudicial! Let's concede that the university lectuers are "selfish" in their demands, according to you, just because they are simply insisting on the agreement voluntarily entered into by ASUU and the FG since over two decades ago. Please, pay attention to the word "agreement"! Again, the essence of any trade union the world over is to promote and protect the interest of its members. The welfare and general wellbeing of students can only evolve with a non disgruntled ASUU! |
